    Q
Will Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide harm a St.Augustine lawn?
    A

The Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide product label states that it should not be applied to St. Augustine grass, so it is likely that it would be harmful to that type of grass.  If you can tell us what type of weed(s) you need to treat, we will be happy to recommend a product to use that would be safe to apply to St. Augustine grass.

    Q
After applying Q4 Plus on a lawn, how much time should pass before aerating and/or de-thatching that lawn?
    A

We recommend waiting about two weeks or more after applying Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide before you aerate or dethatch the lawn. This is to allow enough time for the target plants to die completely before you dig up their roots.

  • Asked by Jim from Cedar Rapids, Ia
    10/10/2016
    Q
Why should I only use Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide twice a year?
I was using T-Zone SE to spray my yard and switched to Q4 Plus to include getting rid of Crabgrass as well. I spray my entire yard with Q4 Plus in April and September. The label says ONLY two broadcast applications per year. The problem is the Ground Ivy (Creeping Charlie). The Q4 Plus kills 90-95% of it in April but by the time September comes around, it's all grown back. My question is why can't I spray three times a year? I would think spraying in April, July and September would probably eradicate the Ground Ivy eventually. I might take a couple years but only spraying twice a year is not going to win the battle. I believe the two applications a year is based on the 2-4D in the product.
    A

Products such as Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide should only be applied the maximum amount of times listed on the product label.  This how often the manufacturer has determined it is safe for the environment to use them. As ground ivy is a winter weed, it is best controlled when products are applied in the Fall as they start to green up.  Another option is to simply pull it up in between applications, though this may take several months of doing so to gain complete control.

I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide, so it will only be effective on existing plants that are actively growing. You should not use any post-emergent herbicides during winter temperatures or when weeds are dormant.

  • Asked by Bruce from Crozet, Va

    Q
What is the shelf life of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide in a garage?
I made the mistake of storing Q4 in the garage. It is not effective this year as a result. Do I need to toss the remainder in the bottle or mix the solution with more product?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide should be stored in a cool dry place and not exposed to extreme temperatures, i.e. above 90 and below freezing.  If it was stored in less than optimal conditions, and you are noticing that it has separated in the bottle and with shaking will not go back into solution or it is not as effective, we would recommend replacing it.

  • Asked by Mark from Rose Hill, Ks
    03/07/2016
    Q
How much Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide do I use per Acre in a lawn that is a mixture of Fescue and Bermuda?
I have 2.5 acres. I will be using a 30 gallon sprayer. Please tell me how much to mix to treat my 2.5 acres. Primarily for foxtail and crabgrass. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure the correct ratio.
    A

The mixing ratio of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide varies with these 2 types of grasses.   For Fescue the amount is 7- 8 pints per acre (2.6 to 3.0 fl oz/1000 sqft) For Bermuda you use 5-7 pints per acre (1.8 to 2.6 fl oz/1000 sqft).  So for the mixture you could use the 7 pints/acre or 2.6 fl/1000 sqft

As for the amount of water the label states the following and varies depending on the type of sprayer:

For Conventional Spray Equipment: 50 to 220 gal/acre

For Low Volume Spray Equipment: Equipment should be calibrated to apply at least 20 gallons per acre
