    Q
What is the shelf life of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide in a garage?
I made the mistake of storing Q4 in the garage. It is not effective this year as a result. Do I need to toss the remainder in the bottle or mix the solution with more product?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide should be stored in a cool dry place and not exposed to extreme temperatures, i.e. above 90 and below freezing.  If it was stored in less than optimal conditions, and you are noticing that it has separated in the bottle and with shaking will not go back into solution or it is not as effective, we would recommend replacing it.

  • Asked by Jo from Concord, Nc
    09/11/2016
    Q
How long after applying Q4 Plus can I replant ajuga?
I spilled some on patio & washed down with garden hose instead of wiping up because if was approx 3+ ounces & spreading quickly. Unfortunately, I have ajuga planted beside. I kept watering it off of them. Will it keep spreading to the other mature plants? I pulled up the wilted ones. I know grass is one week but didn't see any ornamentals.
    A

Q4 is not going to move through the soil and affect other plants that were not directly sprayed with the product.  If you have watered the area well and it did not contact others or their roots, they should be fine.  The label does state not to apply to ornamental landscape beds.  We would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for timing of when you can apply in that area.  PBI Gordon can be reached at 800-821-7925.

  • Asked by Jim from Oshawa, Ontario

    Q
What is the best post-emergent pesticide for spot or blanket spraying cool season turf?
I am looking for a post-emergent herbicide that contains quinclorac, triclopyr, fluroxypyr and carfentrazone.
    A

We do not have a post-emergent herbicide that will contain all 4 of the active ingredients you mentioned.  Without knowing what weeds are being targeted, it is hard to make a recommendation. In most cases, tank mixing two herbicides is allowed if permitted on the product labels. You would follow the most restrictive label in regards to tank mixing.  Q4 Plus tends to be the most popular for broadleaf weed control in cool-season turf. Here are some other options.

    QuickSilver Herbicide contains Carfentrazone-ethyl

Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone contains 2,4-D, mecoprop-p, dicamba and carfentrazone-ethyl.

E-2 Herbicide contains 2,4-D, Fluroxpyr, and Dicamba

Q4 Plus contains 2,4-D, Dicamba, Quinclorac and Sulfentrazone

Solitare Herbicide contains Quinclorac & Sulfentrazone.
