    Q
Active crabgrass in and around shrubs, flowerbed, trees
I am in middle TN; have a 5 year old lawn with tall fescue as the primary grass. I have active crabgrass around the the foundation, sidewalks, shrubs, flower beds and trees. Can I use QuinKill in these areas to kill crabgrass at this time of the year? What pre-emergent do you recommend for next year to control crabgrass?
    A
We apologize, but the QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer is restricted in the state of Tennessee. We recommend the Fusilade II Herbicide. It is safe for use in ornamental flower beds, shrubs, trees ,and tall fescue turf and should be mixed with a surfactant.

For pre-emergence control of crabgrass, we recommend the Dimension 2EW Herbicide. Please be sure to read the Dimension product label to make sure your flowers are listed as tolerant varieties.

    Q
Spot use of QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer on bermuda grasss
I want to mix in my pump up sprayer and then use it to spot treat each weed. How much of this product should be used per gallon of water. All that I see are mixing instructions per 1000 sq foot of product. I am spot treating,
    A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer is labeled for use as spot application in established Bermuda turf as directed. As with most herbicides, the exact volume of water is not very important, you just need to be sure you are getting the correct amount of product on a specific area.  Generally speaking 1 gallon covers 1000 sq ft, so you can apply 1.45 fluid ounces in 1 gallon for spot treating. It is recommended to apply with a methylated seed oil surfactant. It offers a kill to listed weeds and takes up to 6 weeks to kill sprayed weeds when used as directed.

    Q
Does QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer have grazing restrictions?
I have a Bermuda lawn that my horses graze in periodically, I am looking for a crabgrass control that will work.
    A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer is not labeled to be used where animals would graze.  We would recommend waiting an entire season before any grazing if applied.  Pastora is the only product we carry that can be used for large crabgrass in bermudagrass pastures but it is not labeled for home lawns.  It would be best to keep horses from grazing in the area that is your lawn if you need to treat the crabgrass.

    Q
What additive can I add to the QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer?
I have QuinKill Max and was looking to add Speedzone, but I'm in NJ and saw it's not permitted, is there another solution?
    A

We do offer Trimec 992 that can be used for selective post control of many broadleaf weeds like SpeedZone. Always perform a tank mix test first and try in an inconspicuous area prior to full lawn application. Please refer to the product label for each herbicide that you will apply to your lawn for complete mixing and applications.

    Q
Please advise best options to kill speedwell and crabgrass in my Arizona Bermuda grass lawn?
Most of the nutsedge was killed by multiple applications of Sedgehammer but the speedwell and crabgrass jumped in and common Ortho, Bayer, and Spectracide products won't kill it. I realized too late that I should have used a pre-emergent in the fall. I see several products that may work including Q4 Plus, Quinkill, XLR8, and Trimec, please advise. Thanks!
    A

We would recommend either the name brand Drive XLR8 or the low-cost generic Quinkill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer. They are both great options to control Speedwell along with Crabgrass and is safe for Bermudagrass. These two herbicides have the same active ingredient, just made by different companies but provide the same level of results.

    Q
Does QuinKill Max control Blue-eyed grass (Sisyrinchium)?
    A

QuinKill Max is not labeled to control Sisyrinchium. Atrazine is often used to control this plant in St. Augustine or Centipede turf. In other warm-season turf, you may have success with herbicides containing Trimec such as Fertilome Weed Free Zone. You can also always use a non-selective herbicide such as RoundUp QuikPro and just spot treat the areas where you find the blue-eyed grass.
