ScareCrow for Turkeys
By Ellen on 05/13/2019
Our biggest problem in our acre garden for the last several years has been a large flock of wild turkeys who thrive on our veggies, especially kale and broccoli. We've stationed ScareCrows to spray them when they venture into the vegetable beds. After a season of using them, at least for now, it is working to keep them out, if we remember to turn them back on after working ourselves or harvesting. We have been using four; I just purchased four more to perfect the coverage.

By John on 11/11/2018
Am re-doing my yard , so right now just have dirt. Well the stray cats around the area made it their personal litter box. But no more. Installed and after getting soaked couple times ( forgot to shut sensor off LOL ) Now they stay away , Thank You Scare Crow did the trick, Highly recommend !!!

Lifesaver for fish
By Mary on 10/04/2017
My koi pond is finally safe from our resident heron. I have 3 - one also for blueberry patch to keep deer and birds out and one for backup. Great customer service and replacement parts available. Wish stake was longer - put mine in clay pots filled with gravel. Very sensitive - breeze on plant material sets it off. It is plastic - no problem, but if heavier might stay in place easier. My deer get accustomed to anything! But not this!

Battery replacement problem
By Linda on 08/14/2017
I liked the sprinkler. It was quite effective in keeping the deer from eating my flowers, but after a couple of months the battery died. When I went to replace it, I discovered that it is a 4 pack with a wire attached. I cannot find a replacement like that anywhere, not even at Batteries Plus. Why don't you sell them? I have two other ones that are a bit different, and they both used 9V batteries.

ScareCrow Sprinkler
By Pat on 06/24/2016
We have an incredible deer problem in our residential area; they dine on everything we plant, and drop their babies at our front door while the Mother lays in our gardens, ruins the plants and chomps on whatever catches her eye. Not anymore! With the ScareCrow (we have two and I'm thinking about ordering another) the deer take off running. This a beautiful sight.

Mechanical ScareCrow - pretty darn good!
By Karen on 04/27/2016
This mechanical scare-crow is pretty darn good! It's a little tricky to get set up properly and it leaks just a bit. The part are all plastic - the instructions actually tell you not to tighten the fittings too tightly so that you will not crack or strip them. Rock and hard place really - if they are too loose they leak and won't provide a closed, pressurized system. Too tight and it leaks anyway as a result of being compromised and possibly ruined. It is also a bit top-heavy and the ground stake needs to be twice as long to compensate for this - it isn't so you may need an anchor of some kind. We slipped the hose between rocks which surround our garden - this served to stabilize the crow a bit. Before that it fell over any time it activated - sudden burst of water was enough to knock it over. I actually think a better solution would be to just replace the stake with one that is longer. I'm considering a run to Home Depot for that. Bottom line - after you get it set up and ready it works. It's a hoot to watch the cats get chased out of the garden by the burst of water and I personally like the fact that it doesn't harm the critters and varmints. :)

I live in the country and have free-range chickens. They have torn up my front yard, and didn't want to fence in the entire yard. These work perfect for keeping the chickens out of the yard and garden, and I don't have to worry about putting up another fence. Great product.

Great while they last.
By Arnie on 04/19/2015
Would give this product a 5 star review if they lasted more than a season. This is the fourth ScareCrow we have bought so far. They work wonderful and can be adjusted for distance and sensitivity. I use two in the garden and they keep the deer out. Problem is only one of the four has lasted more than a year. I remove the battery when I put them up for the winter and store them inside out of the weather. In the spring when I take them out of storage they inevitably fail. I've reset them as instructed and even put brand new batteries in them. I'm a retired engineer so I pride my self on being able to repair most things. Problem with these is, short of replacing the motion sensor nothing can be done. Yes I've adjusted water pressure to numerous psi.

This one works!
By Clint on 03/25/2015
I've tried a lot of methods to suggest to local deer that my neighbors' yards are a better place to eat than in my yard. The ScareCrow sprinkler is a method that works. Various chemical repellents work for a short time, but they wash off. Even when I reapply a lot, the deer get used to the smell. I had similar results with coyote urine (really, I bought some), bars of soap, and piles of human hair from my barber. I even tried red lasers that the sellers say the deer mistake for predators' eyes. These methods work from only fair to not at all. One issue I had with the ScareCrow is that it squirts me when I walk past it to work in my garden. I solved that with a battery-operated sprinkler timer that turns the hose going to my ScareCrow on at about dusk and off at about dawn. The only other issue that I had with the ScareCrow is that it freezes where I live and you can't use the ScareCrow in freezing weather. Also, be aware that the ScareCrow needs a 9v battery and goes through them fairly quickly. I need a battery after three or four weeks. All in all, the ScareCrow is my first choice during every season except winter. If you don't have deer problems in the winter, this is an excellent choice.

Possibly the best decision I've made since my wife!
By Humored on 03/03/2015
Have an area of shaded sandy soil that I have been struggling for 2 years getting grass to fill in and the cats from using it as a toilet at my front entry. Spending plenty on every "deterrent" that you have tried and some you haven't, I bit the bullet (It's cheaper here.) Presto! I used rebar to secure due to strong push each time it turns on. Cats, dogs, door hangers jump at just the sound... didn't even tell family, neighbors or new young mailman. You've got to do this. The pests are gone! (No honey, not your family) It's a blast, just too much fun to watch... I love sending the grand-kids to check the mail.

Awesome - Perfect Egret/Heron deterrent
By Goodguyswin on 01/27/2015
I have had this for over 1 month and I have seen it work. The Egret that kept eating my fish, now fly's away. The only issue I have, is sensitivity. When it gets a bit windy, this seems to go off without any kind of heat motion. There is an adjustment knob but I can't seem to find the perfect setting.

ScareCrow worked for a week, then stopped working. The eye quite working, you had to touch the eye and it worked but if you waved your hand in front of it it didn't work. Sara at Contech has been a big help, she is sending me a new one.

Not For Ducks
By Gary on 10/05/2014
We have a pond next to our back yard and ducks have recently started invading us. The ScareCrow worked for about 20 minutes and then the ducks just ignored it and kept coming on our property. We have tried different locations and settings. Nothing seems to make any difference. This device may work for other animals, but not for ducks.

Scarecrow scares em off.
By Rich on 10/02/2014
Bought 3 of these last year. Aside from deer and other pesky animals, we've had "people" actually walking their dogs on our professionally maintained lawn and my wife's flower gardens. I have politely asked them several times to walk their dogs 60 ft. away in the vacant woods, to no avail. Being blasted with a shot of water has stopped this practice! I've purchased the 9V h.d. batteries and they last several month or more. By the way, seeing the deer, squirrels and roaming cats jump a few feet in the air upon being blasted creates some good giggles. LOL
