Scare Crow
By Anonymous on 06/12/2013
Overall, it appears a little cheaply made, but it works well. So far it has kept the grandkids out of the garden, scared at least a couple of deer away and shot me directly in the face at point black range when I forgot it was on, O yeh, I also got the neighbor on his riding lawnmower. Now, Let's see if it holds up.

Mechanical ScareCrow - pretty darn good!
By Karen on 04/27/2016
This mechanical scare-crow is pretty darn good! It's a little tricky to get set up properly and it leaks just a bit. The part are all plastic - the instructions actually tell you not to tighten the fittings too tightly so that you will not crack or strip them. Rock and hard place really - if they are too loose they leak and won't provide a closed, pressurized system. Too tight and it leaks anyway as a result of being compromised and possibly ruined. It is also a bit top-heavy and the ground stake needs to be twice as long to compensate for this - it isn't so you may need an anchor of some kind. We slipped the hose between rocks which surround our garden - this served to stabilize the crow a bit. Before that it fell over any time it activated - sudden burst of water was enough to knock it over. I actually think a better solution would be to just replace the stake with one that is longer. I'm considering a run to Home Depot for that. Bottom line - after you get it set up and ready it works. It's a hoot to watch the cats get chased out of the garden by the burst of water and I personally like the fact that it doesn't harm the critters and varmints. :)

Scarecrow scares em off.
By Rich on 10/02/2014
Bought 3 of these last year. Aside from deer and other pesky animals, we've had "people" actually walking their dogs on our professionally maintained lawn and my wife's flower gardens. I have politely asked them several times to walk their dogs 60 ft. away in the vacant woods, to no avail. Being blasted with a shot of water has stopped this practice! I've purchased the 9V h.d. batteries and they last several month or more. By the way, seeing the deer, squirrels and roaming cats jump a few feet in the air upon being blasted creates some good giggles. LOL

Works as advertised
By Anonymous on 07/07/2013
For the first time in two years, my yard is dog-mess free. Imagine my glee when I heard the Scarecrow kick in, a yelp/bark and then the silence that followed. The only problem is I need two more to cover my side yard. I plan on chaining a few of these together. My cousin did get a surprise when he came to visit, but that is collateral damage. Great buy, much cheaper than a fence and just as effective.

Scaring the Rabbits
By Jessie on 05/15/2014
This was a birthday gift for a friend plagued by rabbits on her grass since the coyotes elimated the foxes who had kept the rabbits at bay. It has taken some experimenting to get the distance, angle and sensitivity right, and to cover the entire corner lot lawn she'll probably have to get another or move it around often. The only down side is that because of where the hose attaches, it isn't really low enough to the grass, but we aren't finished being creative.

Great With a Few Modifications
By Lynn on 07/23/2014
So far, since I put the Scarecrow in use, there have been no deer in my vegetable garden! Previously they were entering the garden and doing damage 2-3 times per week. I did do some of the modifications that others suggested as well as a few of my own. I used teflon tape on joins to lessen leakage, I simply did not attach the spiked portion - opting to attach to hose directly to the vertical pipe. I then attached the scarecrow to a metal garden stake with hose clamps. I am waiting to see how long before a battery change is needed - but on the whole I am very pleased!

ScarCrow Sprinkler is better than repellants.
By Alan on 07/25/2014
I have 2 of these I have used in a large garden for over a year and use them during the night only. The garden grew large enough to need 2 more so I ordered the additional ones from DoMyOwnPestControl and they arrived promptly. The ScareCrow sprinklers work well with only a couple of issues. One problem is that the stickers to create the face do not have fade resistant color and soon just turn white. This is OK since they still work just fine. You do need to learn how to position them best for your garden. One way is to just protect the approach to the interior and this works most of the time. Occasionally an animal will come in at an angle and enter the garden causing a bit of damage before wandering in front of a sprinkler. Once the sprinkler is activated it does the trick with deer. Smaller animals like woodchucks are more difficult because they can sneak in under the sensors. Another way is to select particularly tasty plants and protect them directly. Deer tend to head directly for those plants and again once a sprinkler is activated it usually clears the whole area with the flight response. For small animals it is better to trap them out and eliminate the source.

Awesome - Perfect Egret/Heron deterrent
By Goodguyswin on 01/27/2015
I have had this for over 1 month and I have seen it work. The Egret that kept eating my fish, now fly's away. The only issue I have, is sensitivity. When it gets a bit windy, this seems to go off without any kind of heat motion. There is an adjustment knob but I can't seem to find the perfect setting.

in general
By Fred on 05/28/2013
fun to play with,- you really should read their instructions first, and put on the stickers. if possible, all four corners of your house should have one. In my case, one corner is too close to neighbors. I sent email to the maker for info on extension pipes - no response. reduced sensitivity to exclude street traffic and wind in trees. it works for dogs, cats, and neighbors. have not noticed any more deer damage yet.

ScareCrow Sprinkler review
By Anonymous on 07/14/2013
I recently purchased the sprinkler about a month ago. I think it works great. It senses most animals...and people... from quite a distance. It even sprays when cars are driving on the road nearby. A downside to this is the battery lasts only about a month. The only problem is that the sprinkler has a hard time detecting smaller animals like baby bunnies. I watch out the window and see the bunnies gorging themselves on my lilies while the sprinkler sits idly by. I have the sprinkler set at about 3 yards away from the garden and the sensitivity is up to 7. Overall, this purchase is definitely worth it. Most rabbits have now left my lilies alone and are now after some of my other plants, so I may soon have to purchase another sprinkler!!

The dance of the cats
By Anonymous on 06/13/2013
I've had the Scare Crow for a little over a month now and the short answer is it works! Now the details: I have a cat problem! Its not that I don't like them, it's that they spray, poop, and fight each other, and I guess I'm the ring master. I've tried all the deterrence, red pepper and all the other smells that don't work. So I installed the Scare Crow and cleaned my garden of poop, i.e. the cat box! Each morning at about the same time the Scare Crow would go off. This went on for about a week. I inspected the cat box, (carefully) :$, and no poop. Hurray whatever is growing that should smell nice!!! You will need to tighten the hose to the Scare Crow a couple of times to stop the leaks but with a good garden hose that can stand the nonstop pressure and in my case in AZ the heat you will see results. Oh and as a bonus in my case no Dove Crap on my patio. If I can review again I'll post the results after a year of ownership.

ScareCrow Sprinkler Motion Activated Deterrent
By Anonymous on 06/26/2013
Works great, once issue of water dripping from vertical pipe. All fittings had continuous drips until I added Teflon tape to the male side of the fitting. The vertical pipe's washer was too small and had to be replace with larger washer to stop the drips. Once done all worked fine. It's an excellent deterrent to door to door salesmen also! Overall, your product gets a 4-1/2 out of 5 rating. I would recommend to all.

Scarerow Sprinkler
By Anonymous on 07/02/2013
Seems to be working well. The neighbor says her dog is scared to go near our front yard now when she walks him--good! Operates just as promised--even the distance and sensitivity. Would have liked a sturdier, longer spike to hold steady when ground becomes wet.

Solid performance
By Anonymous on 07/30/2013
For the first time in years, our garden is growing unmolested by the critters. I was skeptical, but this thing really works, and I'd recommend it to all who have problems with animals in their garden areas. And the best part; no harm to anything: it's just water!

It keeps the dogs from digging in their favorite spot
By Bruce on 04/29/2014
I put the scarecrow out in the middle of the yard to keep one of my dogs from re-digging up a spot in the yard. Every time I filled it she would did it up again. Finally I found this and now the grass if having a chance to fill in without the dog digging in that area again. It does go off sometimes for no reason, but that's OK the grass could use the quick spray now and again. Reduced one star for the occasional false sprayings even though it otherwise works fine. The 9volt battery seems to be good for about 2 weeks, I am using a rechargeable 9 volt to keep costs down.
