Is Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 safe on Zoysia Grass?

A

Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 should not be applied to Zoysia lawns as it could cause discoloration. We do offer Ferti-Lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4 safe for zoysia.

The Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 contains post-emergent herbicide for broadleaf weeds plus a 28-0-3 fertilizer. So the reason this is usually used in spring is because of the high nitrogen content. You would want to be careful about using that much nitrogen on your lawn when it's very hot, especially with cool-season turfgrasses which don't need as much nitrogen per year as warm-season grasses. Usually in the fall you would apply pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weeds and possible a winterizer fertilizer that has less nitrogen and more potassium.

Roughly how long does Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 take to absorb?
Put the product down Monday. Watered 2-3 times per day since -- but my lawn service just showed up and mowed my lawn. Have they 'blown away' the benefit I was hoping for?

We recommend waiting at least 2 days after using herbicides such as Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 before mowing the lawn. So if it has been at least 2 days and you followed the application directions on the product label, then your application should be effective.

According to the product label, you will need to apply Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 to wet or moist grass as this helps the product adhere to the grass. You can lightly water the lawn before applying or apply after the evening dew has set in, not before.

You should keep pets out of the treatment area until the Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 application has been watered in and had a chance to dry. Once the treatment area has completely dried, it is then safe for pets to re-enter the area.
