    Q
What is the withholding period for grazing after treating an area with SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    A

The active ingredient in Sedgehammer can remain in the soil for a long time. Since the manufacturer recommends waiting at least 3 years before planting vegetables in an area treated with Sedgehammer Herbicide, we recommend waiting at least this long before allowing animals to graze in an area treated with this herbicide.

    Q
Can SedgeHammer Herbicide be sprayed near pecan trees?
    A

When applying SedgeHammer Herbicide near edible trees be sure to apply it outside of the drip line.  According to the manufacturer, this product remains in the soil for up to 3 years so the manufacturer recommends that you not plant anything edible in an area where SedgeHammer has been applied for at least 3 years.

    Q
Can I spray Sedgehammer Herbicide on or around other plants ( flowers ) in the garden?
    A

Sedgehammer would need to be used as a spot treatment only around flowers or other desirable ornamentals as it would harm them if it came into contact with the foliage or roots. You can only safely broadcast sedgehammer in lawns.

    Q
Cam SedgeHammer be tank mixed with Grass Out Max and applied at the base of hardwood saplings?
We don't want to harm the saplings.
    A

Do not apply SedgeHammer Herbicide as an over the top spray to desirable flowers, ornamentals, vegetables, shrubs or trees.  Typically it is best to keep applications outside of the driplines of anything desirable so it would not be recommended to apply to the base of saplings.

  • Asked by Steve from Parlin, Nj

    Q
Is it still too early to use SedgeHammer+ on my sod?
I installed a turf type fescue/bluegrass 7 weeks ago and it looks healthy except for nutsedge coming thru. What should I do? Please help. The longer I wait the more nutsedge pops up. Thank you
    A

Per the product label, SedgeHammer+ Herbicide can be used on sod once it has been established. For your type of sod, that could take anywhere between 6 to 12 weeks.  We recommend test treating a small area first.

    Q
Do I need a surfactant when applying SedgeHammer Herbicide? When will I see possible results?
    A

The SedgeHammer Herbicide 13.5 gram packet already contains a surfactant so no additional surfactant would be needed. The 1.33 oz bottle of SedgeHammer Herbicide should be applied with a  Non-Ionic Surfactant for Herbicides. Most of our customers begin to see results in 5 to 7 days, as long as the product was applied correctly according to the label.

  • Asked by Tommy from Tabernacle, New Jersey
    08/09/2019
    Q
How long should I wait before applying Sedgehammer after my first application of Tenacity Herbicide?
I have a yellow nutsedge problem and wondering if I can apply Sedgehammer between or after 2-3 week time frame for 2nd application of Tenacity to really get rid of the nut sedge. Thoughts?
    A

Your desirable turfgrass is likely under a lot of extra stress due to the summer heat right now, so it would be better to wait the 2 weeks for the Tenacity application to work before applying another herbicide for the same target weeds. Sedgehammer will take about 2-4 weeks to show results on nutsedge, too, so you will need to be a little patient when treating for this weed.

How effective is SedgeHammer Herbicide in southern Virginia?
    A

SedgeHammer Herbicide can be used anywhere effectively and is most effective when applied to listed weeds on the product label that are young and actively growing.  For best results, spray nutsedge after it has reached the 3 - 8 leaf stage of growth.  Please review the product label to ensure your target weeds are listed.
