    Q
Which herbicide is the best for controlling nutsedge, Sedgehammer or Monument ?
    A

Either Sedgehammer or Monument could be used as they are both labeled for nutsedge and would be effective. Sedgehammer already comes with a surfactant in the 13.5 pack, whereas you would need a separate one with Monument.

  • Asked by Ron from Pa
    06/27/2016
    Q
Will SedgeHammer kill white and red clover?
I have sedge in my clover food plots for wildlife, and would like to control sedges, without harming clover.
    A

SedgeHammer Herbicide is not labeled to be used in food plots and is not labeled to control clover.  We currently do not have a product labeled to be used in food plots for clover.  Most of the time you have to spot treat where the sedge is coming up with a glyphosate based product like the Glyphosel Pro being careful to spray as little of the clover as possible.

  • Asked by Dan
    07/05/2016
    Q
How many seasons does it take Sedgehammer to completely rid your lawn of nut sedge?
    I have sparingly applied 1 - 2 applications.
    A

How long it takes really depends on how established the nutsedge has gotten in the yard.  It should be noted that weeds can develop resistance to herbicides such as Sedgehammer. To minimize the potential for resistance development and/or to control resistant weed biotypes, use a variety of cultural, mechanical, and chemical weed control tactics. Rotate with herbicides having other modes of action such as Blindside.  With Sedgehammer per the label: Symptoms are likely to show within 2 weeks and though it often works with one application, but depending on the size and age of the nutsedge a second treatment may be required 6 to 10 weeks after the initial treatment. .

  • Asked by Daniel from Erie, Pa
    07/25/2016
    Q
What can I use to get rid of nutsedge in deer food plots?
If Sedgehammer is not recommended for this application?
    A

Sedgehammer should not be used in and/or around any desirable vegetation. The only item that can be used inside of a food plot would be glyphosate products.

  • Asked by Val from Mo
    07/30/2016
    Q
Can Dawn dishwashing detergent be used as a surfactant with SedgeHammer Herbicide?
    A

SedgeHammer Herbicide comes in a 13.5 gram packet that has a built in surfactant and only requires you to add to one gallon of water in your sprayer. The 1.33 oz bottle does not include a surfactant so we would suggest using the Non-Ionic Surfactant For Herbicides rather than dish soap.

    Q
Does indicator dye inhibit efficacy of SedgeHammer Herbicide?
I would like to use this product as a spot spray. Indicator dye would make it easier to prevent missing and/or over application. However, I don't want to use it if it will interfere with efficacy.

SedgeHammer Herbicide will not effected by using a spray indicator with it. A spray indicator does ensure you have even herbicide application and that you do not miss places where you may need to treat.

Can I add food color to show coverage on the lawn when using SedgeHammer Herbicide?

You can use a spray indicator when applying herbicides like SedgeHammer Herbicide. We would recommend using a product that is specifically made for this use to ensure that it does not interfere with the efficacy of the herbicide. You can browse our Spray Indicators here.

  • Asked by Renee from Napoleonville
    10/27/2016
    Q
Can I still apply SedgeHammer Herbicide this late in the season?
I live in south Louisiana and have nut sedge actively growing. It was 84 degrees today (Oct 27th).
    A

Temperatures can have an effect on the SedgeHammer Herbicide. As long as the nutsedge is still actively growing it can be applied. Colder temperatures can prohibit growth of weeds, but you should still get usage out of the product with those temperatures.
