    Q
Will SedgeHammer Herbicide kill Bahia in my St. Augustine turf?
    A

No, SedgeHammer Herbicide will not kill Bahiagrass in St. Augustine.  It can safely be applied to both turf types. You could use a product like Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate. It can be used in established St. Augustine turf to kill Bahiagrass.

    Q
Can I mix Sedgehammer and Atrazine together? How much Sedgehammer to out to 15 gallons of water?

  • Asked by Dave from Granada Hills Ca
    05/06/2019
    Q
Will Sedgehammer work to kill my nutsedge?
I have sprayed nutsedge three times with Tenacity. The sedge is bright white and seems to grow but not as fast as before spraying 5 weeks ago. Sprouts keep popping up in an area I have been digging the root out, again they pop up white. I am going to try SedgeHammer after they pop up again, any advise?
    A

Tenacity is labeled to control yellow nutsedge only, so it could be you are treating purple nutsedge, or kyllinga, which is in the same family and looks similar to sedges. If you have applied the Tenacity to the sedge with a surfactant and it has not died out completely and is only white after 5 weeks we would suggest to go ahead and try the Sedgehammer on any new growth. Sedge control products are supposed to be very slow killing so that it can try to move through the whole plant and roots as much as possible. Sedgehammer can take at least 3-5 weeks to kill down to the root and can be reapplied after 6 weeks if a second application is needed.

  • Asked by Dee from Louisville, Ky
    07/20/2019
    Q
Do I need to pull the dead weeds after applying SedgeHammer Herbicide?
Sprayed landscape area and it's dying off, do I pull it out? Product works great but not sure of the next step when it starts dying off. Sprayed it in my landscape and would love to pull it out to clean up the areas. Is that ok?
    A

After treating with SedgeHammer+ Herbicide it will take time to completely kill the treated sedge but because the dead sedge will eventually decompose, there is no need to pull out the dead weeds.

  • Asked by Penny from Virginia

    Q
Can Sedgehammer be used in pasture?
I have nut sedge in my pasture can I use sedgehammer there? It will be grazed and used for hay. I have beef cattle and equine.
    A

SedgeHammer Herbicide is only labeled for turf and ornamental applications. It cannot be used in a pasture.Unfortunately, we apologize but do not have a product that would kill the sedge and also be safe for pasture areas.  We would recommend contacting your local agricultural department for a recommendation.

  • Asked by Ritchie from Columbia, Sc
    09/21/2019
    Q
Can I mix other herbicides with SedgeHammer such as Trimec?
    A

We would not recommend tank mixing SedgeHammer Herbicide with something like Trimec as the Sedgehammer requires a surfactant to use and Trimec does not.  Using one with Trimec could cause injury to your lawn since it already contains one and does not need any additional.

  • Asked by Jay from Houston, Tx
    07/31/2013
    Q
Does Sedgehammer kill native prairie grasses?
The grasses I want to protect include bluestems, Indian grass and Panicum species. Does Sedgehammer kill or inhibit them? Does it affect flowering plants like Liatrus (Kansas Gayflower)? Thank you.
    A

Sedgehammer is labeled to kill nutsedge without injury to listed established turfgrasses. You should not apply over-the-top of desirable ornamentals, shrubs, and/or trees.  We are not sure how the product would effect prairie so we recommend calling the manufacturer who is the expert on their own product.  The manufacturer is Gowan Company and they can be reached at (928) 783-8844.

  • Asked by Neal from Sherman Oaks, Ca
    04/20/2014
    Q
Can I safely use Sedgehammer on sedge in the ice plant?
Our rosea ice plant is infested with sedge. Will Sedgehammer kill our ice plant as well as the sedge? If "yes", is there a sedge-killing spray that will spare ice plant?
    A
Sedgehammer is meant more for nutsedge control in turf grass.  For nutsedge in landscaped areas it is recommended to spot treat the sedge with a glyphosate or Round Up type product directly.  We recommend Roundup QuickPro 1.5 oz. packs for ease of use.
