    Treating Bagworms

    By Anonymous on 07/29/2013

I was beside myself with 100s of bagworms all over my evergreen trees and shrubs, killing them. I used ecosmart insect killer, killed many but still had a bunch left. I tried Sevin and no more bagworms! Love this product! It works and not too expensive!!

    Worked better than other insecticides

    By Mic on 08/28/2012

I spray for cucumber beetles and sucker bugs. Sevin is safest and works the best. Sucker bugs will kill a plant in hours if not treated in time.

Q
If sprayed on pear trees when fruit is on will Sevin Concentrate penetrate the fruit skin?
A

No, per the manufacturer Sevin concentrate when used on pear trees when fruit is present will not penetrate the skin. However, you do want to try and spray upper and lower leaf surface, between fruit clusters, and on small limbs and trunks only to the point of run off where the pest appear. Even though there may be some over spray when spraying it would not harm the pear itself. You would just want to be sure when you do harvest the fruit that you wash it well before using or eating.

According to the Sevin Concentrate product label, which is always available on our website, "To effectively kill the vegetable pests listed below, mix 1.5 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water and apply product in adequate volume to effectively cover both the upper and lower surfaces of the plant." You did not indicate the vegetable you were spraying but we assume that it is squash. The pre-harvest interval is 3 days for squash and you can spray a maximum of 6 times per year.
