    Q
Can Sevin help with something that is eating leaves on my oak seedlings?
    Could be a caterpillar?
    A

Sevin Concentrate does treat a wide variety of insects on ornamental plants such as oak. You would use 1.5 oz of concentrate per gallon of water on ornamentals. We do recommend inspecting the plants, especially the undersides of the leaves, to help you identify what, exactly is causing the problem. We can make an accurate recommendation for you once you have identified a specific pest.

    Q
How much Sevin Concentrate Bug Killer do I use in water to kill genista worms on mountain laurel?
    A

For ornamental pest applications with Sevin Concentrate, you would use 1.5 oz. of concentrate per gallon of water. Since Seven Concentrate does not list this specific pest on the product label, you may also want to consider Monterey Bt Insecticide for caterpillars on ornamentals.

    Q
Will Sevin Concentrate kill a fungus on my bushes?
    A

Sevin Concentrate is only labeled for insects and will not treat any form of disease. A good option for fungus on your bushes would be Honor Guard PPZ Fungicide. The mixing rate for this is 1-2 fl oz per gallon of water every 14-28 days as needed.

    Q
Can Sevin Concentrate be applied to green beans?
I applied Sevin to my garden and I want to harvest the green beans. Are the beans safe to eat or do I have a waiting period before consuming?
    A

The Sevin product label states: Do not use on fresh/succulent peas and beans. Depending on the veggie treated the PHI or Pre Harvest Interval is 3-21 days before harvest. Q
Five hours after I sprayed Sevin concentrate on my green bean plants, it rained. Should I reapply?
    A

Per the Sevin Concentrate Product Label you would not want rain for at least 24 hours after application to ensure the pesticide is not washed from the treated surfaces. If you feel the product was washed away you can reapply when no rain is expected for 24 hours.

  • Asked by Pam from Henryville, In
    07/19/2015
    Q
Can vegetables be washed of Sevin to be eaten safely before PHI?
My husband sprayed our green beans and corn with Sevin and they are both ready now to pick. My husbands suggests I pick it anyway and just wash it off. Is this safe?
    A

Sevin Concentrate is not labeled to be applied to green beans so any that were sprayed with the product would need to be disposed of. For corn you should not harvest for 3 days after an application per the product label. Then, you can harvest the corn and wash it off safely. Consuming before the PHI directed on the product label would not be recommended to be safe.

    Q
How long before I can put my horses back on the pasture after spraying Sevin Concentrate for army worms?
    A

Unfortunately, per the manufacturer the Sevin Concentrate can't be used for this purpose. It is not labeled for any pasture or free range animal use, only for residential use, so we cannot advise on the time period.  You may check directly with the manufacturer if it has already been applied.  GardenTech can be reached at 866-945-5033.
