It provides them with food and a warm place to lay eggs. Once inside the trap, they cannot escape. Flies Be Gone bait is especially appealing to female flies. Up to 85% of flies caught are female, which helps decrease the next generation of flies.
Sevin Concentrate now contains zeta-cypermethrin which is a non-selective insecticide that will leave some residual. You can use a product like PyGanic Gardening if you want a contact kill with minimal residual. PyGanic Gardening can be used on ornamental and edible plants.
Sevin Concentrate is not for use on turf, only for use on ornamentals and listed edibles for adult Japanese Beetles. Keep in mind, however, that this product is not labeled for use inside of greenhouses. You can apply this to the exterior of structures and to plants outdoors.
The smallest rate on the label would be to use 1 oz of Sevin Concentrate in 32 oz of water. You can also possibly divide that in half to use .5 oz in 16 oz of water. Be sure only to use approved pump or back sprayers, not a trigger sprayer.
