  • Asked by Chris from Doylestown, Pa

    Q
Will Sevin Concentrate kill bees on contact?
    A

According to the Sevin Concentrate product label "This product is highly toxic to honeybees and other bees. Do not apply to plants in bloom." Almost all insecticides are toxic to bees as they are not really  selective.  You can help limit any effect to bees by being careful not to apply the insecticides when bees are actively foraging in the area.

  • Asked by William from Poway Ca
    08/26/2021
    Q
If planning to use beneficial nematodes to kill Japanese Beetle larva (white grubs) that are eating my strawberry roots, can I also apply Sevin Concentrate to kill the adult Japanese Beetles without injurying the nematodes?
    A

The active ingredient Zeta-Cypermethrin contained in Sevin Concentrate could potentially harm beneficial nematodes, so we would not recommend applying at the same time.  According to the product label for application to berries, Sevin Concentrate should be applied as a spot treatment for pest infestations on the berries.  Apply spray mixture to upper and lower leaves, around fruit clusters, and on branches and trunks up to the point of runoff.  Reapply if insects return, but not more than once every seven days and according to pre-harvest intervals.

  • Asked by Lewis from Macomb
    09/01/2021
    Q
Will Sevin Concentrate control fleas and ticks in my lawn?
    A

Sevin Concentrate is not labeled for use on lawns. You can use Sevin Granules on lawns for ticks and fleas. For fleas, you would use 4-9 lbs per 1,000 square feet. Apply up to 3 times a year with at least 7 days between applications.

Keep in mind that Sevin is just a contact kill, so it will not have residual effect for fleas, ticks, or other listed pests. For a residual granule to use instead, you could use Talstar XTRA Granules every 30-60 days.

Please see our Flea Treatment Guide and Tick Treatment Guide for more tips on eradicating these pests.

Does Sevin Concentrate freeze in shipping?
    A

Sevin Concentrate like other insecticides has the possibility of freezing when stored in freezing temperatures. We would recommend storing it out of extreme temperatures.
