    If Snake away is applied in an area that already has snakes what will happen?

    Snake Away is a repellent and will keep snakes away from the areas that it is applied around.  If snakes are already present at the time of application it will drive them out of the area.

    When will the powerful smell of Snake Away go away?

    Snake Away is a repellent containing napthalene and sufur, two intentionally strong smelling active ingredients as they are intended to irritate snakes' sensory organs. The repellent lasts about 3 months when used in accordance with the product label.

    Does Snake Away work for Copperhead and other Pit Viper snakes found in Dallas, Texas?
    A

    Snake Away does not consistently repel copperhead snakes or cotton mouths or other types of "moccasin snakes" accroding to the product label. Here is a list of the snakes that Snake Away has been tested on and the effectivness of the product on each species of snake:

    Effectiveness test were conducted by Dr. Harvey Lillywhite, Professor of Reptology, University of Florida. Dr. Lillywhite is internationally recognized as one of the worlds leading research reptologists. Over ten years of independent research and follow-up tests were also conducted by Dr. T's Nature Products. Inc. The effectiveness of the repellent is demonstrated by the following experiments performed with various species and the product has been found to have a rate of efficacy that varies from 17% to 100% depending on the individual species.

    Can I use this in areas where dogs and children play?
    A
    Most pets would be repelled by Snake Away  in addition to snakes.  That being said, it can be harmful to pets if consumed.  You should do what you can to keep children and pets away as much as possible from the product.

    Is there any thing I can do to make the smell of Snake Away less strong?
    I put snake away around the house and the smell is to strong.

    The smell of Snake Away can be quite strong at first and is needed to do its job. The smell should start to fade after a few days outdoors. The only way to eliminate it quickly would be to physically remove the repellent. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

    Will Snake Away repel common FL lizards (gecko, anoles, skinks)?
    A
    Snake Away is not labeled for lizards of any kind and has not been tested on them so we do not know if it will work for this type of application. The only surefire way to cut down on the lizards population in a given place is Outdoor habitat modification. In short get rid of the reasons lizards are there in the first place. They are there because they are finding the food they need to survive (insects) and a place to harbor. If you can eliminate either of these essentials, you can get rid of the lizards. Spray a good residual insecticide such as Cyper WP around the outside of your home to help cut down on the number of insects the lizards are eating. If lizards cannot find enough food they will either move on or starve. Eliminate as much clutter and debris around the outside of your home as possible to eliminate the places lizards like to hide. Rake back mulch or rocks at least 6 inches from the structure

    I have seen baby snakes under the brick ground level patio at my back door last year. I have the snake away .
    I want to make sure the snakes are no longer close to my back door under the bricks. Where should I start to sprinkle the crystals. I dont want to lock them close to my house.I just want them out my yard if possible and away from patio.

    I have a large yard...if I put this around three sides of the fence, will the snakes exit out the open side?
    I want them to go back to the neighbor's house where they came from. I am afraid if I put this around the entire perimeter of our yard, they will be "trapped" in the area. We have over 10 garden snakes just in the backyard alone and one got into our home over the weekend ( came in through a small opening in the wall ). We are afraid we have an infestation, again from the neighbor's yard ( rotting wooden shed, overgrown lawn and waist high weeds ). Any help or suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated!

    If you place the Snake Away on three sides and leave an area for them to exit that would be better then placing a full perimeter treatment. Applying on all sides could keep them inside the area.

    Snake Away is most effective in Spring, Summer, and Fall when snakes are active. How well snake repellents work will depend on what type of snakes are in the area.     Can you use Snake Away where a snake is already present?
    A

    When using a repellent such as Snake Away, you want to think of the application as a barrier that snakes will not cross. You can use repellents to move snakes from one area to another, but if, for instance, you make a barrier around a property with snakes on the inside, then you are effectively keeping them inside that area.

    The odor from Snake A Way is not really harmful to people, but some do find it to be offensive.  It does not release harmful fumes.

    How to get rid of a snake living in your house's framework?
    I saw a 3 to 4 foot snake, about 3 inches in diameter slithering from between my house's hardiplank exterior siding and the foundation. Obviously, it is living in the house's framework. If I use that Snake Away while the snake in in the framework, won't it just stay inside the framework and die, causing it to rot and possibly start making the house stink? Plus, a dead snake may bring in ants. Please advise. Thank you.

    We have a great guide here for "How to Get Rid of Snakes" that might help.  When using Snake Away you apply first to only 3 sides of the area you want to keep them out so that they have an exit. Then apply to the 4th side.  When snakes are often found on a property it is usually indicative of a high rodent population. If you control the rodents on your property, you can limit the snakes as well as they will have to search elsewhere for food.     How can we remove the Snake A Way smell from inside the house?!
    We applied Snake Away as directed outside of our house, but now inside the house smells TERRIBLE like the product's chemicals!! We didn't apply any inside at all - how can we get rid of this smell ASAP?!

    I have a little 700 sq ft apartment and just put 4 lbs of Snake A Way around my little apartment on the outside. It smells terrible and I am worried about my health because I sit out on the back patio every evening....is this going to be a problem?

    Snake A Way is designed to have a very offensive smell to help deter snakes from inhabiting places where they’re not wanted.  The smell is not harmful to people, other than the fact that it is unpleasant.  The smell also helps to alert you to the fact that you may need a repeat application, as when the smell starts to dissipates the effectiveness may have diminished.

    Is Snake Away safe to use near vegetable gardens & Plants?
    Behind my subdivision home is a green area between two major subdivisions having an large deep trench for flood control and a portions aways has water. I am told that all kinds of snakes come into the yards that back up the this area. I am scared to death of snakes but don't have anything else against them. If I put Snake away near the back of my fence opposite of my yard, is the produce safe which would be near my vegetable garden and plants?

    Will Snake Away keep Coral snakes away also?

    According to the manufacturer, Snake Away has been shown to repel the Eastern Coral snake (micrurus fulvius) 100%. Unfortunately Snake Away has been not been shown to be very effective for the Western Coral snake (Micruroides euryxanthus). You may want to contact your local cooperative extension office to see what type of coral snakes you have in your area.
