    Q
Can this Snapshot 2.5 TG be applied to a fescue lawn and to mondo grass as a pre emergent?
I get a ground cover lacy weed in my lawn that I can't get rid of.
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG is not labeled to be used in any turf grasses. It is meant to be used in landscape beds and around trees. There are many different types of weeds in your area that would fit this description.  We would most likely need an identification before recommending a product so that we can get the one that best fits your needs.

  • Asked by Derek from Saint Augustine, Fl
    03/05/2017
    Q
Can Snapshot 2.5 TG be used on perennial peanut?
I have perennial peanut as a ground cover rather than grass. Will it hurt the peanut?
    A

The Snapshot 2.5 TG product manufacturer states that they do not know whether it would be safe to use over perennial peanut since it is not on the label. This article on Perennial Peanut in Urban Landscapes suggests spot-treating weeds with a Roundup-type product that is non-selective in this particular groundcover.

How careful do I have to be on edge of mulch beds and the turf with Snapshot? Can it cause turf damage?
    A

Per the product label for Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs: Accidential application to turf may occur when applying.  It is not recommended for weed control in turfgrass, but turfgrasses are generally tolerant to small amounts of the product that fall outside of the intended area of application.

  • Asked by Eric from Woodbridge, Va

    Q
How should I apply Snapshot 2.5 TG to my tall fescue grass?
I have tall fescue grass. I have purple color weeds all over the yard. Moran Landscaping recommended this product. I need to know if it needs to be applied to the entire yard or just the area with the purple weeds.
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs. is not labeled for weed control in turfgrass in any way and would not be recommended, it is only for landscaped areas, ground covers, etc.  It is a pre-emergent herbicide only and does not kill any actively growing emerged weeds.

    Q
How long after applying Snapshot do I need to wait to plant seeds for annuals and ornamentals?
    A

Since Snapshot 2.5 TG is a pre-emergent, meaning that it prevents seeds from germinating, you should not plant any seeds you want to grow and germinate for at least 4 to 6 months after applying Snapshot, since it will prevent them from growing during this time.

    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs.  is not labeled for Creeping Red Fescue. We would not advise applying Snapshot.  We do want to offer Pennington Pro 0-0-7 which is listed to help prevent weeds safely in Creeping Red Fescue.

Does it harm the plant? Or make them unsafe to consume?

Yes, you could apply Snapshot more than once during the year in accordance with the product label. Fall applications will help control winter weeds such as poa annua. Repeat applications at 150 lb per Acre and higher should not be made sooner than 60 days after a previous application of Snapshot 2.5 TG. Do not apply over 600 lb per Acre total of Snapshot 2.5 TG within a 12-month period. Be sure to follow label precautions in areas where you may intend to transplant or grow other plants in the future.

  • Asked by Jim from Mapleton, Illinois
    08/11/2017
    Q
Which pre-emergent products do you recommend for over-the-top application of Liriope Muscart 'Big Blue' ?
I have 500 recently planted bare root Liriope plants and 3500 established (one to four year old) Liriope plants. I also have a large number of Ajuga (Burgundy Glow I think) plants that have no spaces between the plants (except for multiple types of weeds!). Please recommend pre-emergent and post-emergent products that can be applied over these plants that will help minimize weeds without harming the Liriope and Ajuga. Thank you!!
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG is one of our most popular pre-emergent herbicides for use around ornamentals and ground covers, and several types of liriope are listed as tolerant on the product label. These plants would need to be established before applying the Snapshot or most other pre-emergent herbicides. A popular post-emergent for use around liriope is Fusilade II Herbicide, which will target grassy weeds. Always read the product label before purchasing and applying herbicides to ensure that it will fit your needs.

  • Asked by Rosemary
    08/16/2017
    Q
Can Snapshot be applied on rose bushes?
    A

Roses are not specifically listed as plants that have been tested as tolerant of Snapshot 2.5 TG. However, this pre-emergent is designed for use around established landscape ornamentals, so if the plants are well-established and healthy, Snapshot should not damage them. If you have a large area of rosebushes and are not sure of their health, then you may want to use the product around a small number of plants first to test tolerance. Be sure to follow the label rates and application instructions on the product label.
