In what order do I use the products for bed bugs?
I ordered sterifab, temprid, gentrol spray and alpine dust. Do you have to wait for 1 product to dry before using another?

There really is no particular order for each product but we do suggest you put down the liquids first and let them dry and then put down the Alpine dust so you don't wind up with a pasty mess.

    Q
Will Sterifab rid the home of cat parvo or panleukopenia?
Panleukopenia is a viral disease, basically the cat version of dog parvo. I have read that the home must be thoroughly cleaned to get rid of it. People usually use bleach but I want something that I can spray, will this product work?
    A

Sterifab is not labeled to be applied to animals. We would recommend to speak with the Vet to see which products will help treat this rapid virus. One of the most thorough cleaning products we sell is Nisus DSV. Please see the product label for complete use instructions.

    Q
Does Steri-Fab Insecticide really work on bedbugs?
    A

Yes, Steri-Fab does indeed work on bedbugs, but it should not be the only product you use to treat a bed bug infestation.  It kills them on contact, but does not continue to work once it has dried.  We normally recommend that you use one of our Bed Bug Kits so that you will have everything necessary for a complete treatment.  You may also want to look over our Bed Bug Guide for more information on treating and preventing this pest.

  • Asked by Huong

    Q
I have bird mites in my house, which products do you recommend?
I would like to know, how long does it take before I can get rid all of them? I don't have pets in my house.
    A

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites.  If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

    Q
How to Get Rid of Springtails?
I ordered this product three weeks ago. At the time I ordered, I thought the bugs were fleas, but I now I know they are springtails. Will Steri-Fab be effective in eliminating springtails?
    A
No, Steri-Fab is not a recommended product for springtails.  Springtails indicate that there is a moisture issue because they breed in walls or under slabs where a moisture issue may exist.  Typically, pesticides alone will not take care of a springtail problem.  It is required to fix whatever moisture issue is causing the problem.  You should read our "How To Get Rid of Springtails" article for further information.

    Q
Does this product work for sarcoptic mites?
My dog is infected and I need to treat the throw rugs and upholstery. Will it kill sarcoptic mites ?
    A
Unfortunately there are not really many products on the market that are actually labeled for sarcoptic mites specifically. Steri-Fab is labeled for mites in general and will very likely kill sarcoptic mites. Steri-Fab has an insecticide and an alcohol base. This combination allows for a fast kill of just about any insect that Steri-Fab is sprayed on plus a super fast drying time.
