Suspend Polyzone is safe to apply in poultry houses when animals are not present until treated areas are completely dry. We do not recommend treating areas where animals graze.
Suspend Polyzone is only for treating cracks and crevices inside, it cannot be used as a broadcast across floors. Tengard is an option that has the same active as Dragnet. For hard surfaces though you do not need to treat the entire floor. Treatment should be more directed to cracks and crevices on hardwood and tile floors as that is where the eggs and young would be. Please see our Flea Treatment Guide for more tips and information about treating this pest.
We would recommend Suspend Polyzone when treating Palmetto Bugs. The Palmetto Bug, also known as the American Cockroach, or waterbug, is reddish-brown in color, about 1.5 inches in length, and has wings but will seldom actually fly. Getting rid of this pest requires patience, persistence, and a combination of both chemical and non-chemical methods.
Step 1) Non Chemical Methods for Palmetto Bug Control
Sanitation
Like most pests, Palmetto Bugs require 3 things to thrive-food, water, and harborage. If you can eliminate even one of these things through proper sanitation, the roach population will be forced to either die or move someplace else.
Exclusion
Palmetto Bugs prefer to live outdoors, but will easily set up residence indoors if they can find their way inside. Exclusion is about keeping Palmetto Bugs out or at least making it harder for them to get in.
Step 2) Chemical Methods for Palmetto Bug Control
Dust Cracks & Crevices
Apply a Liquid Residual to the Perimeter
Baits
Kill ‘em on Contact
Contact sprays will kill roaches immediately on contact, and can also be used to "flush out" roaches from suspected harborages. Contact Sprays for Palmetto Bugs include CB-80 Extra, Cy-Kick, D-Force HPX, 565 Plus XLO.
Don't Skip the IGR!
An IGR is a chemical used to disrupt and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce. In short, IGR is a form of "birth control" for Palmetto Bugs and other pests, which helps to keep populations under control by preventing current and future infestations.
Per the product label, you should rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes and contact your local poison control center or family physician. You should also do the same if you suspect you have inhaled a significant amount of Suspend Polyzone.
Both Demand CS and Suspend Polyzone are considered repellents so insects are able to detect that either product has been applied to an area. This does not mean that they are repelled from the area as they do have to contact the product to be effected by it.
Suspend Polyzone is safe in homes that have children and pets if used as directed on the product label. They should not be in the treated area during application and when the surfaces are wet. They can re-enter when completely dried. The scent has a sweet characteristic, mild odor that eventually dissipates. We recommend that you do not spray with any liquids if your lungs hurt and you have asthma attacks and COPD. We recommend that you apply a professional roach bait gel such as the Maxforce bait stations and consult with your doctor for treatments that are safe for you. We do offer non-poisonous glue boards also.
You cannot mix Demon WP with Suspend Polyzone. Both of these products are synthetic pyrethroids, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.
Suspend Polyzone and Deltagard both contain the same active ingredient. Suspend Polyzone has a longer outdoor residual of 90 days due to the polymer technology. They both are labeled for mosquitoes.
Suspend Polyzone is a great option for use in and around your yard for gnat control. This product has a residual of 90 days outdoors and indoors. It features a proprietary polymer layer that protects the active ingredient from weather, irrigation, and mechanical abrasion. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.
According to the product label, you can indeed apply Suspend Polyzone to kennels: "For residual control of crawling and flying insects in and around these structures, apply as a general surface and/or crack and crevice spray. Optimal control results if facilities to be treated are clean and if the exterior perimeter is concurrently treated with this product. Apply only to areas of facility where animals are not present.
Allow spray to dry before allowing re-entry of animals into treated areas. Do not apply to animal feed
or watering equipment. Do NOT treat pets with this product."
Suspend SC is an excellent product and should give you great results. It controls a wide variety of crawling, flying, turf, and ornamental pests found in and around households, including, but not limited to, ants, bed bugs, beetles, boxelder bugs, chinch bugs, fleas, mosquitos, pantry pests, roaches, and spiders.
If you are treating outdoors, you may want to consider using Suspend Polyzone. It features a proprietary polymer layer that protects the active ingredient from weather, irrigation and mechanical abrasion. This controlled release formulation, which resists erosion, ensures your treatment will continue to control targeted pests for up to 90 days outdoors. It also stays right where you put it, so if you want to increase the effectiveness of your treatments, put the science of Suspend Polyzone to work for you.
Suspend Polyzone cannot be used on or around edible vegetation. It cannot be applied within 5 feet of a well.
We would recommend using Suspend Polyzone. This product features a proprietary polymer layer that protects the active ingredient from weather, irrigation and mechanical abrasion which is perfect for Florida weather. This will last approximately 90 days indoors and outdoors. Be sure to spray around the perimeter of your home, around windows and doors, etc. when treating outdoors. Indoors, you will spray around baseboards, cracks and crevices. The mixing ratio is 0.75 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for animals and children to return to the area. It is important to keep in mind that millipedes breed in moist, dark areas, so look for ways you can make the environment less conducive for these insects. See our General Pest Prevention Guide for information on how to use good sanitation and exclusion to eliminate these an other pests from your home.
Suspend Polyzone is considered a repellent because insects can detect it. This does not mean they are truly repelled from the area they can just choose to avoid it as they know something is there. They must contact the treated area to be effected by the product though
The mixing ratio of Suspend Polyzone is 0.25-1.5 fl. oz. per gallon of water for mosquitoes. It is recommended that you treat at the higher ratio, which is 1.5 fl. oz. per gallon of water for your first treatment, and for subsequent treatments, use 0.25 fl. oz. per gallon of water. For 50 gallons of water, you will use 12.5-75 fl. oz.
It would be recommended to remove birds from any treated areas during treatment and for at least a few hours after application as birds can be highly sensitive to chemicals. Suspend Polyzone is only applied along baseboards and in cracks and crevices so very limited indoor areas as directed on the product label.
