    Money Well Spent!

    By John on 05/18/2013

    Verified Purchase

I Bought this and the 1 gal. mixing jug last April. My wife and I bought our house in 2007 and after removing the exterior brush - Found we had a termite problem, a stink bug problem, spider issues along with ants and yellow jackets galore. My wife was so disgusted and grossed out, she almost left! So we got a service that said they would take care of everything "don't worry; if you have an emergency, we'll be right over - all included, and you will never see a bug in your home again!" That was a bunch of lies and a big waste of money. I found DMOPC one night when I was just about to give up - and thought the Suspend Polyzone was less expensive than the useless service that didn't work, so I had nothing to lose, right? Well we gained, peace of mind and I re-gained a happy wife. We went from having swarms of stink bugs crawling up the exterior walls and spent too much time catching the ones that got in the house - to, now only seeing a few here or there outside; and maybe one or two live ones as well as many more dead ones inside the house. Now, when the spiders and ants begin to reappear we know it is time to do another spraying (so far that has been every 6 months). As for the yellow jackets - well they just don't like our house as much anymore, especially when we find and spray down a nest during treatment, they crawl out of the nest and die immediately. As for termites we haven't seen a mud trail since, and we still have the bait/test stations left by the previous service - and haven't seen any new activity since we have been doing our own pest control spraying the Suspend Polyzone! Following the instructions and mixing in the recommended one gallon spray jug goes a long way to treat both the interior and exterior of our oversized cape. The one pint of Suspend Polyzone is just at the half way point and should last for another year. Do the math - so called professional service cost nearly $1,000 per year versus $100.00 to do two years of DMOPC this way(if you don't buy the recommended jug it is less than $50.00 for 2 years). So happy to have realized we are saving close to $2000.00! Can't beat that!

    Suspend Polyzone

    By Dan on 09/17/2012

This is the only product that I've used so far that really does kill stink bugs. When I first used it I didn't think it worked so I called DoMyOwnPestControl and asked them why it wasn't getting rid of the bugs. I told them that I sprayed it right on some of the bugs and they didn't fall down. They told me that it didn't knock them down instantly but they assured me that it does work. Here it is two weeks later, all I can say is that IT REALLY DOES WORK. Yes there are very few stink bugs coming around and they don't seem to stay very long. I also find dead ones laying around the house. And it is residual. I sprayed two weeks ago and they are still dropping like all over the place. And a PS here - DMOPC is a great company to deal with.

    No more bugs!

    By Anonymous on 07/24/2013

    Verified Purchase

Received this 3 days after ordering. Mixed using .75 ounce per gallon and sprayed the inside and outside of my pole barn where I had a ton of spiders and other bugs. The next morning when I went out there were dead bugs everywhere! It's been 10 days and I have not seen a bug since. If this truly lasts for 3 months I'll be extremely happy. I'll try and update this after 90 days to give to give a review of the lasting effects.

    suspend polyzone

    By Dave on 08/19/2012

i think bayer finally got it right with suspend polyzone. i didn't have much faith in or success with the original formula, but adding the polymer seems to be working as good as advertised. i even understand bayer's looking into adding this polymer to some of their other sc products. well done!

Q
What is the best product to kill or get rid of millipedes in Southwest Florida?
A

We would recommend using Suspend Polyzone. This product features a proprietary polymer layer that protects the active ingredient from weather, irrigation and mechanical abrasion which is perfect for Florida weather. This will last approximately 90 days indoors and outdoors. Be sure to spray around the perimeter of your home, around windows and doors, etc. when treating outdoors. Indoors, you will spray around baseboards, cracks and crevices. The mixing ratio is 0.75 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for animals and children to return to the area. It is important to keep in mind that millipedes breed in moist, dark areas, so look for ways you can make the environment less conducive for these insects. See our General Pest Prevention Guide for information on how to use good sanitation and exclusion to eliminate these an other pests from your home.

Q
Would you recommend Suspend Polyzone or Phantom for palmetto bugs?

What else can I do?

A

We would recommend Suspend Polyzone when treating Palmetto Bugs. The Palmetto Bug, also known as the American Cockroach, or waterbug, is reddish-brown in color, about 1.5 inches in length, and has wings but will seldom actually fly. Getting rid of this pest requires patience, persistence, and a combination of both chemical and non-chemical methods.

Step 1) Non Chemical Methods for Palmetto Bug Control

Sanitation
Like most pests, Palmetto Bugs require 3 things to thrive-food, water, and harborage. If you can eliminate even one of these things through proper sanitation, the roach population will be forced to either die or move someplace else.

  • Discard old boxes and piles of papers where roaches can hide.
  • Use a waste bin or trash can with a tight-fitting lid and keep trash in a closed plastic bag overnight.
  • Fix leaky drains and faucets; roaches can live on water alone.
  • Clean kitchen appliances thoroughly
  • Empty pet food containers at night, or place them on the back porch or in a plastic bag.
  • Vacuum regularly, and restrict food consumption to one room of the house. This will help keep Palmetto Bugs and other pests from spreading into other areas such as bedrooms.

Exclusion
Palmetto Bugs prefer to live outdoors, but will easily set up residence indoors if they can find their way inside. Exclusion is about keeping Palmetto Bugs out or at least making it harder for them to get in.

  • Caulk and repair holes around doors, windows, water pipes, and baseboards.
  • Place mesh screens over windows, floor drains, and vents. These places serve as roach hideaways.
  • Windows and doors should fit tightly and squarely within their frames to prevent both harborage and entry from outside.

Step 2) Chemical Methods for Palmetto Bug Control

Dust Cracks & Crevices

  • The dusts that works best against Palmetto Bugs is Delta Dust and CB Borid Boric Acid.
  • Using a hand duster and following label instructions, apply dust liberally where roaches travel--underneath and behind baseboards, behind wall outlets, in wall voids, in cupboards and cabinets, and underneath appliances such as washers and dryers.

Apply a Liquid Residual to the Perimeter

  • Suspend SC, or Suspend Polyzone provide excellent control when mixed in a 2-gallon sprayer and applied at a low-pressure setting.
  • Spray indoors along baseboards, especially in corners; window and door frames, on the underside of the furniture, behind bookshelves, and in other problem areas as listed on the product label. With Palmetto bugs, the outer perimeter of the home or structure should also be treated.
  • Residual sprays need to be reapplied every month to every 3 months, depending on the level of infestation.

Baits

  • Use Niban FG in attics, basements, and crawlspaces where Palmetto Bugs enter, and
  • For added protection, spread DeltaGard G Granules outdoors in pine straw and mulched areas surrounding the infested structure.

Kill ‘em on Contact
Contact sprays will kill roaches immediately on contact, and can also be used to "flush out" roaches from suspected harborages. Contact Sprays for Palmetto Bugs include CB-80 ExtraCy-Kick, D-Force HPX565 Plus XLO.

Don't Skip the IGR!
An IGR is a chemical used to disrupt and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce. In short, IGR is a form of "birth control" for Palmetto Bugs and other pests, which helps to keep populations under control by preventing current and future infestations.

  • The most common and effective IGR for roach control is Gentrol IGRwhich comes in an aerosol , concentrated liquidand point-source tablet.

  • We recommend Gentrol IGR Concentrate to be added to your hand sprayer and sprayed right along with your baseboard chemical (Suspend SC, or Suspend Polyzone .
  • For kitchen and bathroom areas, Gentrol Aerosol is the formulation of choice. Using the straw attachment, the IGR should be applied liberally to all visible cracks and crevices, including underneath, behind, and alongside appliances, behind outlets, along pipe collars, inside wall voids, and on top of kitchen cabinets near the ceiling.

  • Continue to apply IGR every 4 to 6 weeks for up to 6 months, or until all signs of infestation have been eliminated.
