    Q
Is this Suspend SC safe for wildlife (birds, lizards) and beneficial insects?
I am concerned about affecting birds, lizards, and earthworms if I were to use this product.
    A
Suspend SC is not selective and will eliminate any insect that contacts the treated area, including beneficial insects. You can help eliminate the impact on beneficial insects by limiting the application to only areas where actually needed. After the prdocut has dried it is not harmful to other animals.

    Q
Do I need to use a respirator when applying Suspend SC?
Hi, I purchased this product, but I am concerned. Besides covering my skin (as much as possible), do I also need to use a respirator. Instructions say "avoid breathing vapor or spray mist". It does not sound like a dust mask will suffice. Any thoughts?
    A
In most cases, a respirator would not be needed. Typically, you would spray the Suspend SC either outdoors or indoors in ventilated areas. If you need to treat in confined, unventilated areas however a respirator would be needed. We sell the Comfo Classic Respirator on our website if you need to purchase one.

    Q
Will Suspend SC kill or deter Japanese Beetles on rose bushes? If so how often should it be applied?
    A
According to the Suspend SC product label this product is labeled for Japanese beetles and will provide anti-feedant properties on treated ornamentals against Japanese beetles. We do recommend testing any pesticide you choose to use on one plant before treating all of the plants to check for damage. You do want to try to spray the leafy parts of plants while avoiding the blooms as much as possible. Applications should be repeated every 21 days to maintain control.

    Q
Can you mix Suspend with any other insecticide?
    A

There is no valid reason to mix Suspend SC with another insecticide. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas, prolonging the infestation.

    Q
What is the best pesticide for carpet beetles to use indoors that won't harm a cat?
    A

Please visit our Carpet Beetle Control Page.

Vacuuming: Carpet beetle larvae like to feed in dark, undisturbed locations like closets, attics, basements, and storage areas. The wide availability of food sources for the larvae (including dust and lint, and pet hair) makes vacuuming the best way to ensure there is minimal food for the larvae to feed on. Vacuuming can also help to remove the larvae and adult beetles already in the home. Regular vacuuming and laundering of rugs, furniture, and linens can help to ensure the beetles are removed and have no food source. If you find a contaminated item, bag and remove this item from your home, if possible.

Proper storage: Before storing silks, woolens, or furs, dry clean as the beetles are attracted to stains and soiled garments. Store in a well-sealed container, using mothballs. Mothballs can limit the beetle’s attraction to the wool or silk. Store pet food, dried meat, and other dried animal products in a well-sealed container.

Insecticides: For things that cannot be washed or dry cleaned, insecticides are the best bet for prevention and eradication. Both Talstar P and Suspend SC are excellent products to use.

Insecticides can be used for spot-treatments, as a boundary at the edges of rugs, under rugs, under furniture, walls and floors of closets, shelving, cracks, and lint or dust accumulating areas. Be careful around oriental rugs or other fabrics, as some insecticides can stain. Never spray clothing or bedding with insecticide, and always read instructions. They are safe for pets if they are not in the area during the application. The pets can return once the surfaces have completely dried.

    Q
What is the best product for use around the house, Demon WP or Suspend SC?
Have had some success with your Suspend product with the fire ants and large roaches. Silverfish are already in the house. Neighbors are recommending your Demon product for better barrier control for ants and roaches. Please recommend best overall product. Also recommend product for Silverfish.
    A
Suspend SC and Demon WP are both synthetic pyrethroid products and both offer great control of the pests you mentioned. Demon WP will last a bit longer outdoors and since it is a wettable powder it also stays on the surface of porous areas such as concrete or wood which creates a greater opportunity for insects to come into contact with it. The downside to this is that Demon WP will leave behind a white powdery residue that is especially noticeable on dark surfaces. Both Demon WP and Suspend SC can be used indoors for silverfish control but because of the white powdery residue that Demon WP can leave behind it may be best to stick with Suspend SC for this use. You can also use Dekko Silverfish Paks to help control the silverfish in hidden areas indoors. Silverfish simply eat through the pack and ingest the poison inside. Place in closets, drawers, bookcases, basements, garages and other dark hidden places. Each pack lasts up to 4 months.

    Q
    Pond water as carrier
Will Suspend SC still be effective if you use a pond or lake as the water source for mixing. Is there usually too much organic material or ph issues that will render solution useless? If okay, approximately how long can you store the mixed solution before it becomes useless?
    A
Pond water should be absolutely fine for you to use to mix the Suspend SC with when treating around your home and the water ph should not cause any problems. You only want to mix up what you plan to use as anything mixed needs to be used with 24-48 hours after being combined.

  • Asked by Tally from North Salt Lake, Ut
    07/02/2013
    Q
How would I go about preparing my rooms for indoor spraying of Suspend SC?
Can clothes and shoes be kept in the room? So long as they aren't beig directly sprayed? (For example, can I put them in the middle of the room until the Suspend dried, or should I take them out entirely??) Also, I have a Boston Terrier, is suspend sc safe for her? If so, how long does she have to be away from the area I order not to get harmed? If she does get harmed, what symptoms can I look out for to get her Vetrenatian care as soon as possible?
    A
Suspend SC is safe for humans and animals to be around after the treated area has dried. This normally takes approx. 1-2 hours. As long as your belongings are not directly sprayed Suspend will pose no harm. Please be sure to follow the product label application instructions.
