  • Asked by Ronald from Eureka, Ca. 95503

    Q
Will Suspend SC be successful in getting rid of Rat Mites?
    A

Suspend SC is not labeled specifically for rodent mites. The easiest method to control rodent mites that have entered your home is to physically remove them with a vacuum cleaner or wipe them up with a moist cloth. Mites are not automatically killed by a vacuum cleaner so freeze the bag to prevent the mites from crawling back out.

Locating the source and eliminating the hosts and nests is important to prevent further problems with these mites. Nests are usually located in attics, basements, or inside walls. If necessary, trap them with kill traps or glue boards. Spray the dead rat and its nest with a disinfectant.

Removing the mite source (dead mice, rats, and abandoned nests) is very important. Unless you remove their source, rat mites will continue to seek human host infesting your house.

    Q
Can I use Suspend SC for spiders? Will it prevent them from building webs?
    A

Yes, Suspend SC is great for treating spiders and their food source (which naturally drives them away from the area). This product would not prevent spiders from forming webs as they have to come in contact with the treated area in order for it to kill them. To actually prevent spider webs it would be better to use a product like Web Out.

    Q
What's the best way to apply Suspend SC for ground bees?
    A

Suspend SC is not labeled for ground bees. A better option is Tempo SC Ultra as it is more aggressive on the stinging insects. You will mix Tempo SC Ultra in a one-gallon hand pump sprayer and apply the one gallon of mixed solution over the area. (1 gallon per 1,000 sq ft). Concentrate on 2-3 square foot sections where you see most of the activity or believe where the nest is. If you are able to see the openings/holes in the ground where the nest is – adjust the nozzle of your sprayer to a pin stream and spray your insecticide mixture directly into the interior of the nest. The combination of spraying around and inside the nest will kill adult wasps and leave behind a residual to kill any hatching wasps. Retreat the nest with the insecticide every 14 days until all immature wasps have been killed.

The best time to treat is late afternoon/early evening when they are less active. Be armed with a can of pyrethrin aerosol, such as PT Wasp Freeze II Aerosol, to spray any wasps that emerge from the nest.

    Q
What do you recommend for dermestid beetles infesting animal mounts?
    A

You could use Suspend SC as a crack and crevice spray in the room where they are present, but we would not recommend spraying them directly. We can tell you that many mount owners do use 565 Plus XLO or Cy-Kick aerosol to get rid of cloth moths and carrion beetles. You should choose 565 Plus XLO for a fast knockdown and CyKick Aerosol ifyou need a long lasting residual. Be sure to hold the can at least 12inches away from the mount and spray in a sweeping motion. You should also test the product you choose in a small inconspicuous area before spraying the entire mount.

Suspend SC is labeled for all three and would do a good job.  You would also benefit from adding an insect growth regulator such as NyGuard IGR.  This prevents the young from maturing into reproducing adults.

    Q
Can Suspend SC be used on boat canvas?
    Will it stain canvas?
    A

Suspend SC should not stain anything that water would not stain if used according to the instructions on the product label.  However, it is not recommended for use around water, as it is highly toxic to fish and other aquatic life.  If you are treating near water, we would suggest using something like EcoVia or Essentria IC3 instead.

Suspend SC should not be applied as a broadcast across carpet or flooring as it is only labeled to be used as an interior crack and crevice spray. When this product is applied according to the product label it is safe for pets and people once it has had time to completely dry.

  • Asked by Yolanda from Pittsburg, Tx
    08/18/2018
    Q
Is Suspend SC safe to use close to a lake with fish?
    A

Suspend SC does have toxicity to aquatic life, so you want to be sure that runoff or drift does not enter where fish are present. We would recommend spraying when rainfall is not expected within at least 24 hours and applying at least 25 ft. from the lake. You might also consider using a product that does not have aquatic toxicity, such as EcoVia EC

    Q
Can Suspend SC be applied unfinished basement ceiling where you see all the wood beams?
Can Suspend SC be applied unfinished basement ceiling where you see all the wood beams? If not, what product can I use for to prevent pests as well as for the termites.
    A
Suspend SC may be applied indoors to baseboards, cracks, and crevices for general pest control. For wood-destroying insects such as termites, carpenter ants, powder post beetles, etc, we would recommend using Bora-Care on your untreated, raw wood. Bora-Care will penetrate up to 4 inches into the wood and last the lifetime of the wood. Please be sure to review the product label for complete application instructions.
