Talstar PL Granular Insecticide is not labeled for gnats. We would recommend Talstar P instead. You will apply at the rate of 1 oz. per gallon of water every 30 days outdoors and every 90 days indoors. You may also want to take a look at our gnat control article for more information.
We would recommend using Talstar PL granules in your lawn. This will kill and prevent centipedes and various other insects. Be sure to water the product in after application. This will last 2-3 months in the soil. Talstar P would be a good choice to use around the inside and outside of your home to eliminate centipedes. Indoors you can apply Talstar P to door frames, window frames, places where utilities enter into the structure, and any other place where the insects can gain entry. Outdoors you should apply the product to door frames, window frames, places where utilities enter into the structure, around the bottom of the foundation and out onto the ground directly around the foundation. You can also limit favorable conditions that the centipedes need to thrive.
The active ingredient in Talstar PL granules is bifenthrin, which is a residual non-selective insecticide. The residual could harm non-target insects like bees if they were to come into contact with enough active ingredient for several weeks after application. However, since this is a granule insecticide that is applied directly to the ground and then activated with water, it is very unlikely any pollinators like bees would actually come into contact with the treated areas. The bigger risk would be from sprays, so we recommend applying sprays in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active, as well as avoiding spraying blooming plants to reduce risk to pollinators.
Talstar Granules such as Tastar PL Granules are labeled for use in interior plantscapes, but not small potted plants. You can use Talstar P liquid concentrate on ornamental potted plants and/or on the surfaces where these plants rest, however you will likely have better success using ant baits around these plants. Be sure that the ants are not attracted to water collecting in pots due to over-watered plants, or to honeydew produced by a sucking pest such as aphids or mealybugs on the plants. You could use a small amount of granules such as Maxforce Complete Granular Bait in and around each pot. You could also use a gel bait on the edges of pots if the ants appear to be attracted to moisture or sweets like honeydew. Maxforce Quantum would be a great choice since it holds moisture well and comes with stations.
Please refer to our Ant Treatment Guide for more tips.
Talstar PL Granules are not labeled to treat for Bagworms. Talstar P liquid would be a better option. Dilute at 1oz per gallon water.
