FOR CONTROL OF SCORPIONS

To ensure optimum control, treat the building perimeter at dusk to prevent outdoor scorpions from entering the building. Scorpions reside hidden in cracks and voids during the day and are active at night at temperatures above 77ºF/25ºC. Resting areas can be identified at night using a blacklight (UV bulb) as scorpions will fluoresce. These areas should also be treated. Talstar PL Granules

    By Manuel on 05/04/2010

    Verified Purchase

I always had problems with ants but could not get rid of them. I was told about Talstar PL from a professional who had great success with the product. I purchased a 25lb bag and spread it as instructed, the next day I went and checked on the ant piles and low and behold the ants were at the top of the mound DEAD. I haven't had any ant piles or ants in my yard for 7 months. I just bought my second bag, I figure with all the rain here in South Louisiana it was time to retreat. GREAT Stuff.

Talstar Granules with Ants & Cinch bugs

    By William on 09/21/2010

A great product to be used in Florida. There is not an ant or cinch bug present in my yard after the treatment. Comparable services from companies like Chem Lawn will cost you up to $120.00 for a product like this. The granules were easy to spread and the smallest package available from this website covered about 1/4 acre lot. I was impressed with product and service.

    Mix with sand before spreading

    By John on 05/11/2013

    Verified Purchase

I have used this product the past four years. I use it every spring before the fire ants get bad. And every fall just before winter to prevent spiders and all the other critters from coming in my home. This product is very fine like sand so a spreader will disperse it very quickly. I find it much easier to apply this product with a push type spreader. Before I put it in the spreader I mix it 50/50 with some dry sand. And then put my spreader on its lowest setting. ( sand must be dry or it will clump. For best results open the bag a few days before you plan to use it and stir the sand around twice a day)

    Talstar

    By Ethan on 05/23/2010

    Verified Purchase

I applied the Talstar PL Granules @ 2-3 weeks ago. The ants appeared to have been killed. I am cautious to say this as I am waiting for the real hot summer weather as this is when they become very active. Never the less I have 50 lbs left over so I can apply when I need it. I hope that the ants have left me as I have a very large infestation in my lower yard. Thank you and I will be contacting you soon when I need more Talstar. I have not had to use the liquid yet.  P.S The ordering and the service from you was fantastic. I received my items @ 3 days from when I ordered. The free freight sure is a big bonus!!!

Q
Will Talstar PL granular insecticide harm my yard snakes I like to keep around?
A

As long as the reptiles are out of the area while you are doing the actual application of the Talstar and until it is watered in and dry, it shouldn't effect them. You will most likely see a reduction in the reptile populations on your property though as you will be eliminating their food source (insects). Take precaution not to apply to areas with pet snakes.

Q
Will Talstar PL Granules work on crane flies? When is the best time to apply?
A

Yes, Talstar PL granules are labeled for crane flies. According to the product label, it should be used early to mid-season to control the larvae of crane flies. This application should be made between August-February during times when the ground is not frozen as they feed on plant crowns. If treatments are made in March-April, they may only provide suppression. Consult your local extensions agent for specific recommendations for your area.

Q
Will Talstar PL granules control/eliminate night crawlers and grubs from my lawn?
A
Talstar PL granules are not labeled for grubs or for night crawlers. We carry three granule products that are labeled for grubs, Dylox 6.2, Merit Granules and Demand G. Dylox 6.2 is known to be one of the fastest acting granule products for grub control. Night crawlers are a type of earthworm and earthworms are highly beneficial creatures and you will not find a product on the market that is labeled to eliminate them.

Q
If I put Talstar PL Granules over mulch, will it give me the same result?
A

If you apply Talstar PL Granules over mulch it can work for pests that crawl over those areas. For a more effective treatment though, we would recommend moving the mulch and applying the granules in that area, that way pests that like moisture and usually hide under mulch like centipedes, millipedes, silverfish, etc. can come in contact with the residual.

Q
Is it okay to mix these two granuals together...Talstar PL and Niban for pest control on yards?

I have an old school tech that refuses to use one or the other pest granuals...he mixes the two together. I am thinking that the Talstar is a repliant and the Niban is more like a bait. Can you help me with this...need to understand the two products.

A
You are absolutely correct. By mixing the 2 products together you are costing yourself money because you are wasting the Niban completely. Using the 2 products together would be the equivalent of someone putting a steak in front of you to eat, but then covering it in bleach prior to you eating it, wouldn't be very inticing would it? Also, the Niban is a bait that although is designed to hold up to some outdoor elements better than other baits, you are still immediately lowering its attractivness as you have to water in the Talstar Granules to activate them. If there is an insect population around that would require a bait be taken back to the colony then the Niban should be used first, let it do its job, then once the population has been taken care of use the Talstar in a follow up treatment to help keep the insects away.

Q
How long does it take for Talstar PL granules to work?

We laid down the product for serious ant problems almost 48 hours ago. We're still seeing them running around outside. Is this normal?

A
Talstar PL granules needs to be watered in to be activated after it has been broadcast across the area, if this has not already been done. Depending on the severity of the ants will depend on how long it takes. It could possibly take 2-3 weeks for full control. The product will last in the soil for 2-3 months.
