Talstar P is gentle on ornamentals, lawns, trees etc if used as directed on establised plants if as directed on product label.
Unfortunately there is not a product on the market that is labeled or recommended for hookworms. While some insecticides like Talstar P (Talstar One) are labeled for turf or lawn infesting insect may work, there has not been enough research to add hookworms to the product labels. We recommend that all animals be moved out of the contaminated area for at least 1 year (during warm spring/summer months, longer during cool winter/fall months) and all feces be removed. Keeping the animals out of the contaminated area for at least 1 year should help control the infestation pattern. It is also important to remove feces from the new latrine area to avoid another infestation. Another option is to remove the contaminated soil and replace if you cannot keep out for 1 year.
A broad-spectrum insecticide such as Talstar P could potentially kill bees if they are sprayed directly or if they contact the treated areas. For this reason, we do not recommend spraying residual insecticides on flowering plants, and we recommend spraying in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active. There is a product called Mavrik Perimeter which is non-toxic and non-repellent to honey bees once dry. Another option would be to use a repellent such as Mosquito Barrier which is only a repellent once dry.
There are typically no issues mixing different kinds of sprays together, such as an insecticide and fertilizer or fertilizer with herbicide. We always recommend doing a small jar test for compatability when mixing any products together for the first time, unless the product labels expressly address the tank mix you are using.
There are two things I would caution you against with these mixtures. One is if you are using herbicides for your turfgrass and wanting to use an insecticide for mosquito control at the same time. For mosquito control, you want to use a product like Talstar P on ornamental shrubs, tree branches, etc.; however, you should not spray post-emergent herbicides like Drive, Tenacity, or Trimec on these areas since those herbicides would damage your ornamental plants.
We would also be careful about mixing more than 2 herbicides at one time since this could cause extra stress on your turfgrass.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
A mask is not required to apply Talstar P if you are applying in a well-venitlated area. If you are applying in a small, confined space with poor ventilation, you can use something like the N95 Valved Respirator Mask. Please be advised that we are only able to ship within the U.S. at this time.
It is usually recommended to clean a sprayer by triple rinsing with clean water. You can also use a tank cleaner.
Talstar P does not provide an instant knockdown of pests, rather, pests pick up the residual active ingredient by contact. It works by disrupting an insect's nervous system, causing a weakened state followed by death.
Talstar P is safe to use around chickens and livestock as long as the animals aren’t grazing in the treated areas. After the application, you need to wait until the area is completely dry before letting the animals back onto the treated areas.
In most cases, Talstar P can be mixed with a herbicide as long as the mixing instructions on both product labels are followed. It is recommended to do a small jar test first to be sure that the products are compatible.
No, Talstar P Professional Insecticide is not harmful to pregnant women, pets, or kids if used as directed on the product label. We would suggest staying out of the treated area until the application has fully dried.
We would suggest treating the potted plant with Talstar P for ant control. Mix rate would be 0.5 to 1.0 fl oz per gallon of water. You can treat the soil and foliage of the plant.
Talstar P should not be applied to hogs or horses. It is safe to use around livestock as long as the animals aren’t grazing in the treated areas. After the application, you need to wait until the area is completely dry before letting the animals back onto the non-grazing treated areas.
Yes, you can use Talstar PL Granules in conjuntion with Talstar P liquid.
Talstar P will not discolor or damage vinyl siding. You can try it on a small area first to make sure if you want to, but we have never had a customer tell us they had an issue with it.
Diazinon was outlawed over 10 years ago, and it is too bad because it was a great product. Unfortunately, the over the counter products do not even come close to the effectiveness of Diazinon. However, our professional products do! We sell the same professional products used by professional companies that cannot be sold over the counter. Our most popular product is Talstar P. It is a general use insecticide which can be applied inside and outside, is odorless, is labeled for over 80 different insects, and can last up to 90 days in between treatments. Please take a moment and read some of our over 50 customer reviews about how well Talstar worked for them.
