    Q
Can I use Talstar P as an indoor broadcast spray for fleas?
I didn't read into it very carefully and broadcast sprayed my entire house for fleas..oops. now what do I do? Although everything from fleas to flies are dead.
    A

You should not repeat the treatment you have already made indoors using Talstar P. You can use Talstar P for flea control outdoors at a rate of 1 oz per 1000 sq ft around turf and ornamentals. Indoors, you can use a steamer or carpet cleaner to break down some of the residual application. At least 14 days after that application, we recommend retreating with a product for indoor flea treatment such as PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol. Be sure to vacuum well before spraying and then every day or every other day after. Please refer to our online Flea Treatment Guide for more tips on eradicating this pest.

    Q
Can I use Talstar P for Fleas?
My mother in laws cat recently had fleas and now my "m.i.l" wants to treat the whole house for fleas.
    A
Talstar p should not be used for indoor flea control because it is restricted to cracks and crevices indoors. Ultracide would be a much better choice for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on.  The vacuum will also stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum or exposed to the Ultraicde application.  After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Ultracide and continue with the vacuuming. You should use a product that is registered to use on your pets for fleas such as Frontline or Advantage. Talstar P can be used effectively outdoors for places where your pets may frequent and also moist shady areas where fleas are likely to develop. Treating outdoors will help prevent your pets from re-infesting your home.

    Q
Does Talstar kill fleas, bedbugs, and cockroach eggs?
    A
Talstar P is labeled for fleas, bedbugs, and roaches. However, Talstar P will not kill roach eggs and should only be used outdoors for fleas, NOT indoor flea control. Fleas, bedbugs, and roaches are all hard to control insects and we would recommend a targeted treatment plan to ensure complete erradication. Q
What is the best product for fleas infestation on dry lawn, dirt perimeter of house?
What is the best flea fighter for outdoor use on dry lawn, dirt surrounding the house? Also, please advise a product for indoor use on carpet and bare floor.
    A
The best products for flea control outdoors would be Talstar P mixed with NyGuard IGR. The Talstar is the insecticide that will kill the fleas and leave a residual, and the NyGuard is the birth control that will halt the infestation from growing. Mix these in your sprayer together with water and spray any areas outdoors where you are having a problem with fleas or any other insect. For indoor control, you would use Ultracide which is a flea aerosol. It comes ready to use and has both the adulticide and igr (birth control) to provide you with the same type of control indoors as you have outdoors. You will need to go through and vacuum all flooring and furniture prior to using the product. Once vacuumed, use the Ultracide to spray down all carpets, hardwoods, baseboards, rugs, pet bedding and furniture to eliminate the fleas. After application you will leave the home until the product has had time to dry which normally takes about an hour or so. Once dry, all pets, children and adults can re-enter the home and resume normal activity. You will need to vacuum daily for 14 days and then do a second application of the Ultracide. You can see more tips for treating in our article How To Get Rid Of Fleas Indoors.

    Q
How do you apply Talstar P for flea problem in house? The fleas are in the carpet.
    A
Talstar P cannot be used as a broadcast spray indoors, so it would not be a good choice for indoor flea control. We recommend you use Ultracide for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. A critical part of the diet of the larva is dried blood, present there as fecal material from the fleas that are on the pets. Wherever the pets spend time they will shed the fecal matter and the eggs, so it is extremely important that you focus on these potential hot spots where the pets sleep. A vacuum also will remove a small percentage of larvae, but the larva is pretty tenacious, and will wrap around the carpet fibers down there at the base of the pile, and hold on for dear life as the vacuum passes by. The pupa is even tougher to physically remove, for it uses fibers as part of its "cocoon". But, the vacuum will stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum. Even if they are not removed by the vacuum, at least they now are exposed and susceptible to your treatment.   After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Ultracide and continue with the vacuuming.

    Q
Will Talstar One work in the garage to kill both adult fleas and eggs?
Our cat used to sleep in the garage. I noticed he was scratching frequently so I applied a spot on flea treatment. All the fleas jumped off him and infested our garage. Every time we come in from the garage we track them into the house. The cat now lives in an outdoor house and we've bombed the garage twice to no avail. Will Talstar One work in the garage to kill both adult fleas and eggs? If not, what should we use?
    A
Talstar would not be tbe best choice for fleas.  Talstar is a great product for almost any other insect and can be used indoors and outdoors safely.  However, for treatment of fleas the talstar does not have an IGR (insect growth regulator) which is important for the treatment of fleas.  We suggest one of our best selling products for fleas called Ultracide.  It is a product made only for the treatment of fleas and has both an adulticide and an IGR for the treatment of maturing fleas.  It should work great in your garage.  You should treat every 14 days until the problem is gone.

    Q
    Is Talstar an IGR?
i just ordered this product from you, havent used it yet (planned on tonight) but our work has a regular pest control company come in monthly and he just came in here today so i asked him if he knew much about the product. he said that if it's an IGR is should work ok, or if any of the ingredients had 'prene' in it (ex: hydroprene, neoprene, etc). i looked on the bottle that i just received and it doesnt state that it is, or isnt. can you help me with this? i cant find it on the internet either. we are having horrible flea problems and i was so hoping that Talstar would do the truck but according to him it will only work with the IGR, or whatever it is. Please respond as soon as you can. like i stated, we had planned on spraying tonight. thank you!
    A
Talstar P is an insecticide only, it is not an IGR nor does it contain an IGR. Talstar is not really a great choice for indoor flea control because it can not be broadcast sprayed over floors where the fleas tend to harbor. For indoor control you can use Ultracide comes ready to use, no mixing or equipment is needed and it contains both an insecticide for a quick knock down of biting adults and an insect growth regulator (IGR) for control of developing flea eggs and larvae. Infested areas should be thoroughly vacuumed prior to product applications to help remove as much flea eggs, larvae and debris as possible and also to help stimulate larvae to change stages and come into contact with the product. You should continue to vacuum at least every other day for the next two weeks.

    Q
Can you spray Talstar P on the couch? It appears that our dog brought ticks into the house and we are finding them in one room around a couch.
I realize now that I need to spray an IGR (just ordered Archer) and have read that it is okay to spray the IGR on the couch. If I mix the Archer IGR with the Talstar P, can that still be sprayed on the couch, or just an IGR mixture?
    A

Talstar P CANNOT be applied to anything that you will come into prolonged skin contact with, so you cannot apply it to furniture.  It should be applied to cracks and crevices and perimeter of the rooms only.  For treating sensitive areas like your furniture, you should use Steri-Fab which is labeled for ticks and fleas as well as many other pests and can be applied to furniture, mattresses, pet beds, and all other sensitive areas. Below is a great article on treating indoors and the products that we would recommend for treatment inside the home for fleas and/or ticks.
