    Q
    Can i apply Talstar P on furniture/couches?
I have a flea problem and i have some living in my couches. Is it safe to spray down the couch or other furniture that has cloth?
    A
You cannot spray furniture with Talstar. Talstar P cannot be used as a broadcast spray indoors and would not be a good choice for indoor flea control. We recommend you use Ultracide for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. A critical part of the diet of the larva is dried blood, present there as fecal material from the fleas that are on the pets. Wherever the pets spend time, they will shed the fecal matter and the eggs, so it is extremely important that you focus on these potential hot spots where the pets sleep. A vacuum also will remove a small percentage of larvae, but the larva is pretty tenacious, and will wrap around the carpet fibers down there at the base of the pile, and hold on for dear life as the vacuum passes by. The pupa is even tougher to physically remove, for it uses fibers as part of its "cocoon". The vacuum will stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum. Even if they are not removed by the vacuum, at least they now are exposed and susceptible to your treatment.   After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Ultracide and continue with the vacuuming. You should use a product that is registered to use on your pets for fleas such as Prefurred or Advantage. Talstar P can be used effectively outdoors for places where your pets may frequent and also moist shady areas. Treating outdoors will help prevent your pets from re-infesting your home.

    Q
I purchased Talstar P for house with fleas, and it did not get rid of them.
I sprayed my rental property with Talstar P for fleas, and it did nothing to get rid of them. I sprayed inside and outside the house. I purchased this product because it was rated as very good for fleas, roaches, and other types of pests. Any suggestions? At this time, the house is empty. My tenant moved out 1st of September, and before I can offer it for rent again, I have to get rid of the fleas.
    A
You should first note that Talstar P should not be used indoors for flea control because it is not labeled for broadcast applications indoors. For indoor use we usually recommend a product such as Ultracide. Ultracide contains an insecticide to knockdown the jumping, biting adults and an insect growth regulator to stop the growth pattern and sexual development of the immature flea larva.

    Q
Does Talstar P kill chiggers, fleas and ticks? (Mainly chiggers)
I have sprayed my lawn (1/2 acre) with Talstar and still get chigger bite's when I walk out in my yard. I just order more Talstar from you guys just wondering if I should be applying something else instead.
    A

Talstar P is labeled for chiggers, fleas and ticks outdoors at 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge.

    Q
How much Talstar P should I put in a 50 gal sprayer?
I'v got fleas at my house so I bought a rig for my Big Yard.
    A
When treating your yard for fleas with Talstar P you can use anywhere between 0.5 ounces and 1 oz per gallon of water. So anywhere between 25 and 50 ounces to your 50 gallon sprayer. Keep in mind when treating for fleas, its important to use an IGR (insect birth control) to help stop the reproductive cycle. If you only use a portion of the yard closest to the home you could just mix the IGR with the Talstar and spray them both in those areas that you frequent the most or the pets frequent. We would recommend NyGuard IGR to mix in your tank.

    Q
Is there a product that would kill a wide range of pests? Specifically, a lawn treatment.
I want to treat for fleas, ticks, Mosquitos, ants & other bitey-stingy-itchy bugs.
    A
Talstar P is labeled for use on lawns and is labeled for all of the pests you mentioned and many others. Talstar is odorless, dries clear, is gentle on plants and can be used indoors and outdoors for insect control. Be sure to read the Talstar P product label for complete usage instructions for the types of pests you are trying to control as the concentration and application placement will vary.

Can I use Talstar on carpet, mattress, furniture indoors
Have a 12week old kitten treating for fleas. Still feel the need to treat a couple of areas. Don't want to bomb. Can I spray carpet
    A
Talstar P (Talstar One) is listed indoor for cracks and crevices only. To treat carpets and furniture, we recommend using Alpine Flea Insecticide. Alpine Flea Insecticide Aerosol with IGR is the newest flea control product from the Alpine line of products.  Alpine products are made from dinotefuran which was granted a reduced risk status from the EPA.

    Q
Can I use talstar p on rugs for fleas?
I already bought it from you then I saw a Q and A and you guys stated you don't want us to use it because it's a crack and crevice treatment. No good on rugs? Well i already bought it and the directions say it works for fleas. What do think? Can I mix it with precor?
    A

You can mix Talstar P with Precor IGR for flea control. According to the new Talstar P product label you can make applications as spot or crack and crevice treatments to areas frequented by pets, such as under bedding, rugs, next to furniture. Vacuum prior to treatment.

What this means is that you cannot broadcast spray your entire carpet with Talstar, you must limit the treatment to "spot" treatments (areas that 2ft x 2ft or less). If you only need to spot treat certain areas you can use Talstar for fleas. If you need to broadcast over entire carpeted rooms you should choose a product which is labeled for indoor broadcast sprays such as Onslaught or Permethrin SFR.
