    Q
How do I get rid of red and black bugs?
We have a few raintrees in our backyard. The past few years, we have had a huge infestation of red and black bugs. They seem to attach themselves to the seeds that come off the trees. We live in Florida. I have been told they are boxelder bugs or red shouldered bugs but I can't tell. Do you sell anything that will kill this type of bug?
    A

If you are indeed dealing with boxelder bugs, and what you have described does sound like boxelder bugs, then a product called Talstar P will do a great job for you. Talstar P can be sprayed directly on the plant foliage and it can be used on and in the house. We do recommend that you look up a few pictures of boxelder bugs online just to be sure they match the insect that you have spotted at your home.

    Q
    Earwig Infestation
I have hundreds of earwigs that crawl on the exterior of my home - foundation and siding all the way to the eaves of my house. We get 5 to 10 inside a day. I need a powerful granule to kill them in the ground and something to prevent them from crawling on the side of the house. I have a .5 acres of land and have done everything I can do to keep the area around my house cleaned up. I have caulked the obvious cracks and put up weather stripping.
    A
First, do you have mulch or pinstraw around your home? If so, pull that off your house.  Talstar P would be a great choice for earwigs. You can spray both indoors and outdoors with this product. Talstar P, one of our best sellers, has a long residual, is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and wont break down easily with rainfall. Also, be sure to focus on mulched areas, or areas that hold moisture in the lawn.

    Q
How do I mix Talstar in a mister for mosquito control?
I am wanting to treat a one acre lawn for mosquitoes. I dont see the application rate for a mister it shows .33 to 1 ounce per gallon per 1,000 square feet. that would be over 43.5 gallon for one acre...i would need to refill about 12.5 times..that seems to be a lot of material for one acre from a backpack mister/blower.
    A
The application usage rate that you noted in your question is correct for mosquito control. Most folks do not treat the entire acre but instead choose to treat in the areas where the mosquitoes will actually make contact with a treated area. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or where you are trying to provide relief.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out during the heat of the day.  Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

    Q
Will Talstar P completely kill off and prevent bed bugs from returning?
We have found some dead bed bugs after spraying our entire house. Will it completely kill off bed bugs and prevent them from returning? Or is there a possibility that the bugs may still be in the house?
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) will only kill those bugs that contact a treated area and states on the product label it should not be used alone for effective eliminate of bed bugs.  This residual can last up to 90 days inside along baseboard, cracks and crevices, etc.  It will not prevent a reinfestation.  Typically, one product will not do the job.  That's why we offer our Bed Bug Kits which have multiple products that are used in different areas in the bedroom and that do different things.  The kit is exactly the products that a professional company would use and charge you hundreds of dollars to apply.  All of our kits come with full instructions on where to apply each product.  We make it easy as possible for you to treat your own bed bug problem, and our kits have a very high success rate when used correctly.

We also have a helpful prevention guide here.

    Q
What is the ratio for 4E diazinon for ants, bugs etc? Of course I lost the pamphlet
I also have a dog, any danger?? A large Lab..
    A
Residential uses of diazinon were outlawed in the U.S. in 2004. We were able to find product labels by searching for "diazinon 4E specimen label", but we would still recommend contacting the manufacturer for advice on product  usage and safety. We have several products for general pest control that are readily available and are safe to use around humans and pets. Talstar P is one of our best sellers and is also one of safest products for use around the house and is very effective for over 75 different insects .

    Q
What is the best way to eliminate cicada killers?
They are taking over my lawn year after year. Help! They bury in the ground all night and fly around the yard all day. Not good for my son or my dog. They can't go outside during the day, there are too many of these things flying around. Time to eliminate them......
    A
Cicada Killers are actually benificial insects and will not harm you, your son or your dog. They are not aggressive insects just ominous looking because of their size, and you would literally have to take one and force it on your skin to get it to bite you. If you are wanting to eliminate them, the best way to treat is to use a dust in each hole in the yard. This may seem extremely time consuming and tedious but it is truly the most effective and thorough treatment method. Dusting the holes with something like Tempo 1% Dust will allow it to flow through the nest better than a liquid. You could also use the Talstar P or the liquid version of Tempo-Tempo SC Ultra-since it has a quicker knock down to control the surface areas they could land to help control new ones that enter the area. Dust the holes and treat plant/lawn surfaces with Tempo every 30 days through the season. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Can I reuse a container used for weed killer (not grass) with Talstar?
I have a have empty bottle of weed eater from home depot, but I like it because it sprays with electronic trigger. With a good rinse, could I use 1oz talstar/gallon water mix for indoor outdoor and lawn?...if I did already what should be my next plan of action?
    A
You can use the jug but you must rinse it several times and spray water through the hose and nozzle several times to make sure all of the residuals are gone. For most Talstar P general pest control applications you will use 1 fl oz of Talstar P per gallon water. Please refer to the Talstar P product label for complete usage instructions.

    Q
How much Talstar P should I put in a 50 gal sprayer?
I'v got fleas at my house so I bought a rig for my Big Yard.
    A
When treating your yard for fleas with Talstar P you can use anywhere between 0.5 ounces and 1 oz per gallon of water. So anywhere between 25 and 50 ounces to your 50 gallon sprayer. Keep in mind when treating for fleas, its important to use an IGR (insect birth control) to help stop the reproductive cycle. If you only use a portion of the yard closest to the home you could just mix the IGR with the Talstar and spray them both in those areas that you frequent the most or the pets frequent. We would recommend NyGuard IGR to mix in your tank.

    Q
Is Talstar P corrosive to stainless steel or galvanized metal?
Considering using on feed and drinker suspensions in turkey houses. The flies excrement causes much stress on pulleys winches and the cable itself, causing very expensive and labor intensive breakdowns.
    A

Talstar P Professional Insecticide is a water-based chemical and will not cause corrosion to stainless steel or galvanized metal. Keep in mind that you should not apply this product directly to food, feed, water, or sources for food or water. You also cannot apply this in a way that would contact the animals or their food or water. Keep in mind that a good fly control program includes the use of multiple control measures such as baits and traps, in addition to insecticides.

    Q
What's the mixing ratio of Talstar P when using a lawn sprayer that's connected to a garden hose?
I know it's 1 oz per gallon in a pump sprayer.
    A

The rate for Talstar P in a hose end sprayer would be the same as if you were using in a pump sprayer, 0.5 to 1 fl oz (1 - 2 tbsp) per gallon of water for low volume applications, or 0.5 -1.0 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet in a higher volume of water.
