Talstar P Professional Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Talstar P is a recommended product for mosquito control. You will need to spray more than just the outside of your home though. You will need to spray the underside of the leaves on trees and bushes nearby as that is where the mosquitoes spend the heat of the day. We have also had good reviews from people who sprayed a 2 foot band around the perimeter of their property.

For treating lawns, bushes, trees, shrubs and for exterior periemter foundation applications, a handpump sprayer, backpack sprayer or mist blower is recommended to apply Talstar P Professional Insecticide. 

Per the product label, a hose end sprayer or watering can is only recommended if treating wood piles and stored lumber to deliver a coarse drenching spray. Treated wood can be burned as firewood or used for lumber one month after treatment. 

You want to dilute 1fl oz Talstar P into one gallon of water. One gallon of mixed solution will treat approx. 1,000 square feet.

Talstar P is labeled to be used in poultry houses and chicken pens so it should not harm your chickens or their eggs. You must make sure your chickens are out of the area while you apply Talstar P and then they can return to the area as soon as it is dry. Termidor or Talstar P cannot be used in the manner you have described and neither are labeled for use on. Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a ground barrier around the trees.  Most people are primarily concerned with protecting the big investment, their home, and Termidor would be the product to use for that.  It is only labeled to be used adjacent to the structure though.  Please take a moment to read over our article on "How to do a Termite Treatment" for complete details.
