    Q
    Is Talstar P really working?
I purchased the Talstar P product and mixed it by instruction/video provided. Although, I spray the product directly on a plant infested by aphids and they just laugh at me and continue on their business. Am I missing something?
    A
Talstar does not offer an instant knockdown but it does offer a long term residual. Talstar can take several hours to kill insects when used as directed on the product label.

    Q
Lizards under vinyl siding on home, what can we do keep them out of there?
We have a modular home and the lizards crawl between the siding slats on the house.
    A
We can't sale anything to kill lizards. We can recommend to treat the bugs they are preying on. Talstar P will kill the insects they are preying on and thus the lizards should go elsewhere for food.

    Q
    Will Talstar kill wood/carpenter bees?
We have carpenter bees that are becoming very destructive to our house, basically the fir wood.
    A
Yes. Talstar is labeled for and will help eliminate bees. To use Talstar P for carpenter bee control you should mix 1 oz of Talstar per 1 gallon of water and spray the areas where you have noticed activity such as the eaves, fascia boards, mouldings, overhangs, or siding. You should reapply the Talstar P once a month through the warm season for best results. Please note that Talstar P will not offer an instant knockdown of insects, it will take several minutes to a few hours for them to die after they come into contact with treated areas. We also recommend dusting the carpenter bee holes with a dust such as Tempo Dust to help kill any larva inside. Do not plug the holes for at least 30 days after dusting to prevent the developing larva from drilling a new whole to exit.

    Q
Can birds die from eating insects that have died from Talstar P?
We have found dead birds in our yard within a week or two after using Talstar P. Well after the Talstar application was dry, there were still insects outside that were dead or dying.
    A
No, Talstar P would not harm birds eating the dead insects. Talstar P is a very safe product when used as directed on the product label. In fact, Talstar P is even labeled to be used in poultry houses where birds come in direct contact with the product.

    Q
Can Talstar P be used to treat soil in preparation for vegetable garden?
The soil that I have is infested with fire ants and I am putting it in a raised garden. How long do I have to wait until I can plant my vegetables?
    A

Talstar P is not labeled to be used around anything edible. It can stay in the soil for up to 5-7 years so any treated soil would not be able to be used.  For treating fire ant mounds in a garden you could use Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer which is labeled for use on selected agricultural crops and food bearing plants.

  • Asked by Monique from El Paso Tx

    Q
When can you clean the floors after the inside of your house has been sprayed with Talstar?
With that question: does cleaning the floor remove any residue left after it's dry? And if the floor gets wet where the spray was dry is it bad for young children and pets?
    A

Talstar is meant to be applied to cracks and crevices not as a broadcast to floors. If you do mop an area that Talstar has been applied, then you could potentially take the product up and Talstar would need to be re applied.

    Q
Could you suggest a good outdoor bug (including ants) spray to go all around my house in East Central Florida?
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

    Q
I need a product for indoors and outdoors, safe for pets in the house, kill roaches, spiders, beetles & ants?
Is there one product that will work for indoors and outdoors. Is safe for pets (once product is dry) and will kill spiders, roaches, beetles, "pincher bugs" and ants.
    A
You could use a product like Talstar P as this is a very safe product to use, will dry clear and has no odor, and will cover all the insects you mention and many more. It can be used indoors around baseboards and cracks and crevices and outdoors on pretty much any surface with the exception of edible vegetation. Spray the Talstar 2 feet up around the foundation of the home and 2-3 feet out on the ground and around all entry points like window and door frames, and around pipes that enter the home. Once the product has dried you, your children and pets can re-enter the area with normal activity.

    Q
How do you apply Talstar P for flea problem in house? The fleas are in the carpet.
    A
Talstar P cannot be used as a broadcast spray indoors, so it would not be a good choice for indoor flea control. We recommend you use Ultracide for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. A critical part of the diet of the larva is dried blood, present there as fecal material from the fleas that are on the pets. Wherever the pets spend time they will shed the fecal matter and the eggs, so it is extremely important that you focus on these potential hot spots where the pets sleep. A vacuum also will remove a small percentage of larvae, but the larva is pretty tenacious, and will wrap around the carpet fibers down there at the base of the pile, and hold on for dear life as the vacuum passes by. The pupa is even tougher to physically remove, for it uses fibers as part of its "cocoon". But, the vacuum will stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum. Even if they are not removed by the vacuum, at least they now are exposed and susceptible to your treatment.   After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Ultracide and continue with the vacuuming.

    Q
Can I spray Talstar directly onto the foliage of flowering plants for Japanese beetles?
    A

Yes, Talstar P Professional Insecticide can be applied to any bushes, shrubs, trees, landscaped areas as well as flowering plants. However, you should minimize the spray on the actual flowering plants as you do not want it to expose the product to any bees that help with pollination. It is recommended that you spray when pollinators are not active, either in the early morning or late evening.
