Conserve SC is a great product for treating caterpillars since it is a targeted application and is very gentle on the plants and on other non-target insects and animals. If you are going to do a follow up treatment using Talstar, then I would wait at least 1-2 weeks so that you are not wasting the Conserve application since you don’t need both products at the same time.
A product like Talstar P can be used to control midges (another term for blind mosquitoes) outdoors. You can spray window screens, doors, bushes, and plants around the home to help keep midges away. An aerosol pyrethrin spray such as 565 Plus or Microcare can be used to control midges inside the home.
The most popular product for sod webworms is Talstar. Talstar is very effective on most insects including chinch bugs and it is gentle to plants. Time applications to control young larvae, if possible. Spot treatments may be applied when infestations are first detected and the damaged area is small. The treatment will be most effective if applied in the early evening when larvae begin feeding. Please check with your local cooperative extension office to see if a second generation is possible in one season in your region.
If the application of Talstar P Professional Insecticide had time to dry before the sprinklers went off, it should be ok. If you applied at the highest rate of 1 fl oz per gallon of water, you will need to wait 30 days before reapplying or 7 days if applied at the lower 0.5 fl oz per gallon rate was used.
The product label advises to apply when there is no rain or watering for atleast 24 hours after the application.
Talstar P is not labeled for use to control root aphids or for use in a vegetable garden. Pyganic Gardening or Azera Gardening can be used in and around vegetable gardens for aphids and a wide variety of other insects. Keep in mind that this is a persistant pest often brought into an area by infested plants or soils, so be sure that you are checking transpants and using clean soils in your garden.
