    Q
What product will safely kill caterpillars inside the home, as well as other common household pests all in 1?
I live in NC and we've had a lot of rain lately; not sure if that has anything to do with it, but more and more I have noticed caterpillars crawling across my carpet in various parts of the house. In addition, which product would be best to kill these caterpillars and other pests outside the home and in the lawn?
    A
Talstar P is our most popular general pest control product. Talstar P is labeled for caterpillars and is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall.

    Q
Can I spray Talstar P on the ground around my fruit trees and still eat some fruit later?
    A

Although Talstar P is not a systemic insecticide, we would not recommend spraying on fruit trees or around the root systems of fruit or other trees from which you plan to eat the vegetation. We do carry many products that are labeled for use on or around fruit trees, depending on what type of tree you are treating and for what pest. We are happy to make a recommendation with more information about your specific situation. You may reach our Customer Service staff at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST.

    Q
What is the best systemic insecticide to use for bagworms on my leyland cypress?
My trees are still growing and already too high to pick off the bags and get to the top with my hose end sprayer; I'm looking into a systemic insecticide to treat them
    A
We cannot find any systemic insecticides that are labeled for bagworm control. Acephate 75 was labeled for bagworm control but due to new EPA regulations they were forced to change the label and exclude using the product as a systemic. You should also note that systemic products are not the best choice if you already have damaging pests present because the products can take weeks or even months to translocate through large trees from soil applications. The best treatment for bagworms is a direct foliar spray with Talstar

    Q
Looking for something to kill spiders, roaches, ants, etc?
Need something to spray the outside perimeter of a building. Also need something safe to spray in an area where there are children (church nursery).
    A

Talstar P is a great general purpose insecticide that is labeled for over 75 types of insects that can be used indoors and outdoors. Talstar P has a long residual, so it keeps on killing pests for over three months after you've sprayed it. Plus, Talstar P is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall.

Talstar P leaves a 30 day residual outside and a 90 day residual inside. Mix 1oz of Talstar P per gallon of water in a hand pump sprayer for best application.

Inside the building, apply as a coarse, low pressure, crack and crevice or spot spray to areas where pests hide, such as baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, attics and eaves, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas.

Outside the home or building, general application for crawling pests - Mix 0.5 or 1 oz. of Talstar P in one gallon of water and apply to the outside foundation of the building, approx. 3 feet up the side of the house and 2 feet out from the building. Also spray entry points into the home such as around windows, pipes, doorways, etc. For general preventative treatment, apply Talstar P once every 3 months.

    Q
Using Talstar to get rid of ants in Kitchen
I can't get rid of ants in the kitchen by the sink. They are tiny fast moving, but I keep spraying Talstar there and behind the oven. I don't know where they are coming from. Everything else has been fine. Can you tell me what to do?
    A
Talstar is great for 99% of bugs that might enter your home, but ants are especially difficult to get rid of.  This is because an ant colony can reproduce new ants almost faster than you can kill them.  Talstar will only kill the ants it touches.  The key though to ant removal is eliminating the nest.  Most of the time you have no idea where the nest is.  So, you have to use a product that will not kill the ants right away so they will take it back to the colony and spread it around, eliminating the source.  This is where ant baits come in.  Ant baits are a food source that the ants in your kitchen will eat and take back to the colony.  It will not kill them right away.  This is the only true way to eliminate your ant problem is to kill them at the source.  If you do not kill the colony, you will continue to battle them all summer.  One important note is you need to stop spraying the Talstar until you get some ant bait, and do not spray until after your ants are gone.  If you continue to spray the Talstar, the ants will die before they get back to the colony with the bait.  Our most popular ant elimination product is our complete ant kit.  It comes with an ant granular bait to apply outside around the house, and a gel bait to apply in your kitchen.  It has a very high success rate and is our most popular ant kit.

    Q
Can I use Talstar P where my chickens are walking around and eating?
i have chickens and they are free roaming, i know you can spray in poultry areas but if i spray Talstar p about 10 feet out from my home and my chickens are pecking around that same area and or eating the bugs that have been treated, will it harm my chickens or will it harm the eggs i receive from them?
    A
Talstar P is labeled to be used in poultry houses and chicken pens so it should not harm your chickens or their eggs. You must make sure your chickens are out of the area while you apply Talstar P and then they can return to the area as soon as it is dry. You should dilute 1 ounce of Talstar P per gallon of water and using a hand pump sprayer apply the solution on all door frames, window frames, areas where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure, a band of soil 6 to 10 feet adjacent to the structure, also to a height of 2 to 3 feet on the foundation where pests may be active or may find entrance.

    Q
Can I kill the stinkbugs without killing the chickens?
My chickens have taken care of all my insects for the past ten years. I have had stinkbugs for the third year now. help.
    A
We would recommend Talstar P for your use. Talstar P is labeled to be used in poultry houses and chicken pens so it should not harm your chickens. As the stink bugs crawl over the treated area, they will receive a lethal does of the insecticide and usually die within a few hours. You should treat every month starting in August and ending in November for best results.

    Q
Can Talstar get tracked into the home?
This product leaves a dry residual (which obviously then sticks to & kills bugs) and is also recommended for spraying around doorframes. Thus the dry residue will get stepped on when people come & go through the door, and so it seems at least some product will definitely get tracked into the house. This seems to be a possible health concern, as it will then get further tracked onto rugs/furniture/etc, where it is NOT supposed to be applied. Is this reasoning correct?
    A
No. Talstar does not get stuck to bugs as you described. Talstar will bind to the surface on which it has been sprayed and insects must be on treated areas for a certain length of time to receive a lethal dose. That is why the Talstar P label recommends that you spray the product directly into areas where insects harbor and travel and that broad areas are treated around the home.
