    Q
We're just starting this process. Is there a generic product for inside use?
We have silver fish and a few small ants towards the end of the previous treatment cycle and want to also control for termites.
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.

    Q
What is a good general indoor and yard granual pest control?
Currently I have purchased and use Demon WP for outdoor application around the house but I also want to find a good general indoor pest control and a general outdoor granule for use as backyard grass application so my kids don't get bit up. We don't have any pest issues now but I just canceled my yearly pest control to do it my self as it was getting pricy to pay every 3 months. Can you suggest anything. Thank you

    Q
Which insecticide is the most effective for camel crickets specifically?
Hi, I see that your website offers an array of insecticides. I am targeting camelback crickets specifically (anything else that dies is a plus). How would you rank the insecticides (I plan on doing an indoor and outdoor spray) Demon WP, Bifen IT, and Tempo SC)? Not that price is an issue, but if I am going to to the exterior as well, it wouldn't hurt if the price isn't too hard on the wallet. Thanks in advance.
    A
With Talstar P the crickets just need to cross over treated areas to get a lethal dose of the insecticide. With the Niban FG they need to be attracted to and then consume the bait. Both products work great and both will do a great job it just breaks down to what is needed for your particular space. Is it okay to apply an insecticide? Can you get to the areas that need to be treated? If so an insecticide like Talstar will work very well.

    Q
What is a general recommendation for a program/steps to minimize/eliminate spiders, ants and insects in a home?
My wife and I purchased a renovated home in June 2014. Typical two story colonial with a basement and crawlspace just Northeast of Philadelphia. We've seen a few ants and spiders as we've moved into the Fall season. Is there a DIY suggested program to apply to the house to protect it from insects and to eliminate those that may be starting to come inside?
    A
Using Talstar P would be a great option for outdoor perimeter and indoor control. Talstar P is labeled for over 75 types of insects and will leave a 90 day residual inside the home and 30 day residual outside the home.  In a hand pump sprayer, mix .33-1 fl oz of Talstar with 1 gallon of water. Spray 2-3ft up the foundation and 2-3ft out from the foundation focusing on entry points to the home (window frames, window sills, door entries, cracks in foundation, etc) . Inside the home, spray Talstar as a crack and crevice treament along baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, attics and eaves, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas.

    Q
What do I use to eliminate ants and small (1/16 in) hard shelled black bugs.
I live in zip code 54646 in sandy soil. Some ants are beginning to gather under my wooden jealousy windows, on the vinyl sill. I can't identify the type of ant, I just want to get rid of them. I also find the hard shelled bugs in different places of my house. What product can I use to get rid of these ants and hard shelled bugs?
    A
It is very hard to make an accurate recommendation if we are not sure what we are treating. Talstar P will treat for ants and other types of insects like the ones you are describing. You want to spray the perimeter of your home 2-3 up the side and 2-3 feet out. On the inside make applications to cracks, crevices and entry points. Your Local Cooperative Extension Office may be able to shed light on what type of pest you are dealing with.

    Q
Can Talstar get tracked into the home?
This product leaves a dry residual (which obviously then sticks to & kills bugs) and is also recommended for spraying around doorframes. Thus the dry residue will get stepped on when people come & go through the door, and so it seems at least some product will definitely get tracked into the house. This seems to be a possible health concern, as it will then get further tracked onto rugs/furniture/etc, where it is NOT supposed to be applied. Is this reasoning correct?
    A
No. Talstar does not get stuck to bugs as you described. Talstar will bind to the surface on which it has been sprayed and insects must be on treated areas for a certain length of time to receive a lethal dose. That is why the Talstar P label recommends that you spray the product directly into areas where insects harbor and travel and that broad areas are treated around the home.
