    Q
Is Bifenthrin (Talstar) or a different product better suited for rodent/bird mites?
After a month of getting mysterious bites on our bodies, we found mites in the bathroom. Not a huge infestation but 8-10 here and there. An entomologist identified the mite as most likely rodent/bird mites. We have yet to find the source of the mites as no nests or burrows have been found by us or an exterminator. He suggested using bifenthrin and diatomaceous earth to control the problem. I have yet to use bifenthrin. I sealed up the cracks and gaps in the bathroom as best I could and laid down diatomaceous earth around the toilet. I saw fewer mites after this but they continue to appear especially on the toilet. Should I go ahead and try bifenthrin or is there another product better suited for this siutation?
    A

Talstar P is not labeled for nor recommended for bird mites. Onslaught Insecticide would be a better option and is labeled for mites in general.

    Q
How exactly does Talstar P work?
Do bugs eat it this product after it dries up or they walk over it and die?
    A

Talstar P is a liquid concentrate insectide which contains bifenthrin, a synthetic pyrethroid. Pyrethroids works by disrupting an insect's nervous system causing a weakend state followed by death. Talstar P does not provide an instant knockdown of pests, rather, pests pick up the residual active ingredient by contact, Talstar P is a repellent insecticide since it acts quickly enough that social insects such as ants cannot create a pheromone trail. This mean that Talstar P will be most effective as a barrier with a thorough application. Talstar P residual last up to 3 months.

    Pest Control-Products Outside of House
I want to put some pest control outside around the house, in the brick crevices etc... An exterminator company came to the house last week offering a sale of $120 every 2 months to preventative control, for spiders, mice, whatever other bugs are outside. I just built my house which is outside of town in a subdivision, but across the street we have open, fields etc... I have purchased from this website before, and I figured I would give it a shot at doing it myself before paying those rates. What product would you recommend?

I have to repeat use of Talstar after a week.
A week later was necessary to reapply Talstar. A week Later 1 oz per gallon again because there where mosquitoes in backyard. Arround Wednesday mosquitoes again. Last Monday I used 2 oz per gallon. Not happy with the product.

We apologize that you feel you are not having success with the Talstar. The Talstar is one of our best products for mosquito control. You must keep in mind that the Talstar is not a contact kill, it is a residual and will take time to control the mosquitoes. It will take several months of spraying once every 30 days only (not every week) to control a population. The product will not put a bubble around your home and stop mosquitoes from flying over from your neighbors yard so if your neighbors are not treating it makes control in your yard harder. When using insecticides to control insects, you are trying to make the yard tolerable but you will never get rid of every last pest for good. If you give the Talstar time to do its job we are certain you will be satisfied like all of our other customers who have used it. If you would like to go over target areas and more tips for controlling mosquioes you can call us at 866-581-7378.

    Help, with outside pest control?
I just bought 2 acres of heavily wooded property and where we live fleas, flies, ticks, snakes, mosquitoes and spiders are a problem basically everything crawly its the woods what can or should I spray outside to make sure my children don't get "eat up" by anything and everything the pest listed are some of mine main concerns
    A
For the insect control we would recommend Talstar P. Talstar P is a Multi-Insecticide with bifenthrin is one of the most trusted and widely-used insecticides by pest control professionals today. The name Talstar P/Talstar One means one professional solution for everything: Talstar insecticide kills over 75 insect pests and can be used for indoor pest control, outdoor pest control, food handling areas, turf and ornamental treatments, in the yard as a yard spray to treat fleas or other yard pests, and even for termite control! Talstar has a long residual, so it keeps on killing pests for over three months after you've sprayed it. Plus, Talstar One is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall. For snake control we recommend using Snake away which is a repellent. Make sure though that you leave one side of the treated area open so that any snakes can leave the area you are treating.

    Q
Is Talstar P good for earwigs and roaches?
We bought a house that was empty for awhile and I find roaches and earwigs all the time. We live in GA and I have tried everything to get rid of them. I need something that will work in the house and won't harm children or pets. I also need something that will work outside. I need something that will work on all kinds of pests because we live in the country and like I said I can't get rid of them. We also have a bad problem with carpenter bees. Thank you
    A
Talstar P is a broad spectrum insecticide that works well on most types of insects that invade structures including roaches and earwigs. Roach infestations will usually require you to use additional products to get the infestation under control. You will need to use a roach bait gel such as MaxForce FC Roach Bait Gel. According to the product label, you should place small dots of bait every 10-12 inches directly in cracks and crevices on and under counter tops, in cabinets, cupboards, drawers and food pantries, around dishwashers, refrigerators, sinks, pipes and baseboards.  This will help get rid of the roaches that inhabit places where you cannot apply sprays. We also recommend that you use an insect growth regulator indoors such as Gentrol IGR. You can mix Gentrol in the same gallon of water that you mix the Talstar P in for indoor use. Gentrol will help stop the juvenile roaches from coming into sexual maturity which will help break the breeding cycle while you are trying to rid your home of this pest. Outdoors Talstar P by itself should be sufficient for all of the pests that you mentioned.

    Q
Is there a Talstar granule product that can be used for termite treatments?
I like using granular applications. Is Talstar P the only one for termites?
    A
Talstar Granules are not labeled for termites and would most likely not penetrate deeply enough in the soil to treat for termites. The only other granule product that can be used for termites is the Premise Granule but these granules are only for spot treating an active infestation and they do not offer any long lasting residual control. Currently non-repellent insecticides such as Termidor SC and Dominion 2L are the preferred products for termite treatments. Non-repellent insecticides cannot be avoided by termites because they cannot tell that it is there. The exposed termites then remain unaffected for a few days, before sudden death occurs. In the meantime, the exposed termites are able to spread the non-repellent chemical to unexposed termites by physical contact when they feed or groom the other termites, resulting in a domino death effect which wipes out more of the colony.

    Q
Does Talstar P control fire ants?
When we have rain here in SC, the fire ant mounds seem to pop up everywhere. Can I put this in my atv sprayer to kill these ants, and if so, how long does it last?
    A
Yes, Talstar P can be used for fire ant control in the type of sprayer you described, but you will also need to do mound drenching. According to the Talstar P product label, "Fire Ant Mound control is optimized by combining broadcast applications that will control foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens with mound drenches that will control existing colonies. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application or use a high volume application. Apply broadcast treatments at 0.5 to 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet. Use enough finished volume to penetrate thatch or sod. Treat mounds by applying 1 oz of Talstar P per mound in 1 to 2 gallons water by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat 3 feet out around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12”. Treat mounds with sufficient force to break their apex and allow the insecticide solution to flow into the ant tunnels. For best results, apply in cool weather (65 - 80˚F) or in early morning or late evening hours."

    Q
Is Talstar P safe to use around pets such as dogs and puppies?
Will it kill off scorpions inside the house? Is there a better product for scorpions that is safe for indoor pets?
    A

Yes. Talstar P can be safely used around pets as long as you follow the label instructions; all pets need to be out of the area while application is being made and they can return as soon as the application is dry. Talstar P will kill scorpions indoors and outdoors, but our most popular scorpion products are Demon WP and Cy-Kick CS. Both of these products will stay up on the surface of whatever material you are spraying, making the insecticide more available for the scorpion to come in contact with it. All of the insecticides on our site are safe to use around pets (unless otherwise noted) as long as you follow the product label.
