    Q
Is Talstar P effective against cycade scale on a sago palm?
Will it kill the existing insects which infested the palm and will it prevent future infestations?
    A

Talstar P is an insecticide that will eradicate listed insects. It will not treat scale. We would recommend applying Safari for the treatment of scale. Please refer to the product label for mixing and application instructions by clicking on the link below.

    Q
Is 4 oz of Talstar P Professional Insecticide to 4 gallons of water a good mix rate for outdoor fleas?
    A

The label advised not to exceed one ounce per one gallon of water. Talstar P is long lasting and generally does not need to be applied more than once every few months. It should not be reapplied more than once every 7 days. After your first application if you are still seeing a heavy infestation you can reapply another application.
Please refer to product label for correct instructions. If your mixing rate is not per label instructions it may become ineffective.

    Q
Can I mix this with CyperWP for outside use around the house
Will mixing bifenthrin with the cypermethrin degrade eithers efficiency or activity?
    A
These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix Cyper WP and Talstar P together.  Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and Cyper WP already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

    Q
When using a mist blower, how far into a treeline should we treat for mosquitos?
Our back yard (1/4 acre) is surrounded by dense woods with substantial underbrush on three sides and we're wondering how far into the woods we'd need to blow a misting pesticide like Telstar P into the cover to provide defense against biting black flies and mosquitos. Of course, this would be done in conjunction to the spraying of shrubs and patio areas in the main part of the yard. Additionally, where we don't spend nearly as much time in the front yard (1/4 acre, open to a street) as the back, is it worth spraying the shrubs and trees in that area as vigorously as the backyard?
    A
There is no definite "coverage area" for mosquitoes because they are flying insects. However, keep in mind that the better the coverage, the better the results. For best results we would recommend treating as far back into the woods as possible and also ask neighbors about the possibility of treating their property. The larger the treated zone the more impact on the mosquito population. You want to treat all bushes, shrubs, and low lying tree branches and be sure to get the undersides of the leaves which is where those pesky mosquitoes like to hide during the day.

    Q
Need help getting rid of biting flies, horseflies and other smaller biting flies by my swimming pool
the flies are constantly buzzing around your head and biting when you are in the pool and on the one side of my yard primarily
    A
Horseflies and many other species of biting flies tend to develop on the edge of bodies of water and since they are strong fliers these breeding areas can be near or far which makes finding the source next to impossible. You can apply a product such as Talstar P around the pool area and flies that land on the treated areas will be eliminated. Using Talstar will give some relief but since these flies can fly over treated areas it can be tough to get complete control. Relief should be on the way soon however as horsefly season is usually on 3-6 weeks long.

    Q
What is the best and longest lasting mosquito product?
I live in Southwest Louisiana and we have had a lot of rain lately thus a bad outbreak of the little bloodsuckers. I need a product that is not going to disappear after the first rainfall?
    A

Talstar is our most popular selling product for mosquito control.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using any hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer.  The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio you are trying to provide relief at.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out.  It should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.  Best of all it will not harm any birds in the area.

    Q
What product can I use in my crankout windows to kill and repel wasps from building their nests?
90% of the windows in our house are used for nesting. When I open the windows (even with screens) grass and other debris come falling in.
    A
Talstar P would be a great option to kill and repel wasps from building their nest around window frames. Simply mix 1 oz of Talstar with 1 gllon of water and spray on the exterior of window frames.

    Q
After mixing, how long can Talstar be stored?
Mixing directions is for 1 gallon -- did not use it all up. How long can I store it mixed in a sprayer?
    A
Like any other concentrate product of this sort, Talstar P needs to be used with 24-48 hours after mixing. After that point the product will start to not only break down and be less effective, but will eat at your sprayer parts as well. If you do not think you will need the full 1 gallon of solution for the area you are treating, you can cut the dilution in half and mix up only half a gallon at a time.

    Q
How can I control biting gnats in my yard?
I purchased Riptide and Talstar. I am hoping that these will help control them a little bit so that I can feel comfortable out in my back yard. Thanks for your help
    A
You purchased the exact products that we would have recommended. Spray Talstar P and Riptide on trees, shrubs and bushes paying special attention to the underside of the leaves. You can also spray your lawn to help control the low flying gnats that tend to land there. Talstar P will give a long lasting residual while the Riptide will give you a fast knockdown. You can use both products in the same area to get both a fast knock down and a long lasting residual. It is best to treat in the early morning or the late evening when these pests are most active.
