    Q
How effective is Talstar P on exterminating box elder bugs?
My mother in law has a horrible problem with box elder bugs in her home and outside of her home. There is no box elder trees on her property or around it. Will this be a good choice to exterminate these pesky bugs?
    A

Talstar P is a excellent option for boxelder bugs. Be sure to spray around the perimeter of the home, around windows, doors, etc. where the bugs could get indoors. You should treat in late Summer and Fall once a month until the first frost. This product can also be used indoors around the perimeter of your home. The mixing ratio is 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

    Q
Which is better fogging or spraying for insects?
    A

Well, fogging works great as a knockdown when treating for flying insects. You can then apply a residual like Talstar mixed with Archer in a sprayer to keep killing.

    Q
What should I use inside my home for general pest control?
    A

Our most popular general pest control product is called Talstar P. It is safe for indoor use around baseboards, cracks and crevices as well as for outdoor applications. It has minimum mild odor that dissipates by the time it's dry which can take up to two hours. Once the area treated is completely dry it is safe for everyone to go back including children and pets. It is a liquid concentrate and you can mix it at a rate of 1 oz per gallon of water for your first application and follow up at a rate of 0.5 oz per gallon of water. Indoors it can last up to 90 days and 30 days outdoors.

Can Talstar be sprayed around baseboards in carpeted rooms?
Can Talstar be sprayed around baseboards in carpeted rooms? If so, is it recommended to do so as part of my indoor periodic pest control?
    A
Talstar can be sprayed along baseboards in carpeted rooms. It is not meant to be applied as a broadcast over carpets, more crack and crevices. Baseboards are fine, as it will dry clear.

    Q
Difference between Talstar P and Dominion 2L?
What is the difference between this product and Dominion 2L? How long does it take to kill an insect that comes in contact with this?
    A

Talstar P is a great general use insecticide that can be used both inside and outside for over 75 different pests.  It only kills the insects that contact a treated surface. Dominion 2L is a non repellent termiticide that can also be used a systemic insecticide for the listed pests.  Dominion will help to eliminate more than just want contacts a treated surface or treated soil, social insects will crawl over the product without detecting it, and spread it to each other by touch and food sharing, eventually eliminating the entire infestation.

How long it takes the insects to die after they come into contact with a treated area will depend on a number of factors. It will depend on the maturity of the insect and type of insect as well as how long they stayed on the treated area, how long it has been since the area was treated and the concentration that was used to treat the area. Typically it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day or so for them to die

  • Asked by Heather from Union, Mo

    Q
When using Talstar with an IGR, why do the roaches become deformed but don't die?
We have asked several chemical companies this question and no one can give us an answer. We use Talstar Pro mixed with Nyguard on our roach job accounts. Why is it that the roaches will become deformed from the IGR but will not die from the Talstar when the chemicals are used together? It puzzles us.
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) is not an instant kill for roaches so it will take time to eliminate them with the product and an IGR. The roaches also have to come in contact with the area that is treated with Talstar P. If you are not seeing success with this product and have been using it for a while, we would recommend using a product with a different active ingredient, such as Demand CS. We would also recommend adding a roach bait gel to your treatment program, if you are not already using one. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more information and tips.

  • Asked by Jaymarie from Nashville, Tn

    Q
Can Talstar P be used to control bagworms?
What is the best mix ratio and method for controlling bagworms? Can Talstar be applied with a hose-end sprayer?
    A

Talstar P is the #1 recommended product for bagworm control.  You will need to use 1 oz. of Talstar per gallon of water.  Applications should start in April and continue monthly through June. Be sure foliage is sprayed thoroughly to the point of runoff to achieve adequate coverage.  Talstar can be applied with a hose end sprayer, but it is best to use a hand pump sprayer if possible to ensure the most even coverage.

  • Asked by Luis from El Paso
    06/08/2016
    Q
Can I mix Talstar P with another insecticide like Suspend SC in one tank?
    A

There is no valid reason to mix Suspend SC and Talstar P together.  Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and Suspend SC already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

  • Asked by Kevin from Smithtown, Ny

    Q
What time of day is most effective to spray Talstar P outside to kill mosquitos?
    I'm using a Stihl AR200 back
    A

We recommend applying Talstar anytime of the day EXCEPT during the middle of the day.  The key with mosquitoes is to apply to the underside of the leaves as that is where the adults lay during the day.

    Q
Can you tank mix Talstar with an herbicide?
    A

You can mix Talstar P with an herbicide as long as there are no restrictions on the label for the other product that you are using. We recommend performing a small jar test for compatibility any time you are using two new products together for the first time. Be mindful that you are only applying your herbicide in the correct areas.

  • Asked by Frederick

    Q
What is the difference between Phantom and Talstar P?
    A

Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect and is especially useful for insects that are social or extra sensitive like ants, roaches or bedbugs. Talstar P on the other hand will have a faster knockdown rate and is a bit more versatile as it can be used in more areas and for a wider variety of insects. When trying to decide which insecticide to use you need to know: 1. What are you trying to eliminate? 2. What areas need to be treated? After you answer those questions, read the product labels to make sure the pest and the treatment area are both listed. If you still need help deciding you can call us at 866-581-7378.

    Q
Is it safe to eat herbs that were sprayed with Talstar One?
It was not sprayed directly on but I saw spray go through the air onto this area. Should we not eat the herbs now? Would it be best to cover the herbs with plastic for future sprayings?
    A
No, the herbs should not be eaten. Talstar is not labeled to spray on edible vegetation and the effects of eating food products contaminated by the insecticide are not known. We would definitely recommend covering the herbs in the future to prevent contamination.
