Talstar P Professional Insecticide - Questions & Answers

There would be no need to mix the two together as it will not make your spray any stronger, and the labels do not permit being mixed with other insecticides. Both products are synthetic pyrethroids and could possibly take away from the effectiveness of each other. If you were to mix anything together to increase your control over mosquitoes, it would be the use of a birth control like NyGuard IGR. This keeps the population from being able to breed and reproduce which cuts back the problem drastically.

Talstar P does not provide an instant knockdown. Talstar P will kill wooly adelgids and other insects within 20 to 30 minutes to a few hours after application

The Talstar stays active after it dries so it does not need to get wet to effectively control the insects. Indoors it will last up to 90 days and outdoors it can typically hold up to the outdoor elements for 30 days at least.

Yes, you can use Talstar with a Hose end sprayer. You can pour the Talstar directly into the hose end sprayer tank and set the dial setting.

Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

Since Talstar is mixed using 1 ounce per gallon water, you would add 100 ounces or 3 quarts into 100 gallons water.

Talstar P is not labeld for use on or around any edible vegetation including vegetable gardens and fruit and nut trees. You would need to stay at least 10 feet away from the drip line and roots of the tree or use a different product. Yes, Talstar P (Talstar One) is labeled for bagworms. Treatments can be made to control early to mid-season larvae (August-February) as they feed on plant crowns. Treatments made in late-season (approximately March-April) may only provide suppression. You will use .125-.25 fl. oz per gallon of water. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

We recommend to use Talstar as an adulticide and Nyguard IGR Mixed in to break down reproductive cycle. Mix 1 oz Talstar 8Ml Nyguard into 1 gallon water. Apply indoors cracks and crevices and then outdoors perimeters. Please also see our Tick Control page.

The active ingredient Bifenthrin is labeled to help control Noseeums. You would want to treat the perimeter of the pool with Talstar P focusing on the bushes, trees, shrubs and ground cover surrounding the pool. Incorporating an Insect Growth Regulator such as Archer IGR will help break down the population because it keeps the insects from being able to reproduce. A great contact kill to use is Microcare Aerosol Spray to use around the entry points to the pool house (doors, eaves, joint areas against screen)

 

According to the Talstar P product label, you will need to use 1 oz of Talster per gallon of water and then apply at the rate of 4 gallons of dilution per 10 linear feet of trench. You will need to calculate how many linear feet you have around the structure you wish to treat to find out how much Talstar you will need to purchase. Talstar P mixed with an Insect Growth regulator such as Nyguard IGR would be a good choice for tick control. Talstar P would work to kill ticks that come into contact with treated surfaces while the Nyguard would work to help stop juvenile ticks from reaching sexual maturity. We recommend using  the highest usage rate of 1 oz Talstar  and 1 oz of Nyguard IGR per gallon of water.

There is no particular time that you have to spray. Most people spray outside in early in the morning or when there is the least amount of insect activity. You will mix 1 oz of Talstar P with 1 gallon of water. That will treat 1,000 sq feet. 

Talstar P can be applied on the ground when there is a small amount of dew. Allow to fully dry prior to rain fall, 24 hrs.

For roach control using Talstar P, we would recommend using the higher rate of 1 oz. of Talstar P per gallon of water. Keep in mind that you should not rely on a spray like Talstar P as the only product you are using to eliminate a roach infestation. Yes, Talstar P does a great job controlling Japanese Beetles. You will mix 1 oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Talstar P should be applied every 30 days. 

Talstar P (Talstar One) is an insecticide and will not affect snakes or toads.

Talstar P can be used to kill carpenter ants that are sprayed directly or which contact the residual spray. However, Talstar P will not transfer throughout an ant colony to kill the entire colony. If you are finding carpenter ants trailing indoors, then we recommend our Indoor Carpenter Ant Kit, which includes two different baits, refillable bait stations, and a residual spray with two active ingredients. If the ants are in a wall void and you are unable to bait for them, then another great option is applying a ready-to-use non-repellent foam such as FUSE Foam into the wall void where the nest is. Our Complete Ant Kit is perfect for sugar ants, or argentine ants which is what their real name is.  The ants will eat the products in the Complete Ant Kit and take them back to wherever their colony is and feed the bait to the queen and all of the other colony members.  Usually within 5 - 10 days the entire colony will be eliminated.  The ant gel is for placement inside the home or car, and the granules are meant for outside around the home.  However, since our kit comes with bait plate stations, you can place both the gel and the granules in the bait plate stations so the ants inside the car have a choice when feeding.
