    Q
Will Talstar help with the flies and ladybugs that are around in the spring and fall?
    A
Talstar would be a great choice for flies and ladybugs. Be sure to spray in areas where the insects are known to land or harbor. If you are trying to prevent these insects from over wintering in your home you should spray Talstar P outdoors around your door frames, window frames, vents, eaves, around the bottom of your foundation, and any other crack or crevice where an insect could gain entry once a month August-November.

What would help with control/death of indoor aphids? It's an epidemic.
    A
Talstar is one of our most popular products for aphids as well as any other insect.  It is our most popular product and widely used by professional companies both outside and inside homes.  You can apply Talstar to any plant, shrub, bush, or turf grass, as well as inside and outside perimeters, as long as you are not applying it to anything edible.

    Q
What should I use for home maintainence to protect from roach, ant, spiders & general bug problems?
I just fired my pest control company after continued 10 years of service. The cost was skyrocketing and I felt I could do it myself, for less money. I live in Northwestern area of South Carolina (foothills). I am not currently experiencing any problems and want to keep it that way. In the past I have had an occasional roach bug (German, American cockroaches) transit the home (inside) from one side to the other, Also an line of very tiny ants, that may come in from a flower windowbox just outside the kitchen sink. My home is situated on a wooded lot, surrounded by Oak trees. Also, the pest company did occasionally spray around the perimeter of the home for roaches/ants and often applied a granulated bait around the home. The wife is threatening to 'call the pest company' if she see's any roaches. Save me! What products do you recommend?
    A

Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

    Q
Can I use Talstar P as a drench?
I have a 50 ft banyan tree that is about 15ft around that got infested last year and lost all of the leaves. It has grown back over the winter and I don't want to go threw that again. I want prevent it now if I can. Thanks
    A
Talstar P does not work as a systemic insecticide and that seems to be what you are looking for. You should consider using a product that contains Imidacloprid such as the Adonis 2F. Adonis 2F can be used as a soil drench around the tree and the product will be translocated through the tree. You will need to use .2 oz - .4 oz of Adonis 2F per inch of trunk diameter at breast height.

    Q
If I dilute Talstar 7.9, 1oz in a gallon of water, what % of bifenthrin will I now have?
The store brand says 0.3% bifenthrin in a quart hose sprayer bottle.By the time this is diluted with the water from the hose what % am I using? I would like to triple the strength I am getting now with the store product. In other words ,how much 7.9% should go into the quart hose sprayer bottle to give me a .9%solution ?What would the final % be that I would be applying?
    A
If you mix 1 oz of Talstar P per gallon of water you will be using a 0.06% solution. The Talstar P product label says not to use a higher concentration that the 0.06% solution and we do not recommend that you do so. We do not have any information on the store brand product that you used so we are not sure what the dilution usage rate would be on that product. Each hose end sprayer is different  in the way that it is used but if you are following the directions and use 1 oz of product per gallon of water then the end usage rate will be 0.06%.

Based on the fact that you are in Texas and the description you gave, the multi-legged critter with the stingers on the back end sounds like it could be the Texas Red Headed Centipede (they are venomous) but we can't say for sure without seeing a picture of the insect. You can Google Texas red Headed Centipede to do a comparison if you like.

    Q
Can I use Talstar P in my attic?
I have wasps and spiders in my attic getting into my house. Can I spray this in the attic? If so, where can I spray just the rafters or the insulation too? And what do I do about the electrical wires, pipes, and recessed lights in the attic?
    A
You can use Talstar P in your attic in all of the cracks and crevices for insect control. If you have a lot of exposed electrical elements you may want to consider using a dust insecticide instead of the Talstar P in your attic. Dusts like Evergreen dust and Tempo dust will last a lot longer than liquid insecticides and they can be used around the electrical elements you described without worry of shock or shorting out the device.

    Q
    Will Talstar P kill bedbugs?
    A

Talstar p is labeled for bedbugs but according to the product label it should not be the only product that you use for bedbug control. Most folks purchase and use our bedbug kits for bedbug control as they come with all of the products that will be needed. You can see our bedbug kits by following this link: BEDBUG KITS

    Q
Does Talstar P work on bed bugs? And if so, how often should one apply your product?
    A
Talstar P is labeled for bed bugs, but the Talstar label itself says it should not be used as the only product to get rid of a bed bug problem.  Typically, one product will not do the job.  That's why we offer our Bed Bug Kits, which have multiple products that are used in different areas in the bedroom and that do different things.  The kit is exactly the products that a professional company would use and charge you hundreds of dollars to apply.  All of our kits come with full instructions on where to apply each product.  We make it easy as possible for you to treat your own bed bug problem, and our kits have a very high success rate when used correctly.

Is Talstar P safe to spray on vinyl siding?
I intend to use it for roach control outdoors. The directions say to spray up a ways from the ground, but I don't want to discolor or damage the vinyl siding.
    A

Talstar P will not discolor or damage vinyl siding. You can try it on a small area first to make sure if you want to, but we have never had a customer tell us they had an issue with it.

    Q
I live in Ocala, Fl, and I need Diazinon (or better).
I just moved to Ocala, Florida from up north in Maryland. The ants and termites are everywhere, and they are getting in the house. I had used Diazinon years ago (in Maryland) to control pests. It was GREAT. What is equal too or better than it, that can be purchased at a local Lowes or Home Depot?
    A

Diazinon was outlawed over 10 years ago, and it is too bad because it was a great product.  Unfortunately, the over the counter products do not even come close to the effectiveness of Diazinon.  However, our professional products do!  We sell the same professional products used by professional companies that cannot be sold over the counter.  Our most popular product is Talstar P.  It is a general use insecticide which can be applied inside and outside, is odorless, is labeled for over 80 different insects, and can last up to 90 days in between treatments.  Please take a moment and read some of our over 50 customer reviews about how well Talstar worked for them.

    Q
What is the safest way to get rid or minimize the amount of tiny files in my home?
I have an indoor plant that requires diffused sun exposure. I transferred it to a bigger pot, and it has gotten these tiny flies. They are black and about the size of sesame seeds. I have no food exposed near that plant, but the number of flies have increased significantly. I don't know how to get rid of them or at least control the amount to a minimum. I have an indoor cat, and i wish to solve this the safest way possible.
    A
The flies normally associated with potted plants will be fungus gnats, living in the soil and whose larvae feed on bits of molds and fungi they can find in damp soils. The easiest control for them is to allow the soil to dry out completely between the times you are watering them, which may actually be the best thing for the plants anyhow. The second option would be to cover the soil in these pots with some material that prevents the flies from getting to or from the soil, such as a thick layer of spagnum moss or some screening. The third option would be to use an insecticide such Talstar P. Talstar P is a concentrated liquid insecticide that is diluted with water and then poured onto the soil and sprayed onto the plant itself. We recommend starting with letting the soil dry out between watering as this offers the fastest control in most cases.

    Q
How close can you use this product to fruit trees and how long must you wait to eat fruit if using on trees?
I have a problem with Sri Lanka Weevils on my Lemon Meyer tree. I was reading through the Q&A and the same questions kept getting asked about spraying on fruits and vegetables. Well, my tree doesn't have fruit, due to the invasive weevils. So here are my questions. I was wondering how long I have to wait after spraying my tree down to eat from it? If I spray it before I get fruit and then my tree blooms a month later will that fruit be safe? Will it effect other trees nearby and is it in anyway systemic? How far would you suggest spraying Talstar P from my vegetable gardens? Is it safe to do a perimeter spray of my veggie gardens as long as I don't spray the plants? Will Talstar P kill grubs and is it safe to spray on a lawn with fruit trees nearby?
    A
Since Talstar is not labeled to spray on fruit trees or any other edible vegetation we really cannot offer advice on using the product for this type of application. We do have many products from Fertilome and Hi-Yield on our site that are specifically labeled for the use you have outlined. Talstar is not a systemic and it can be used outside of the dripline for your plants and trees.  Talstar is not labeled for grubs because it binds down to the soil and cannot move far enough below the surface to effect the eggs or grubs. We do have Merit Granules that can be used for grubs in your lawn.

    Q
For large yard, should I have a blower to apply Talstar P?
I have a large yard, over 15000 square feet, surrounded by large trees/woods. I would need to treat ground cover, bushes/shrubs, and also the perimeter of the property going into the woods and up into the trees several feet. Is the solo mister/blower or the Stihl mister/blower the best way or is a hand sprayer adequate or preferred?
    A
A hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer would be the preferred method of application. For that large of an area a backpack sprayer would be the best method.  We carry all types and we even have one that is battery powered that is very popular and makes it very easy to apply the product.

    Q
My leylands are infested with bagworms. I bought Talstar and sprayed in late June early July.
It spit rain about 4 hrs after spraying and then poured about 2 days after. Should I retreat or wait a month or so?
    A
Talstar P only needs an hour or two to dry, and once it is dry it does not matter if it rains 2 hours later or 2 weeks later, it should hold up the same once dry.  So our answer is, you do not need to re-treat just yet.  However, it would not, or should not anyways, hurt the tree if you wanted to apply a second application now that is not mixed as strong for good measure.
