Talstar P Professional Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Talstar P is a very safe product when used as directed on the product label. In fact, Talstar P is even labeled to be used in poultry houses where birds come in direct contact with the product.

Talstar can only be applied to your yard mixed with water first. Using it the manor you described is against label usage, and you risk not only damaging your lawn by applying it directly to the yard, but also watering it in aftewards would be the equivalent of having a rain storm and it would wash the product away. You need to mix it at the proper dilution ratios for the tank size you have and spray it across the property when you know no rain is expected for at least 6-8 hours after the product has dried. You could use a product like Talstar P as this is a very safe product to use, will dry clear and has no odor, and will cover all the insects you mention and many more. It can be used indoors around baseboards and cracks and crevices and outdoors on pretty much any surface with the exception of edible vegetation. Spray the Talstar 2 feet up around the foundation of the home and 2-3 feet out on the ground and around all entry points like window and door frames, and around pipes that enter the home. Once the product has dried you, your children and pets can re-enter the area with normal activity.

Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

We apologize but we are not aware of any product can be mixed with the Talstar in a propane fogger as Talstar is not labeled to be used in any type of fogging equipment.

Talstar cannot be used directly on vegetables or fruits that are going to be consumed. We do carry several products that can be used on edible vegetation such as Sevin and Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor 10%. Always read the product label of the product you select to make sure it is labeled for the plant you want to spray and for the pest you are trying to eliminate. As long as the Talstar treated area had time to dry, rain will not remove it. You will however want to retreat 30 days after application.

There are certain plants of trees such as the Japanese red maple which we would caution you before applying any product. If in doubt on treating a certain plant you should treat one plant only or one small area of the plant with the Talstar before treating the whole plant. Wait at least three days to see the results before continuing.

Talstar P is labeled to be reapplied after 7 days on outside surfaces but does have a 30 day residual.

When treating around patio doors you will want to spray all around the frame of the door itself and where the doors slide past each other, as well as along the track the doors slide on. You would not need to spray the glass to get an effective treatment.

Talstar P is not labeled to treat any edible vegetation. We would recommend that you use Monterey Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic Soil Drench because it is labeled to for the fruit trees. Please click on the product label link for additional information.

Talstar P should be mixed at 1 fluid ounce per gallon of water for stinkbug control.

Talstar P is an insecticide that will eradicate listed insects. It will not treat scale. We would recommend applying Safari for the treatment of scale. Please refer to the product label for mixing and application instructions by clicking on the link below.

We would recommend the Mosquito control kit. Talstar will hold up in rain after it has dried. Please be sure like any other insecticide to make your application when it is not raining. Talstar is safe to apply to non-edible plant life. Please be aware that this product is harmful to aquatic life and watch for run-off areas. The Bti Dunks will work great in large bodies of standing water, as it is a larvacide.

Talstar P will kill mud daubers that come into contact with treated areas for a sufficient amount of time to receive a lethal dose. You will need to dilute 1 fl oz of Talstar P per gallon of water and broadcast spray over the areas where you have noticed activity. Most folks notice only very limited results from broadcast sprays of insecticides for cicada killers because they don't land and walk around for a long enough time before entering their underground burrow. For a more direct treatment, you can use Delta dust in each individual burrow. You may also want to consider our Wasp and Hornet Control Products.

Any of the insect growth regulators (IGRs) can be mixed with Talstar P and will offer great control. Talstar P can be applied to indoor cracks and crevices offering a 90 day control and outdoors for 30 days. Talstar P (Talstar One) can be applied anytime of day, depeding on what pest you are treating for. You want to mix 1 oz Talstar P (Talstar One) into one gallon of water.

Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like there are a few things going on here. First, please see our squirrel control page.  If you know where the squirrels are entering you can use a Squirrel trap. Also, try and seal up any entry points using copper mesh. This will help with the mice as well. Second, please see our Mice control page. You can use the  Rodent Kit to bait and kill the mice. You would place the tamper resistant bait stations around the outside perimeter of your home. Lastly, we would recommend using Talstar P for your insect control indoors and out.
