I've been using this product for a couple of years with great results. But now that my wife is pregnant, I want to know if it's safe to continue using while she is pregnant. And once our child is born, will it be safe to use then? Thanks in advance.

Talstar is safe for people and pets to re enter the treated area after it has dried. They should not be in the area when the product is being applied.

    Q
I live in CA and I have roaches, earwigs and some spiders.
I'm looking for a good all around spray to use on the outside of the house and perimeter of the yard. I do have dogs that can be put indoors for a short time to do the spray and let it dry. Also, I have small kids with lots of toys and swing in yard.
    A
We would recommend that you treat in and out of your home with Talstar. It can be applied along the baseboards inside once every three months and outside monthly. You will mix 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. It is labeled to treat roaches, earwigs, spiders and many more. It is safe for children and pets when dry. We do not recommend spraying the outdoor toys and swings that the children play with.

    Q
Trying to get rid of several kinds of spiders, some quite large, in a studio warehouse type commercial bldg.
We have used Home Defense from Home Depot and other products purchased at the hardware store, but they don't work very well...maybe not at all.
    A
Talstar P would be great choice to spray outside and inside the building for the treatment of spiders (all species) and over 75 other insects. It is to be applied indoor cracks and crevices every three months and outside monthly. We would also sugges placing glue boards at entry points and areas with high activity.

    Q
Which product will kill all pests
Roaches, spider's, ant's, cock roaches, bees
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

    Q
Should I mix my Talstar with the Gentrol I bought for German roach infestation
I have treated a rental home with Talstar P twice. The second time I used cy-kick on cracks and crevices then follow up with another round of talstar. I still have a significant infestation. I used to do pest control so I know how to apply these product and how to prep. I just purchased some gentrol and max force bait. I would like to know if you recommend another product to mix with the gentrol instead of the talstar.
    A
You could certainly mix Gentol with Talstar or Cy-Kick. You would mix 1oz Talstar with 1 oz Gentrol into one gallon water. Make sure to spray in areas you are not baiting.

    Q
What pest control works for gnats inside and is safe for humans?
    A
To treat gnats indoors we recommend using the Flyweb Fly light and a crack and crevice spray like Talstar. The Flyweb will attract flying insects and then catch them with the attached glueboard. Talstar is to be applied to cracks, crevice, baseboards, entry points. Talstar is safe for people and pets to be around after the treated area has dried.

    Q
Will Talstar kill fleas outside? How quick does it work for an infested area?
My dog keeps getting fleas outside and then carrying in house. The dog has been washed and house bombed with flea bombs but fleas keep returning.
    A
The best products for flea control outdoors would be Talstar P mixed with NyGuard IGR. The Talstar is the insecticide that will kill the fleas and leave a residual, and the NyGuard is the birth control that will halt the infestation from growing. Mix these in your sprayer together with water and spray any areas outdoors where you are having a problem with fleas or any other insect. After your initial application of the two products, you will respray the Talstar by itself every 2 weeks until the infestation has dropped in number, and then back off to spraying only once every 30 days. The NyGuard IGR will typically hold up to the outdoor elements for 4 months but if you have heavy rains or long periods of drought and heat, you may want to reapply again earlier than this with one of your monthly Talstar applications. For indoor control, you would use Ultracide which is a flea aerosol. It comes ready to use and has both the adulticide and igr (birth control) to provide you with the same type of control indoors as you have outdoors. You will need to go through and vacuum all flooring and furniture prior to using the product. Once vacuumed, use the Ultracide to spray down all carpets, hardwoods, baseboards, rugs, pet bedding and furniture to eliminate the fleas. After application you will leave the home until the product has had time to dry which normally takes about an hour or so. Once dry, all pets, children and adults can re-enter the home and resume normal activity. You will need to vacuum daily for 14 days and then do a second application of the Ultracide.

    Q
Hi, Can I use washing up liquid/similar to act as a surfactant for Talstar P for bird mite?
I am in the process of tidying the house and treating room by room. I have found and eliminated what I think are the sources which were vacated house sparrow and starling nests in my eaves. The house dates from 1690's so I guess this would happen sooner or later! I want to treat wooden, carpet and linoleum flooring of various types but would like the surfactant to offer more 'hold' of the chemical. I will look to retreat in 7 days to catch the life cycle.
    A
A surfactant is not usually needed when using Talstar P and is generally only to be used if you are trying to protect a plant with waxy leaves and need the product to stick a bit better.  Talstar P is not actually labeled to treat bird mites and it is only labeled to apply in cracks and crevices indoors.  When treating for bird mites usually you would want to spray all carpeted areas and lightly spray the flooring and to do that you would need a product like Onslaught which will give you a wider usage range indoors. Please review our article on How To Control Bird Mites for complete information.

  • Asked by Phil from Albany, Or

    Q
After mixing, how long can Talstar be stored?
Mixing directions is for 1 gallon -- did not use it all up. How long can I store it mixed in a sprayer?
    A
Like any other concentrate product of this sort, Talstar P needs to be used with 24-48 hours after mixing. After that point the product will start to not only break down and be less effective, but will eat at your sprayer parts as well. If you do not think you will need the full 1 gallon of solution for the area you are treating, you can cut the dilution in half and mix up only half a gallon at a time.

    Q
What product is best to use in a Spider-B-Gone misting system at my lake house?
I want to control spiders and insects at the top of my exterior walls. I have been switching between Riptide 5.0% ULV and Pyranha 1-10 PX
    A
We are not familiar with that misting system. Talstar is a great product to use in a misting sprayer. Riptide and Pyrahna are still top choices for misting systems.
