The breeding sites for these flies are so numerous and varied, it is impossible to eliminate them all. These tiny pests are small enough to crawl through the average window screen and fit through cracks and crevices around windows and door frames.
You can help prevent these flies from entering your home by spraying a barrier application of Talstar P paying special attention to window frames, window screens, door frames, and cracks and crevices that may be used as points of entry. A screen with a very fine mesh (smaller than 16mesh) will help prevent entry. Additionally, it may be helpful to keep ceiling fans and window fans on at high speeds to keep insects out of small areas.
If flies have already entered your home and you need immediate control use Microcare. This product offers a fast knockdown and kill of flying insects, giving you immediate relief.
Talstar P is a great general purpose insecticide that is labeled for over 75 types of insects that can be used indoors and outdoors. Talstar P has a long residual, so it keeps on killing pests for over three months after you've sprayed it. Plus, Talstar P is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall.
Talstar P leaves a 30 day residual outside and a 90 day residual inside. Mix 1oz of Talstar P per gallon of water in a hand pump sprayer for best application.
Inside the building, apply as a coarse, low pressure, crack and crevice or spot spray to areas where pests hide, such as baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, attics and eaves, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas.
Outside the home or building, general application for crawling pests - Mix 0.5 or 1 oz. of Talstar P in one gallon of water and apply to the outside foundation of the building, approx. 3 feet up the side of the house and 2 feet out from the building. Also spray entry points into the home such as around windows, pipes, doorways, etc. For general preventative treatment, apply Talstar P once every 3 months.
Yes, you should discard the edible vegetation that came into contact with any of the Talstar P.
Talstar P (Talstar One) after dilution is only strong enough to kill small insects. Your puppy would have to eat loads of treated grass for Talstar it to harm it. Be sure to keep the puppy out of the treated area until dried.
Neither Talstar or Bifen are labeled for dust mites and would not be recommended as they are very specific to the type of mites they will kill. Please take a moment to read our article here on "Dust Mite Control"
Chiggers are not known to infest structures and are most likely outdoors in your yard. While Talstar or Bifen are labeled for chiggers, Onslaught is typically the more recommended. Onslaught is micro-encapsulated and will last a little longer on outdoor surfaces which does give it a bit of advantage over Talstar P. Onslaught is also labeled for "mites" in general but would not be recommended for dust mites. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.
All of the products are pet safe when used as directed. Pets should be out of the area during treatment until dry.
Talstar P (Talstar One) is labeled to be applied to cracks and crevices indoors. Mopping should not be an issue, as Talstar is not labeled to be applied as a broadcast over the floor. If you were to mop along the edges of the wall where Talstar was applied, it would take it up.
No, Talstar P cannot be applied on animals at all. We do carry topical flea treatment products for dogs.
