    Q
If I thoroughly washed all walls and surfaces following application, is the effectiveness of Talstar reduced?
My apartment was sprayed for cockroaches and I have a 5-year-old child that I didn't want exposed to insecticides. We waited 48 hours before returning after the spraying was done.
    A
Talstar P (Talstar One) is only labeled fro cracks and crevices indoors. If you washed those areas, Talstar P (Talstar One) would be less effective.

  • Asked by Kim from Anderson Sc
    05/28/2014
    Q
How many gallons will you need to pre treat a 2000 sq ft with Talsar P?
    I need pre treat 180 liner feet... 50 + 50+ 40+ 40+ 180 liner feet
    A
Per the Talstar P product label for pre construction you would use 1 oz per gallon of water per 10 square feet, but Talstar is not the best product to use for this.  Termidor SC is the #1 termite product on the market. When used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor SC will protect your home or business for over 10 years. Termidor SC is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony. Termidor SC controls all types of termites including subterranean, formosan, and drywood termites. Talstar P lasts for about 5 years in the ground and works as a repellent, killing only those insects that come into contact with the treated area.

    Q
Will your product get rid of moles?
A friend told me about this product for moles, but I didn't see moles mentioned.
    A
Talstar P is labled to control grubs which will in turn cause moles to go elsewhere because their food source has been eliminated but Talstar P does not kill moles. This type of treatment can take some time to see results so we would recommend that you take a look at our Mole Control Page.

  • Asked by Carmen from United States

    Q
I have to repeat use of Talstar after a week.
A week later was necessary to reapply Talstar. A week Later 1 oz per gallon again because there where mosquitoes in backyard. Arround Wednesday mosquitoes again. Last Monday I used 2 oz per gallon. Not happy with the product.
    A
We apologize that you feel you are not having success with the Talstar. The Talstar is one of our best products for mosquito control. You must keep in mind that the Talstar is not a contact kill, it is a residual and will take time to control the mosquitoes. It will take several months of spraying once every 30 days only (not every week) to control a population. The product will not put a bubble around your home and stop mosquitoes from flying over from your neighbors yard so if your neighbors are not treating it makes control in your yard harder. When using insecticides to control insects, you are trying to make the yard tolerable but you will never get rid of every last pest for good. If you give the Talstar time to do its job we are certain you will be satisfied like all of our other customers who have used it. If you would like to go over target areas and more tips for controlling mosquioes you can call us at 866-581-7378.

    Q
My house has a bird mites infestation. What kind of pesticide or miticide should I use?
I read on a website that Talstar works well. Is this true? I desperately need an answer and would like to place an order as soon as possible. Thank you.
    A
Talstar P is not labeled to treat for bird mites so we cannot recommend it for this use.
Below is our best advice regarding bird mites:
It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites.  Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth Dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

  • Asked by David from Fayetteville Arkansas

    Q
I did a yard spray with talstar p 7 hours before it rained...will the rain have any effect after it was alread
I know it says not to apply if it's going to rain...but he product was dried way before it rained.
    A
Normally as long as an insecticide like Talstar has had at least 6 hours of dry time after it has been applied, then it is considered rain fast to most rain conditions that would come afterwards. If you had a heavy down pour for a few days that started 7 hours after then you may need to reapply at that point. But standard summer rain showers should not break down the residual.

  • Asked by Matt from Springhill, Florida
    06/11/2014
    Q
Can I use Talstar P on the inside and outside of the home with an IGR for flea control?
1 acre and 1/2 of land with also treating the inside of the house. I was looking at Talstar P and was going to add an IGR. Any recommendations?
    A
Talstar P can be applied with an IGR such as Pivot 10 for outdoor flea control. For indoor flea we recommend applying a product such as Alpine Flea Insecticide with IGR because it can be broadcast inside the home and applied to furniture. It is recommended to make at least two applications indoors and outdoors two weeks apart. Each day during the course of the treatment, you will need to vacuum (even the hard surfaces) for the fastest elimination. Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns.

  • Asked by Louise from Houston, Tx
    06/17/2014
    Q
What is considered an "excessive temperature" when storing Talstar P in a dark shed over the summer?
90, 95, 100 degrees? How long can it be stored at these temps before it affects the Talstar? In what way does it affect it? I am assuming it might make it less effective -- if so, how much less effective? On the other end of the scale, if stored in the same shed over the winter and it freezes outside periodically, how does this affect Talstar? Thanks.
    A
When storing any insecticide such as Talstar P, an extreme temperature is anything below 35 degrees and anything over 90 degrees.  Storing above or below these temps for more than a few hours can decrease the effectiveness of the product and cause it to separate as well as the potential for the chemical to break down.  Freezing and unfreezing is biggest concern so products should not be left outside in a shed over the winter.  If any product is only exposed to sub freezing temperatures for a short period of time and the product looks exactly the same as before it was exposed, it should be fine.

    Q
Does Talstar work as effectively for knockdown as Tempo Ultra using a Stihl blower/mister for mosquitos?
    A
Talstar can be used in a mist blower for mosquito control outdoors. It will not be an instant knockdown kill but offers a 30 day exterior residual. It is also one of our most popular mosquito control insecticides. It is mixed at one ounce per gallon of water. Tempo SC Ultra is also a synthetic pyrethroid concentrate that is great for mosquitoes and other listed pests.
