    Q
How can I get rid of ground/miner bees that are in a hard to reach juniper bed?
These bees return every year and seem to number in the thousands. There also seems to be more and more each year. They swarm in the heat of the day and are living along the edge of my yard in a massive Juniper bed. The Junipers are mature and thick, so I can't even see their holes/nests, but when they are active, they are very intimidating and create concern for child safty.
    A

A good treatment of Talstar should help do the trick.  However, if the junipers are really thick, then you need to apply quite a bit for the product to get down to the ground where the bees are nesting.

    Q
Will Talstar work better than Niban FG on my camel crickets?
    A
With Talstar P the crickets just need to cross over treated areas to get a lethal dose of the insecticide. With the Niban FG they need to be attracted to and then consume the bait. Both products work great and both will do a great job it just breaks down to what is needed for your particular space. Is it okay to apply an insecticide? Can you get to the areas that need to be treated? If so an insecticide like Talstar will work very well.

    Q
I want to use Talstar P to spray my lawn.
I want to use it w/ an all purpose sprayer that you attach to a garden hose such as the Gilmour 362. Would this work? I am especially wanting to spray my front and back yard to guard against fleas, ticks, grubs and ants.
    A
Talstar P will work in most hose end sprayers though a few folks have commented that the sprayer they used did get clogged because Talstar is a little bit thick. Talstar P is a great general use insecticide but it is not labeled to control grubs. Most general use insecticides do not control grubs.  For grub control you will need to use a product such as Dominion 2L that contains imidacloprid.

    Q
    Will Talstar P kill snails?
    A
Talstar is not labeled to treat snails. This does not mean that it will not treat them we recommend contacting FMC 800-321-1362 for a more specific answer. We recommend using a granular bair like Niban Fine Granular Bait to eradicate snails.

    Q
Can you use gas powered fogger with this product
    A
Talstar is not designed to be fogged so if you have a thermal/propane fogger you would need a product like Shockwave. If you are using a gas powered mister/blower like our Solo 451, then Talstar would be an excellent option and can be used in this type of unit.

    Q
Can a used garden sprayer be used to apply Talstar P?
I've used my garden sprayer to apply Dominion 2L approximately 8 months ago. Can I use that same garden sprayer to now apply Talstar P or should I buy a new garden sprayer to apply the Talstar P?
    A
You can absolutely use the same sprayer to apply the Talstar in as you did the Dominion. Just make sure to always triple rinse the unit in between each product you use.

    Q
Can Talstar and Dominion 2L be applied at or nearly the same time?
I have infestations of grubs and chinch bugs doing severe damamge to my St Augustine grass. HELP!
    A
The Dominion and Talstar can be applied back to back however we feel an application of Dylox and Talstar would be more appropriate. Dylox works well if you arecurrently seeing turf damage (this usually occurs from July-September depending on the type of grubs you have).  Arena Granules, Merit Granules or Dominion 2L will work well as a preventative if applied prior to egg hatch. You should check with your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to establish the best time to put down a preventative treatment in your region. Either product you chose, you would apply either the Dominon or Dylox first, and then once dried, apply the talstar as it would control the chinch bugs and other insects and would help "water in" the dominion and dylox. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
I live in Mississippi and want to enjoy our outdoor area without flies and mosquitoes. What should i use?
Can you please provide the equipment and product to go outside to help me?
    A
One of the best products to use for mosquito and fly control would be the Talstar P. Its a great general use insecticide that is safe for plants, trees, lawns and even indoor use, and has no odor and leaves behind no stain or visible residue. It will hold up to the outdoor elements for at least 30 days and in some areas you could get up to 60 days control from each spray. You would mix Talstar at the rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water. You can spray the talstar with something like a Chapin 1 Gallon Pump Sprayer, or if you have a larger area to spray you could use a backpack sprayer like the Chapin ProSeries 4 gallon sprayer. For added control over the mosquitoes, flies and other bugs in your area, you could mix in NyGuard IGR to the same gallon of water mixture with the Talstar. The NyGuard is birth control for the insects to help keep them from reproducing faster than you can kill them. While the Talstar will only last about 30-60 days, the NyGuard is actually formulated to hold up to sunlight for up to 5 months so you may only need to spray it once or twice per season. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Talstar for bad roach problem inside
I wrote here about 6 weeks ago, explained my problem and ordered everything you said to the tune of $181.00. The Phantom leaves much to be desired. I still see lots of roaches. The MaxForce is a joke. I'd like to try Talstar P even though I already feel ripped off. Does it have a fast knockdown unlike the Phantom? Everywhere I look I see more roaches and it's driving me crazy. The NyGuard IGR apparently worked as I have thousands of crinkly winged roaches. All are alive and well.
    A
Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect and is especially useful for insects that are social or extra sensitive like ants, roaches or bedbugs. Talstar P on the other hand will have a faster knockdown rate and is a bit more versatile as it can be used in more areas and for a wider variety of insects, but it will only kill the roaches that contact the treated area, whereas the Phatom will help to kill the entire colony, as does the MaxForce FC Magnum.  Please be aware this does take time, it can take weeks or months to completely eliminate a roach infestation.  The NyGuard is only birth control to keep the roaches from reproducing and side effects of that are the crinkled look.  For more helpful hints on eliminating your infestation, take a look at our guide on How To Get Rid Of Roaches.
