    Q
Does Talstar kill spider mites and can it be sprayed after oil or sulfur has been sprayed?
Is Talstar ok to use plants have been sprayed with horticultural oil or sulfur?
    A
We would recommend doing the application of Talstar P before doing an application of horticultural oil or sulfur. This will provide the residual for the pests, and the other products will help with killing them as well. Spraying Talstar P over either one of these will likely decrease the effectiveness of the oil and/or sulfur.

    Q
Can Talstar P be used with an IGR?
Wooded 5 acre lawn surrounded by cattle ranch. Ticks and fleas major issue. Have both dogs and cats who roam - ie bring the beasties home. Animals treated heavily, what to do for yard? need good residual and rain resistance.
    A
Talstar P can be applied with an IGR (insect growth regulator). It is safe for pets as long as they remain out of the area during treatment and return only when the surfaces have dried completely. It should not be applied where there are grazing animals such as cattle. It is labeled for ticks and fleas outside and offers a 30 day outdoor residual.
For best results, allow 24 hours after outdoor application before expected rainfall.

    Q
Best option for Mosquito on acreage with tow sprayer
I have a double lot with mowed grass and ditch. Total area to spray is 2.5 acres aprox. I use a 15 gallon spryaer to apply chemical but have bad mosquito problem. I have been looking at the Talstar but alot of people say use malthion. Which works better and will have longer effect? Also, is switching to a mister a realistic option for such a large area?
    A
The pull behind, would still be that best option  for the coverage you need. Talstar mixed with Nyguard and water would be the most effective on the mosquito and flying insect problem. As long as there are no edibles in the area.

    Q
How does Talstar P effct the butterfy and bee populations? (nectar insects).
I have an eight bed perennial garden with many flowers, roses, bushes and a rose garden. I do not want to kill off butterflies (and their larva), bees and other nectar-seeking insects, as well as the Monarch butterfly and it's larva.
    A
Talstar P (Talstar One) can be toxic to beneficial insects. We advise that you make the application when the plants are not pollinating.

  • Asked by Jesse from Austin Tx

    Q
How much Talstar P should I put in a 50 gal sprayer?
I'v got fleas at my house so I bought a rig for my Big Yard.
    A
When treating your yard for fleas with Talstar P you can use anywhere between 0.5 ounces and 1 oz per gallon of water. So anywhere between 25 and 50 ounces to your 50 gallon sprayer. Keep in mind when treating for fleas, its important to use an IGR (insect birth control) to help stop the reproductive cycle. If you only use a portion of the yard closest to the home you could just mix the IGR with the Talstar and spray them both in those areas that you frequent the most or the pets frequent. We would recommend NyGuard IGR to mix in your tank.

    Q
    Earwig Infestation
I have hundreds of earwigs that crawl on the exterior of my home - foundation and siding all the way to the eaves of my house. We get 5 to 10 inside a day. I need a powerful granule to kill them in the ground and something to prevent them from crawling on the side of the house. I have a .5 acres of land and have done everything I can do to keep the area around my house cleaned up. I have caulked the obvious cracks and put up weather stripping.
    A
First, do you have mulch or pinstraw around your home? If so, pull that off your house.  Talstar P would be a great choice for earwigs. You can spray both indoors and outdoors with this product. Talstar P, one of our best sellers, has a long residual, is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and wont break down easily with rainfall. Also, be sure to focus on mulched areas, or areas that hold moisture in the lawn.

  • Asked by Keith from Oshkosh, Wi
    06/26/2015
    Q
Will storing Talstar P in sunlight or heat ruin the product?
I've had the bottle in the back of my truck for a few weeks, and the last couple time I've used it I'm still seeing spiders afterwards. I've never had a problem before.
    A
We recommend storing Talstar P in a cool dry place away from any direct sunlight or any extreme temperatures. Leaving the bottle in direct sunlight and high tempatures may cause the chemicals to break down and become less effective.

  • Asked by Nikki from Santa Fe Nm
    07/08/2015
    Q
Is the residual harmful to young children and pets if it gets re-wet?
For example; a toddler spilles milk on the floor where the Talstar was treated or the dog spilled water everywhere on the floor including the baseboards where the Talstar was sprayed and dried.
    A

Talstar will not be reconstituted and become dangerous if it gets wet. Talstar can be taken off of a surface if gets gets washed up with soap and water and would need to be reapplied. Please contact us at 1-866-581-7378 for and further information.

    Q
Can I use Talstar P to spray for fleas indoors? If so, how do you apply indoors for use?
    A

We do not recommend treating the inside of the home with Talstar P for flea control. It is a crack and crevice application indoors only. Fleas will be on the majority portion of the flooring and furniture. We recommendt that you treat with the products in our Indoor Flea Kit. Please take a few minutes to read our How to Get Rid of Fleas Article for more helpful information on eradication inside.

  • Asked by Frank from Vero Beach, Florida

    Q
What is good for camel spiders in central Colorado?
I am looking for a spray to do the perimeter and possibly the baseboards for camel spiders. I live in Florida but do property management in CO. Hopefully something cheaper then Termidor.
    A

Camel spiders certainly look scary but are basically harmless. You can treat the exterior and interior of structures if needed with a product such as Talstar P. Talstar works well for spiders, scorpions and other invading pests. We usually would not recommend Termidor for spider control as it is a very slow acting insecticide.

Can I add dishwashing liquid to Talstar One to control roaches on pet cages?

  • Asked by Michael from Ocean Cty, Nj
    08/08/2016
    Q
Is Talstar P recommended for use in protecting arborvitae from insects?
A number of my arborvitae are thinning and browning, and although I do not see any infestation, I would like to rule out bug infestation as a problem.
    A

Talstar P is labeled to be sprayed around ornamentals and in landscaped areas. So it should be safe for the arborvitae that you are asking about. As with any new area of spraying we suggest that you do a small test area just to be sure that it is tolerant of the product before doing a complete broadcast over the entire area.
