    Q
Can I mix Talstar and Roundup Concentrate for simultaneous application?
I have a gravel belt around my house with millipedes and various weeds. Would make life easier if I could cover it in one pass.
    A
We do not recommend mixing any type of herbicide with insecticide. Each contain different properties that could degrade the effectiveness of the active ingredients.

    Q
What is Bifenthrin in Talstar, and do you have any products to use with a fogger for carpet beetles?
    A
Bifenthrin is the active ingredient in Talstar P. It is mixed at 1 oz per gallon per 1,000 sq ft per month on the exterior of the structure and once every three months indoors (cracks and crevices). Using a fogger will not penetrate into cracks and crevices where carpet beetle larvae hide, and it does not leave a residual to kill insects later when they come out of hiding.  This product will only kill what is out in the open when it goes off.  We recommend reading our articles on carpet beetle control.

Talstar P will kill water bugs, roaches, and most common crawling and flying insects that come into contact with the direct spray or the residual, however you should use additional methods of control for roaches, such as eliminating food and water sources and exclusion. Q
Can I mix Talstar P with Image in a single application?
    A
Talstar P can be mixed with Image, if you do the tank mix test.  Any tank mixture which has not been previously tested should be prepared on a small scale (pint or quart jar), using the proper proportions of pesticides and water to ensure the physical compatibility of the mixture. The following procedure is recommended for preparation of a new tank mix, unless specified otherwise in label directions: (1) Add wettable powders to tank water, (2) Agitate, (3) Add liquids and flowables, (4) Agitate, (5) Add emulsifiable concentrates, and (6) Agitate. If a mixture is found to be incompatible following this the volume of water. Note: If the tank-mixture is found to be compatible after increasing the amount of water, then the sprayer will need to be recalibrated for a higher volume application. Do not allow the mixture to stand over night.

    Q
    Pest Control-Products Outside of House
I want to put some pest control outside around the house, in the brick crevices etc... An exterminator company came to the house last week offering a sale of $120 every 2 months to preventative control, for spiders, mice, whatever other bugs are outside. I just built my house which is outside of town in a subdivision, but across the street we have open, fields etc... I have purchased from this website before, and I figured I would give it a shot at doing it myself before paying those rates. What product would you recommend?
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

    Q
Can I sleep in my home after I've sprayed Talstar P?
I found termites in my home tonight and need to spray Talstar. Can I sleep in my home after I've sprayed it? Or do I need to let it air out over night?
    A
Talstar P can be applied for above ground termites but will take a couple of hours to dry and you should leave the home after treatment until the surfaces are dry. You can sleep in the home afterwards. Talstar will not be an instant kill. Please contact us for information on termite treatments at 866-581-7378 M-F 9-5PM EST. Any household cleaning product will kill the ones that you see right now without you having to worry or leave the home this late at night.

    Q
When using a mist blower, how far into a treeline should we treat for mosquitos?
Our back yard (1/4 acre) is surrounded by dense woods with substantial underbrush on three sides and we're wondering how far into the woods we'd need to blow a misting pesticide like Telstar P into the cover to provide defense against biting black flies and mosquitos. Of course, this would be done in conjunction to the spraying of shrubs and patio areas in the main part of the yard. Additionally, where we don't spend nearly as much time in the front yard (1/4 acre, open to a street) as the back, is it worth spraying the shrubs and trees in that area as vigorously as the backyard?
    A
There is no definite "coverage area" for mosquitoes because they are flying insects. However, keep in mind that the better the coverage, the better the results. For best results we would recommend treating as far back into the woods as possible and also ask neighbors about the possibility of treating their property. The larger the treated zone the more impact on the mosquito population. You want to treat all bushes, shrubs, and low lying tree branches and be sure to get the undersides of the leaves which is where those pesky mosquitoes like to hide during the day.

    Q
Does Talstar kill spider mites and can it be sprayed after oil or sulfur has been sprayed?
Is Talstar ok to use plants have been sprayed with horticultural oil or sulfur?
    A
We would recommend doing the application of Talstar P before doing an application of horticultural oil or sulfur. This will provide the residual for the pests, and the other products will help with killing them as well. Spraying Talstar P over either one of these will likely decrease the effectiveness of the oil and/or sulfur.

    Q
Where in Rhode Island can buy Talstar P? Does it work on web worm and what month of the year is the best time of to apply and what time of day?
    A
Talstar P can be applied to the lawn once a month for treating sod webworms. We are not aware of any local stores in your state that carry the product as it is a professional strength product sold online by retail distributors such as ours. We also offer free shipping.
Time applications to control young larvae, if possible. Spot treatments may be applied when infestations are first detected and the damaged area is small. The treatment will be most effective if applied in the early evening when larvae begin feeding. Please check with your local cooperative extension office to see if a second generation is possible in one season in your region.

    Q
Can Talstar P be used with an IGR?
Wooded 5 acre lawn surrounded by cattle ranch. Ticks and fleas major issue. Have both dogs and cats who roam - ie bring the beasties home. Animals treated heavily, what to do for yard? need good residual and rain resistance.
    A
Talstar P can be applied with an IGR (insect growth regulator). It is safe for pets as long as they remain out of the area during treatment and return only when the surfaces have dried completely. It should not be applied where there are grazing animals such as cattle. It is labeled for ticks and fleas outside and offers a 30 day outdoor residual.
For best results, allow 24 hours after outdoor application before expected rainfall.
