Talstar P (Talstar One) is not labeled for grub worms and most likely will not provide satisfactory results when used to control them. We do have several products that are specifically labeled for grub worms on our website: Grub Worm Control. We also recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and inquire about the best time to start treatments for grubs in your region. Gnat is a very general term used to describe a wide variety of small flying pests including fruit flies, drain flies, fungus gnats, no-see-ums, mosquitoes, etc. You can use a general insecticide like Talstar P on the outside of your home on all the window and door frames and on window screens to try and prevent pests from entering your home. We cannot give more specific information or treatment products unless we know exactly what species of pest you are dealing with so that we can narrow down where the problem is coming from and address it directly.
Talstar P (Talstar One) is not labeled to be applied with hose end sprayer, because it is a professional grade product. You can apply with a hose end sprayer. The same application rates apply. Keep in mind using a hose end sprayer can be a little more difficult to calibrate than simply mixing 1oz per gallon water in a pump sprayer, but we have many customers that use the hose end sprayer application.
You should not repeat the treatment you have already made indoors using Talstar P. You can use Talstar P for flea control outdoors at a rate of 1 oz per 1000 sq ft around turf and ornamentals. Indoors, you can use a steamer or carpet cleaner to break down some of the residual application. At least 14 days after that application, we recommend retreating with a product for indoor flea treatment such as PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol. Yes, Talstar is labeled for caterpillars. You will use 0.125-0.25 ounces per gallon of water per 1000 sq. ft.
We do not recommend spraying Talstar P on insulation in the crawl space. It should only be applied in cracks and crevices.
When you are using Talstar P (Talstar One) to treat for subsurface insects such as mole crickets, chinch bugs, etc., you will to water in after application per the product label. When applying as pest control product for surface pests, you will wait to water at least 24 hours after application.
Yes, Talstar P can be safely used around pets and children as long as you follow the label instructions; all pets and children need to be out of the area while application is being made and they can return as soon as the application is dry.
Talstar P (Talstar One) should only be mixed as directed on the label to be considered safe. Overapplying can cause an area to be more repellent, causing insects to avoid it, so the insecticide cannot do its job.
Yes, Talstar P can safely be applied as a crack and crevice application indoors. Be sure to follow the instructions on the product label.
It would be recommended to remove any overspray of Talstar P Professional Insecticide from the door handles as this is not a labeled area for use. You can do so with warm water and soap. It is best to set your sprayer to a pin stream when needing to apply around door frames/hinges to prevent overspray to nontarget areas.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide would not be recommended for use if you need to treat wood directly. It only sits on the surface of wood and would not penetrate. It used to be used as a perimeter treatment to the soil in a trench around the home until non repellent products like Termidor SC were developed. For treating wood directly, a better option would be Bora-Care, either sprayed or painted onto the rafters. We do not recommend using Talstar P for powderpost beetles. The label does allow for this application in voids and galleries of damaged wood, but this would be a difficult applciation. Our most popular treatment for this pest is using Boracare on raw wood that is infested. If you need to treat finished wood such as wooden floors, then you would either need to strip the wood to treat it, or spot treat the individual holes using Jecta, which is a ready-to-use formulation of Boracare.
