No, Talstar P cannot be applied to any edible vegetation.
The best general pest control can depend on what region you are located in. One of the most popular general pest control products is Talstar P. Talstar has a long residual, so it keeps on killing pests for up to three months after you've applied it. It is also odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall.
Fungus gnats are usually found breeding in landscaped areas/lawns that are over-watered. You should be careful to let area dry out completely, which will kill any larvae in the soil. You could also treat the area with something like Talstar P, which has great residual protection and also can be used for a wide variety of crawling pests and lawn and ornamental pests outside. Gnats that land on the treated areas will be eliminated. Talstar P will not repel the gnats from the area nor will it kill the gnats that do not land on the treated areas. It is best to resolve the issues that are causing water to build in areas and provide a breeding site for them.
Talstar P must be used or discarded within 24 hours of mixing.
No, Talstar will not harm your impatiens. It is safe to apply to any plants that are not edible.
Yes, Talstar P can be used on areas where grass was just planted. This product will not affect the growth of seeds.
When treating for chinch bugs with Talstar P, it is recommended that you do a second treatment 21-30 days after the first treatment. You will use 1 fl. oz. of Talstar P per gallon of water. This will treat 1000 square feet. Be sure to water the product in at least 0.5 inches after it has been applied.
Talstar P (Talstar One) can be applied once every 7 days as needed, but generally is applied once a month.
Yes, Talstar P can be used to treat for Boxelder bugs. You can use it at a rate of 1 oz per gallon of water and spray around the perimeter of your home, as well as the door frames, window frames and siding where you're finding activity. Talstar P leaves a residual of up to 30 days.
We do not recommend tank mixing Talstar P or any other insecticide with any type of herbicide. Each product contains different properties that could degrade the effectiveness of the active ingredients.
Talstar P is labeled for beetles and is safe for use on lilies, as well as other ornamentals. The residual is 30 days outdoors. It is recommended that you spray when pollinators are not active, either in the early morning or late evening. The mixing rate is 1 fl oz per gallon of water.
Yes, Talstar P is labeled to kill springtails.
Once you have added Talstar to the water for your mixed solution it should be used within 24 hours. It is not recommended to leave any solution in a sprayer for longer than that as it will loose effectivness.
On average, 1 gallon of mixed solution of Talstar P will cover about 1000 sq/ft, so it would take you about 44 gallons to cover an entire acre at the mix rate of 1 oz per gallon of water. The 1 gallon concentrated will make 128 gallons of finished solution at this rate and will treat the acre approx 3 times.
Some insecticides, like Talstar P, can be harmful to beneficial insects such as honey bees. Per Talstar P's label, Talstar "is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment of residues on blooming crops or weeds", so we wouldn't recommend spraying while bees are present or on blooms that bees can later land on. Tekko Pro IGR is just a growth regulator not an insecticide so as long as it's used as directed, it shouldn't harm beneficials. As far as BTI, if you're referring to the BTI Mosquito Dunks, that product is a larvacide and it only goes in water retention sites. If you meant Monterey B.T. Insecticide, the product "has no effect on birds, earthworms or beneficial insects such as honeybees and ladybugs, when used as directed." We recommend to always read the label of the product you decide to use to know how to use it properly and to check how it can affect beneficial insects.
Yes, Talstar P is labeled to kill and control wasps. The mixing rate is 1 fl oz per gallon of water. This will last for 30 days outdoors and 90 days indoors.
Talstar P is not labeled for use around edible plants, so we do not recommend using it around squash or other vegetables. Since we do not sell Capture, we cannot comment on the use of that product. We do sell many other insecticides that can be used around edible plants, which you can browse on our site here.

Talstar P (Talstar One) can be used inside of chicken coups. We would recommend removing them from the area during application. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for the chickens to return to the area.
We apologize, but there is no way we can say for sure if the tree will survive. We recommend that you contact a local arborist with your cooperative extension office to determine the extent of the damage of the tree. Talstar is labeled for a foliar spray starting in April through June.
Bagworm recommendations:
It is important to start control methods before a major infestation occurs. Once the bagworms have matured and have formed the "bag" most chemical control methods will no longer work.
You can manually control bagworms by simply plucking them off of the infested trees and dropping them into a bucket of soapy water or squishing them. This control method is most useful during fall, winter and early spring, before the eggs inside the bag have hatched.
Chemical control may be achieved when the larvae are small and just emerging from the over-wintering bag. Use a concentrated liquid insecticide such as Talstar or Tempo. Foliage should be thoroughly wetted with the insecticide spray in order to achieve thorough coverage. When doing an insecticide treatment, timing is key. To find out the correct time of year to treat for bagworms in your region contact you local Cooperative Extension office. These offices can prove to be invaluable when treating for insect pests.
