    Can I spray Talstar for caterpillars?
    I have had some issues with caterpillars eating the foliage on my sun hostas.

    Yes, Talstar is labeled for caterpillars.  You will use 0.125-0.25 ounces per gallon of water per 1000 sq. ft.

    Can I spray the insulation under my crawlspace with Talstar P?
    I have ants in my crawl space and i was wanting to spry the crawl space with Talstar P but i have lots of insulation in between my floor joists and it's not rigid foam insulation. Is it safe to spay the insulation?

    We do not recommend spraying Talstar P on insulation in the crawl space.  It should only be applied in cracks and crevices.

    I've read conflicting responses as to timing of watering - wait or water immediately after Talstar application
    I'm using the liquid version on St Augustine grass to kill chinch bugs in lawn. Sometimes it seem that you suggest waiting 6 hours before rain or watering. Other times it seems that you say water in immediately after application 0.25 to .5 inches.

    When you are using Talstar P (Talstar One) to treat for subsurface insects such as mole crickets, chinch bugs, etc., you will to water in after application per the product label.  When applying as pest control product for surface pests, you will wait to water at least 24 hours after application.

    Is Talstar safe to use around dogs?
    A

    Yes, Talstar P can be safely used around pets and children as long as you follow the label instructions; all pets and children need to be out of the area while application is being made and they can return as soon as the application is dry.

    Is Talstar P (Talstar One) safe to use inside a residence?
    A

    Yes, Talstar P can safely be applied as a crack and crevice application indoors.  Be sure to follow the instructions on the product label.

    Can Talstar P be sprayed on door handles?
    I have multiple French doors that lead in/out of the home. They are double open doors with a separation/crevice between them. After spraying the crevices, the door handles and areas adjacent to the handles are affected. Once dried is it safe for hands to contact these areas and for those same hands to eat foods without washing? I have little kids that enter/exit these doors and may not always wash their hands prior to eating.

    It would be recommended to remove any overspray of Talstar P Professional Insecticide from the door handles as this is not a labeled area for use.  You can do so with warm water and soap.  It is best to set your sprayer to a pin stream when needing to apply around door frames/hinges to prevent overspray to nontarget areas.

    How do I apply Talstar P for termite control on a block house in Florida?
    We need to treat a limited amount of wood in the roof rafters.
    A

    Talstar P Professional Insecticide would not be recommended for use if you need to treat wood directly.  It only sits on the surface of wood and would not penetrate.  It used to be used as a perimeter treatment to the soil in a trench around the home until non repellent products like Termidor SC were developed.  For treating wood directly, a better option would be Bora-Care, either sprayed or painted onto the rafters.  We have great guides for treating both subterranean and drywood termites that would be helpful to review as well.

    Will Talstar P kill powderpost beetles?
    It says it will kill beetles?
    A

    We do not recommend using Talstar P for powderpost beetles. The label does allow for this application in voids and galleries of damaged wood, but this would be a difficult applciation. Our most popular treatment for this pest is using Boracare on raw wood that is infested. If you need to treat finished wood such as wooden floors, then you would either need to strip the wood to treat it, or spot treat the individual holes using Jecta, which is a ready-to-use formulation of Boracare.     Mosquitoes, flies, and spiders are the problem in my yard, is there one product I can spray for all 3 pests?

    Talstar P Professional Insecticide is a great safe product for general pest control both in and around the home. It dries clear, has no odor, is non-staining and non-irritating and can be used on lawns, bushes, ornamentals, trees and around the foundation of the home, as well as entry points like windows and doors. It will control over 100 different insects, including mosquitoes, flies, and spiders. It will typically last 30-90 days outdoors and at least 90 indoors along baseboards and cracks and crevices. Its safe for children and pets once dry and is very cost effective.

    I used Talstar P Professional Insecticide to control fleas in my yard. I put K9 Advantix on my dogs but I still have a problem. Should I use an IGR?

    Yes, although Talstar P Professional Insecticide will kill fleas, you still need to incorporate an IGR like Tekko Pro to break down the reproductive cycle. You can apply both at the same time.

    Can I use Talstar P in the wind, why not if so?
    Is the reason Talstar P should not be used in the wind is that the vapors kill the insects or is it because the wind can cause the chemical to land on our skin and eyes?

    Be sure to apply Talstar P Professional Insecticide on a day with little wind present to avoid drift to unwanted locations/unlisted areas (including on the applicator). We do offer a Basic Safety Kit for protective gear.

    How is Talstar P Professional Insecticide used for ant control in the yard? I have a backpack sprayer and mist blower.
    A

    When using Talstar P Professional Insecticide for ant control, mix 1 fl oz per gallon of water, locate and treat ant nests, and trails around doors and windows and other places where ants have been observed or are expected to forage. Spray the exterior perimeter foundation 2 to 3 ft up and 2 to 3 ft out from the foundation. For ant control in the lawn, mix at the same 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft.

    For treating Fire Ants, the best control is obtained by a broadcast application along with mound drenches. Apply broadcast treatments at 0.6 to 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet. Treat mounds by applying 1 fl oz Talstar P Professional per mound in 1 to 2 gallons water by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat 3 feet out around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12”. Treat mounds with sufficient force to break their apex and allow the insecticide solution to flow into the ant tunnels. For best results, apply in cool weather (65 - 80?F) or in the early morning or late evening hours.

    Can I broadcast spray my yard with Talstar P?
    A

    Yes, you can apply Talstar P as a broadcast spray if you need to treat for turf pests or surface pests such as ants, webworms, chinch bugs, etc. You can use up to 1 oz per 1000 sq ft.

    Is it safe to eat parsley if it was sprayed with Talstar P?

    Talstar P Professional Insecticide should not be applied to any edible vegetation.  And edibles that have been sprayed should be discarded and not consumed.

    Will Talstar kill birds, butterflies, bees?
    We have lots of birds and bees around on our flowers. Is this going to kill them.

    Yes, Talstar P Professional Insecticide will kill cicada killers. We also recommennd to dust in their holes with Delta Dust.
