Talstar P can be applied on the ground when there is a small amount of dew. Allow to fully dry prior to rain fall, 24 hrs.
Mixing too much of an insecticide like Talstar P (Talstar One) is never recommended. Over-application can make an area more repellent, causing insects to avoid it so that the product cannot do its job.
Talstar P is mixed at the rate of 0.5 to 1.0 fl oz per gallon of water, so a gallon of the Talstar will make about 128 to 256 gallons of solution and will last up to 90 days depending on where it is applied. Each finished gallon of solution covers approx 1000 sq. ft. Inside applications are limited to just cracks and crevices, along baseboards etc. Outside you would apply 2 to 3 feet up and out around the home, around window and door frames, and other potential entry points. You can choose to spray the lawn for further protection or just around the perimeter. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions on any target pest.
No, Talstar is not labeled to be used around ponds, lakes or other water sources. We recommend using EcoVia EC ,which is labeled for use on a wide range of flying and crawling insects.
EcoVia EC can safely be applied in and around homes, businesses, near and over water such as boat docks and pool areas without harming aquatic life, as well as numerous other areas. Please follow label instructions for your target pest and application.
Unfortunately there is not a product on the market that is labeled or recommended for hookworms. While some insecticides like Talstar P (Talstar One) are labeled for turf or lawn infesting insect may work, there has not been enough research to add hookworms to the product labels. We recommend that all animals be moved out of the contaminated area for at least 1 year (during warm spring/summer months, longer during cool winter/fall months) and all feces be removed. Keeping the animals out of the contaminated area for at least 1 year should help control the infestation pattern. It is also important to remove feces from the new latrine area to avoid another infestation. Another option is to remove the contaminated soil and replace if you cannot keep out for 1 year.
There is no valid reason to mix Suspend Polyzone and Talstar P together. Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and Suspend Polyzone already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas, prolonging the infestation.
We recommend to wait at least two weeks to apply Talstar P (Talstar One) where Spectracide may have been applied.
Conserve SC is a great product for treating caterpillars since it is a targeted application and is very gentle on the plants and on other non-target insects and animals. If you are going to do a follow up treatment using Talstar, then I would wait at least 1-2 weeks so that you are not wasting the Conserve application since you don’t need both products at the same time.
No, Talstar will not discolor or otherwise harm composite decking if applied as directed on the product label.
Talstar P is our most popular product for general pest control. It is labeled for over 75 different pests and can be used indoors and outdoors. It is safe for cats and other pets if used as directed. Cats need to be kept out of the area during application and until all surfaces are dry. It is fine for them to return to the area once it is dry.
Talstar P can be applied at any time of day.
Talstar is not labeled for application to carpet and is not recommended for indoor flea control because it is restricted to cracks and crevices only indoors. Ultracide would be a much better choice for indoor flea control. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. The vacuum will also stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum or exposed to the Ultraicde application. After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Ultracide and continue with the vacuuming. You should use a product that is registered to use on your pets for fleas such as Frontline or Advantage. TalstarP can be used effectively outdoors for places where your pets may frequent and also moist shady areas where fleas are likely to develop. Treating outdoors will help prevent your pets from re-infesting your home.
Talstar P (Talstar One) is not labeled to be used on any edibles, crops or vegetable gardens. Monterey Garden Insect Spray is labeled to control a variety of insects on potatoes and is applied at 2 oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Please refer to the product label for instuctions, days to harvest and application maximums per year.
Talstar P (Talstar One) can be applied in a Stihl mist blower/handheld/backpack sprayer at 1 fl oz per gallon monthly per 1,000 sq ft. You can add Tekko Pro IGR and Exciter. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Mosquitoes for a successful eradication program.
Talstar P (Talstar One) can be applied topically monthly for crawling and flying insects and every 5 years for termite applications.
A broad-spectrum insecticide such as Talstar P could potentially kill bees if they are sprayed directly or if they contact the treated areas. For this reason, we do not recommend spraying residual insecticides on flowering plants, and we recommend spraying in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active. There is a product called Mavrik Perimeter which is non-toxic and non-repellent to honey bees once dry. Another option would be to use a repellent such as Mosquito Barrier which is only a repellent once dry.
Yes, you can use Talstar P in both food/feed and non-food/feed areas of food-handling establishments like restaurants as a spot or crack and crevice spray. Be sure this is not while the restaurant is in operation, and that you are not contaminating food, utensils, or food-handling surfaces. Please see Page 6 of the product label for complete directions on using Talsar in Food/Feed Establishments.
Talstar P (Talstar One) is not labeled to be applied to furniture and it should not apply it to children's toys. Per the product label, Talstar is harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through skin.
Talstar P (Talstar One) rate is 0.5 to 1.0 fl oz per gallon of water. For smaller amounts of water such as a quart you would just use ¼ of that. It must be applied in a pump sprayer to be used correctly not a trigger sprayer like a 409/Windex bottle.
