Keep in mind that part of the difficulty in handling flying insects is that you are relying on them to land on areas treated with the insecticide.

Gnat is a very general term used to describe a wide variety of small flying pests including fruit flies, drain flies, fungus gnats, no-see-ums, mosquitoes, etc. You can use a general insecticide like Talstar P on the outside of your home on all the window and door frames and on window screens to try and prevent pests from entering your home. We cannot give more specific information or treatment products unless we know exactly what species of pest you are dealing with so that we can narrow down where the problem is coming from and address it directly.

According to the Talstar P (Talstar One) product label: Chinch Bugs infest the base of grass plants and are often found in the thatch layer. Irrigation of the grass area before treatment will optimize the penetration of the insecticide to the area where the chinch bugs are located. Use higher volume applications if the thatch layer is excessive or if a relatively long mowing height is being maintained. Chinch Bugs can be one of the most difficult pests to control in grasses and the higher application rates (Up to 1 fluid oz. per 1000 square feet) may be required to control populations that contain both nymphs and adults during the middle of the summer.
When using Talstar P for ticks in the lawn, the rate is 0.5 - 1.0 oz. per 1000 sq. ft. in at least 1 gallon of water. So for 200 gallons, you would use 100-200 oz. Treat the entire area where exposure to ticks may occur. Use higher spray volumes when treating areas with dense ground cover or heavy leaf litter. Ticks may be reintroduced from surrounding areas on host animals. Retreatment may be necessary to achieve and/or maintain control during periods of high pest pressure. Repeat application is necessary only if there are signs of renewed activity. Limit repeat application to no more than once per seven days
Talstar P is not really labeled for use in cars. We would recommend using something like D Force Aerosol instead.
Talstar will kill any wasp, bee, or hornet that comes into contact with a treated area. Keep in mind that this is not a contact kill product, so it can take up to 24 hours for the insect to die after contacting a treated surface. You can also use a product like Wasp Freeze as a contact kill. If you know where any of the nests are located, you can use Wasp Freeze to treat those directly as well. It is best to apply any insecticides in the early morning or evening when the wasps/bees/hornets are least active.
Talstar P (Talstar One) is an insecticide and will not affect snakes or toads.

At least 14 days after that application, we recommend retreating with a product for indoor flea treatment such as PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol. Be sure to vacuum well before spraying and then every day or every other day after. Please refer to our online Flea Treatment Guide for more tips on eradicating this pest.
