    Q
What is the best product for mosquito control?
    I use a power backpack sprayer/mister.
    A

Talstar works great for mosquito control and it can be used in your mister. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or where you are trying to provide relief.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out during the heat of the day.  Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

    Q
Is Talstar P a contact kill?
Just worried they won't die because I directly spray one and it didn't die just wanted to run away but a little slow.
    A

Talstar P does not provide an instant knockdown of pests, rather, pests pick up the residual active ingredient by contact.  It works by disrupting an insect's nervous system, causing a weakened state followed by death.

    Q
I just realized I was mixing the Talstar P (Talstar One) too strong at 3 oz to a gallon. What should I do?
    A

Making a pesticide like Talstar P (Talstar One) too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.  Simply wipe down, or wash off areas of application and re-apply at the correct rate of 1 oz to a gallon of water.

    Q
I've read conflicting responses as to timing of watering - wait or water immediately after Talstar application
I'm using the liquid version on St Augustine grass to kill chinch bugs in lawn. Sometimes it seem that you suggest waiting 6 hours before rain or watering. Other times it seems that you say water in immediately after application 0.25 to .5 inches.
    A

When you are using Talstar P (Talstar One) to treat for subsurface insects such as mole crickets, chinch bugs, etc., you will to water in after application per the product label.  When applying as pest control product for surface pests, you will wait to water at least 24 hours after application.

    Q
Is Talstar safe to use around pregnant dairy goats and chickens?
Trying to find a safe option for our neighbor to use that will not affect our chickens, pullets, and pregnant dairy goats. Everything their company has brought up using is not for use around dairy goats so far. We have lost several animals to toxicity poisoning and do not want to lose any more.
    A

Talstar P is safe to use around chickens and livestock as long as the animals aren’t grazing in the treated areas. After the application, you need to wait until the area is completely dry before letting the animals back onto the treated areas.

  • Asked by Frank from Chardon, Ohio
    10/05/2018
    Q
Does Talstar P work on maggots?
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One)  is not directly labeled for maggots for the common house fly, but it would help with the maggot control as it would cause the fly population to decrease rapidly. It should be mixed at 0.5 to 1.0 oz. per gallon of water and applied on the exterior of the home focusing around windows, doors, areas of direct sunlight and where you notice the flies congregating. Using a fly bait trap such as the Flies Be Gone Trap to draw the flies away from the home is also recommended.
