    Q
Can I apply Talstar P around the house and windows using a garden hose sprayer? It seems as if it would be easier and faster than using the hand held sprayer.
    A
You can apply Talstar P using a hose end sprayer. Be sure your hose end sprayer can be calibrated to the correct usage rate for the pest and area you want to treat. We do carry the Chapin Hose End Sprayer 6005 which can be calibrated for any usage rate listed on the Talstar P product label.

    Q
I used the max amount of 1 oz of Talstar P to one gallon of water. If I were to use 2 oz. per gallon, would it work even better?
    A
No, it would not.  The homeowner way of thinking is usually that more is better, but keep in mind that these are professional products and are much stronger already than over the counter products.  Talstar P works so well at 1 ounce per gallon, that applying more than that really is just wasting money and product.  You will typically not see any better results by doing this.

    Q
We have a sun conure (bird) in the house. How safe is Talstar P to use around him?
We will be spraying the room he is in. We know he has to be removed when we spray, but how long before we can bring him back to that room safely.
    A
Talstar P is very safe to use around children and pets once it is dry.  You are correct that you should remove the bird and any other animals and children from the room while you are performing the treatment.  Once the treatment is dry, which usually takes about 45 minutes, it is perfectly safe to place the bird and other pets back into the room.

    Q
My leylands are infested with bagworms. I bought Talstar and sprayed in late June early July.
It spit rain about 4 hrs after spraying and then poured about 2 days after. Should I retreat or wait a month or so?
    A
Talstar P only needs an hour or two to dry, and once it is dry it does not matter if it rains 2 hours later or 2 weeks later, it should hold up the same once dry.  So our answer is, you do not need to re-treat just yet.  However, it would not, or should not anyways, hurt the tree if you wanted to apply a second application now that is not mixed as strong for good measure.

    Q
I have tomato plants growing two feet from were I sprayed Talstar P. Are the tomatoes safe to eat?
    A
As long as you didn't spray the tomato plants with Talstar P , they should be safe to eat. Talstar P does not move through the soil and will not translocate.

    Q
Will Talstar P(Talstar One) kill chinch bugs and grub worms? Waco, Tx.
    A
Talstar P is labeled for chinch bugs and will do a great job controlling this pest. Talstar P is not labeled for grub worms and most likely will not provide satisfactory results when used to control them. We do have several products that are specifically labeled for grub worms on our website: Grub Worm Control. We also recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and inquire about the best time to start treatments for grubs in your region. In many parts of the country the grubs are already matured and they are emerging as adult beetles.

    Q
Can Talstar be sprayed on rose bushes?
    A
Yes, Talstar can be applied to any bushes, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas as well as flowering plants like roses.  However, you should minimize the spray on the actual flowering rose as you do not want it to get on any bees that help with pollination.

    Q
What type of applicator is needed to apply Talstar P to treat lawns for sodwebworms?
    A
You can apply Talstar P with a handpump sprayer or a hose end sprayer. Either applicator will work fine and it really boils down to personal preference. If you are treating a large yard it may be more convenient to use a hose end sprayer to avoid constantly refilling a smaller hand pump sprayer.

    Q
I have a very bad mosquito problem and a large yard over an acre. What do you recommend?
    A
Talstar is our most popular selling product for mosquito control.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a sprayer.  You will need about 1 oz of product for every 1,000 sq ft of space you need to treat. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio where you are trying to provide relief.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out.  Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

Will Talstar stay in my soil and on my plants indefinitely?
Should I wear protective clothing to work in my flowers and shrubs?
    A
No, Talstar will not say on your plants or in the soil indefinitely.  When used on your lawn or ornamentals like flowers and shrubs, Talstar will last about 2 to 3 months depending on where you live and your climate.

    Q
Have little black bugs so small you can just barely see them, I've tried talstar but they are still showing up?
these bugs are so small if they are not on a light colored background you can't see them. they are in my daughters bathroom, talstar mixed strong doesn't seem to stop them. do you have any idea?
    A

What you are describing sounds like springtails.  They are common in bathrooms and kitchens because they can breed under the slab and follow plumbing pipes and drains into your house.  You should google springtails and see if this is your issue.  If it is, Talstar Liquid is considered one of the best treatments for springtails to control them, but honestly you will not get rid of the problem no matter how many products you use if you cannot find the source.  The whole key to getting rid of springtails is their breeding source.  You have to find it.  Usually they breed under the slab and enter the home through small cracks.  Unfortunately when they breed under the slab the product you apply on top of the ground like Talstar will not make it to them.  The slab has to dry out and you have to do whatever you can to prevent moisture from getting under the slab.  Usually springtails are breeding because of too much mulch around the house, grade against the house is not going away from the house and water puddles up, downspouts are not going away from the house, etc.   Getting rid of springtails is a moisture management issue usually and not something that pesticides can get rid of alone.

    Q
Amount Talstar P (Talstar One) necessary for doing a termite block?
    A
According to the Talstar product label you will need to use 1 oz of Talster per gallon of water and then apply at the rate of 4 gallons of dilution per 10 linear feet of trench. You will need to calculate how many linear feet you have around the structure you wish to treat to find out how much Talstar you will need to purchase. Please take a few minutes to read over our termite article How to do a Termite Treatment so you will have a better understanding of what may be required for the treatment process.

How much Talstar P will I need for a 5 acre yard ?
    A

An acre is 43,650 sq ft and you will need anywhere from a 1/4 fl oz - 1 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft area. Please take a few moments to read over the Talstar P product label to find the correct usage rate for your needs.

    Q
Does Talstar-P kill stink bugs and box elder bugs?
If so, does it only kill them on contact, or will it remain effective for newly arriving bugs?
    A
Talstar P does work for stinkbugs and boxelder bugs. Talstar P does not have an immediate knockdown effect but it does leave a long lasting residual. We do encourage our customers to apply Talstar P once a month through the stinkbug/boxelder bug season (August-November).

    Q
What is the best and longest lasting mosquito product?
I live in Southwest Louisiana and we have had a lot of rain lately thus a bad outbreak of the little bloodsuckers. I need a product that is not going to disappear after the first rainfall?
    A

Talstar is our most popular selling product for mosquito control.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using any hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer.  The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio you are trying to provide relief at.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out.  It should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.  Best of all it will not harm any birds in the area.

    Q
When applying Talstar P (Talstar One) do I need to wear a mask?
If I am using a backpack mister, i.e. the Solo 451, do I need to wear a mask when spraying Talstar? Thanks, Stew
    A
According to the Talstar P product label "all pesticide handlers must wear a respiratory protection device when working in a non-ventilated space." Respiratory devices are not required for well ventilated spaces or outdoor applications. The Talstar P product label also says "all applicators should wear longsleeved shirt and long pants, socks, shoes and chemical-resistant gloves."

Can I use Talstar directly on tomato plants?
I have stink bugs destroying my tomatoes. Would they absorb (the tomatoes) the Talstar if I spray it on them?
    A
You can absolutely NOT use Talstar on any kind of edible vegetation.  If you have already you will need to discard of those items.  Unfortunately the only product we have at this time that is labeled for treatment of stink bugs on edible crops is Venom.

    Q
What is best to use to kill chinch bugs that are in our St. Augustine grass? How to mix, if mixing is needed.
Our grass is brown down the middle of our lawn and in other spots around the yard. At certain times of the year is worst than others. We have replanted new grass and added nutrients, but the problem still exists.
    A

Talstar P is our best selling product for chinch bug control. The key is to use lots of water to carry the Talstar P down to the thatch layer underneath the grass, where the chinch bugs do the damage. Please read the product label for proper use instructions.
